Hello Ed, you better not use "alcohol" in the 50/50 mix. Distilled water on a temp. of 40 degrees in a mix of 70% water and 30% "alcohol" is safer for the subtile recordgrooves. After sufficient cleaning I use anti dust spray for tabletscreens. Also safe is the use of very little sprayed WD40 and drying it wirh a very soft piece of cloth, and a bit diagonal, so not direct in the groovedirection, and back to the beginning of the record. My experience of recordcleaning is only 60 years.

previous owner got a bit sloppy on ownership of the lp. I've been getting lps from the 60s in mint condition in Japan. Japan were big Elvis fans

Something you may consider adding to your solutions is just a couple small drops of Dawn dish soap. works wonders with things like Finger prints and extremely dirty records and used by the Hall of fame on there archives.

What I do with my cleaning solution of alcohol and distilled water is add some Wndex class cleaner. The Windex has ammonia in it and it helps cut the oil in the finger prints and helps get them off the records. I just add enough to get a blue hue in the solution and that seems to be enough to do the job. I also have a VPI record cleaning machine it works great. Also a few drops of photo flow help s the solution penetrates the grooves better for better cleaning.

I use 80% destilled water, 20% Isoprop and a few drops photo flew in a self-built ultrasonic mashine, than drying with 'microfaser-Tücher' - works fine - best wishes, take care

Sorry Ed but you should only use fairy liquid and distilled water. No alcohol at all, as it eats away your vinyl. Go and see cleaning vinyl records John Manship. The LP did sound a little better after your clean Ed.

The acid in the fingers will eat into the vinyl I would think

    Hi from England
    Ed
There is some improvement. Perhaps if you revisit this procedure a few times over who knows?
Regarding the fingerprint thing maybe if you know someone who has had previous experience scientifically with finger prints (i mean the LAW or similar occupation) they may be able to advise you.

Hey Ed, I think that the cleaning did a lot actually. I'd say most of the remaining noise came from the LP's condition rather than dirt. Take care...

I use a cleaner , actually it’s a groove cleaner that I buy at my local record shop and it’s amazing on my records, although I have multiple copies of each album most of them are in awesome shape anyway. Nice try.

NOBODY should let an Elvis album get in a 💩 condition like this. 😡 😊
