    Well done, sir! Great video and smoked BBQ. I've had my PBC for a couple months now and have done four cooks on it. All have turned out good, but I definitely will be trying to replicate your pork butt cook! Good stuff!!!

      Thanks Raymond! The PBC works some magic with pork and chicken, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Smoke em if ya got em!! 👉💨

    Great to see another Barlow video!
    You're right about tenderness. It's a tactile thing, not a gadget one. And the pitmaster's knowing the smoker's capabilities. From one end of the country to the other, keep smokin, brother!

      We took a 6 week trip to Florida, not a lot of opportunity for BBQ since there was only a propane grill at the condo 😅

    Great Video. I just tried my first "Hot and Fast" pork shoulder in the PBC last weekend. 12 pound shoulder done in 8hrs 20minutes it was great. Big fan of the PBC.

    I want to loan our pit barrel to our son-in-law. They want pulled pork. Problem, they want to eat at noon. He doesn't want to get up at 3 AM! Would it work to smoke the pork to 155 approx the day before. Wrap and put it in the frig. Then put it on the smoker at 8 AM?

    Have you tried hanging it vs the grates? And you're using the regular Kingsford?

      Haven't tried hanging yet, but need to try it soon! And yep, just using regular ole Kingsford blue 👌

    Do you add more charcoal thru out the cook to maintain heat

    • @BarlowBBQ
      @BarlowBBQ  Před 4 lety

      In general, it's not necessary. The Pit Barrