The war hound with his legs back to front, rookie maintenance crew big whooopsy
Don't worry it's magnetised - a simple twist and it's fixed!
Yay battle report!!! Amazing paint work! I love how the game leads to interesting stories.
That's what it's all about for me.
Note on titans and objectives. They have tactical strenght 0 yes. They still can control objective provided no enemy is there. People generally overestimate how bad ts0 is. I find rarely situation where both sides have survivors in objective
That's interesting, I didn't realise that.
You first check who has models on objective. Only if more than 1 player has units is tactical strength compared. If you reread section you'll note how 1st part never references tactical strength.
Can be confusing if coming from 40k/aos as those specfically compare oc from the start. LI is first step a, then if step a doesn't solve go step b and TS only compared in step b.
Yep, my mistake! Still there are a lot of rules to remember in the heat of the moment ...
It's why flyers have a specific extra note that they can't control objectives
@@daviddonachie5333 excelent point and good to keep in mind as further evidence :)
I hope for more Legions battle reports 🎉
Awesome battle report! Where did you get those amazing unit cards? Thanks again. Keep up the great content
I make my own reference cards for all my tabletop miniatures games as they're never good enough - if they have any at all!
Best turn marker I've ever seen. Great vid too! :D
Nice isn't it? Got that from Gale Force Nine a long time ago and painted it up.
buildings look nice - will you be doing a painting guide video?
Really, they're so easy to paint it's not worth it. Spray undercoat in black, spray some white from the top to get rough shadows, dry brush in light grey, wash and weather. I don't really do painting tutorials anymore, they take all the fun out of painting for me!
Very nice table! Thanks for the report. :)
Cheers Ralf!
That warhound can't possibly be less than 30% of your army! 🙃 In all seriousness though adding the super heavies that were supposed to be in the starter would give you a better minimum size beginner game.
Yes, but... the COOLNESS factor is thru the roof!
@@pancakeonions the prerelease box set had super heavies and the warhounds. I think a few aircraft instead of the super heavies would've been a nice add. Just so you have the three major types of unit.
Yeah, some planes would have been good. Having them only available separately as part of a completely different game is somewhat confusing.
I’m working on 3rd ed. Earlier battle vid you posted with your old friend was helpful and inspired. Happy to see you eat some words with the epic 40k return hahaha. What camera do you use? I’d like to try uploading a battle report. Keep up the good work, enjoying your vids!
Super easy, I just use an iPhone 13 mini. I used to use Canon and Sony cameras but the iPhone seems to give me better results, especially when it comes to auto-focus.
What a great looking table! Scenery and models both have a great paintjob 🥳
The charge of the Sicarans into the Malcadors was an excellent moment to have an Overwatch action, since you would lose your Advance order anyway due to the close combat.
And is the Warhound deliberately glued on backwards on its legs? Or is it magnetized?
Anyway, great game! Legions can be bogged down by all the special rules but if you keep the points value low per game it's a great experience.
Oh and a Witdrawal move is your standard movement + D6, not just a D6 😉
Shooting the Terminators and the Rhinos at the Warhound was useless: their bolters have the Light special rule, which means they can't damage vehicles, super-heavy, Knight or Titan. They also can't be used to get rid of void shields.
Only our second game, so errors were inevitable. yes, the Warhound is magnetised, so I missed it was on backwards. No wonder it was so useless! 🤣
@@onomatopoeia7505 (withdrawal move ...) Curses, wish I'd remembered that one!
@@onomatopoeia7505 (shooting the terminators ...) Insane bravery - or desperation? 🤣
Just love this 👍
A legion command has to be joined to another unit, they cant go on there own
Guess we forgot that in the heat of the battle!
Well technically possible in future there's formation that has command but no required infantry so you aren't forced to join. But yea at the moment no such formation. No cheap formation to out-activate opponents(one of bad sides of alternative action. Small cheap formations have disproportionate impact if they give you activation advantage. Which is one big reason why flamer malcador is bonkers)
We've had a situation where a commander was forced to join a tarantula unit, because they were the only infantry in the same formation. I believe the same happened to the Warhammer World tournament winner. But they *can* go on their own if there is no infantry in their formation at all.
@@daviddonachie5333 this is more accurate than my comment
I have Titanicus (and an empty bank account) but I didn't go for the new EPIC which makes it all the better for me to be able to see the game in action, preferably without having to worry that I might be so annoying as to make you make specific videos Peter! All the best from The UK. Just making a coffee to relax and see some small-scale massive action.
I can definitely recommend using 3d printing for models used in Legions. Cheaper and often better looking too!
Enjoy your coffee, and the batrep!
Great looking battle guys. Strange question for you. Can I ask what material you used to mount your ruined buildings on (the rectangular pieces). I've been looking for something exactly like those but have had no luck.
Cheers.
Easy question! It's very thin MDF. the edges are sanded down even thinner.
Note. You don't take morale test in melee for losing half models. Only losing side takes and loss by 1 wound enough. Not even need to lose models.
And losing model takes wound, doesn't die. Malcador 2w so takes 2 models winning to kill 1. And note it has to be 2 fighting that tank. If 4 malcador face 4 enemy each 1 v 1 then if malcadors lose all it's 4 woundea malcadors.
One way to end with multiple wounded models in unit. And one advantage malcadors have over russ
Edit: ah you noticed it
Never make a comment until you've watched the whole thing 🤣🤣🤣
Problem then is i would forget to comment :)
You're not taking notes?? 🤣
Are the cards and reference sheets available on your website? Couldn't find them under "L" - but they look awesome!
No, I've made Games Workshop aids I can't make available publically, unfortunately.
The point of the Order marhers is that you can't change them, if you put them down wrong the unit gets bad orders and you need to work around it.
Yeah well we're flexible sometimes, this isn't a tournament!
Where is that round marker from?
It's a Gale Force Nine one I picked up from somewhere a long time ago.
Sooooo excited fro Epic Warpath from Mantic
I don't play this but am familiar with old EPIC those movements and ranges seem large are you using inches when it should be cm?
Legions Imperialis uses inches.
LI has very large movement ranges if you march. Infantry goes triple (so on average 15") and vehicles go double (usually 18-20")
Was your titan walking backwards, Peter?
Lucky it's just magnetised not glued!
That looked fun, but... I'm holding out for Mantic's Epic Warpath. The two look like they share a lot of similar DNA, but Mantic always seems to write better rules (full disclosure, I'm participating in their playtest, and the game so far is excellent - and yes, very similar to LI)
I'm looking forward to trying it out too! I do like a bit of variety in my factions I must admit.
Does anyone know if thats the "titanicus" or "gothic ruins" deepcut studios mat? Thinking about getting one myself
Why not ask the guy who made the video, you know, me? 🤣 It's the Gothic Ruins mat.
You should play Epic 40k 3rd Edition again, it is a better ruleset.
Oh I should, should I???? 🤣
Where was that mat from, couldn’t make out the name?
Deep-Cut Studio 50:22
I've put a link in the show notes.
The game seems much simpler than 40k. Thoughts?
I'd say about the same complexity, with the exception that there is far less variety in units, and therefore special abilities.
@@EsotericOrderGamers thanks! That’s what I didn’t like about 40k. Would bog down with soooo many special rules with all the strategems. Looks like this may not have all that?
I really, really wanted to love Legions but good lord, between the price, lack of availability, and the lack of xenos factions I said the &$#* with it and went in on the Mantic Epic kickstarter. I’ve waited this long I can wait a little longer. Love the battle reports though, thanks for the games! Also, fantastic job on the terrain and minis, they look awesome!
Understandable. Watch out for Mantic Epic action in the future, I intend to play it!
The lack of availability has been sorted over here (by here I mean the UK) but I get the impression than in the southern hemisphere it remains very hard to get?
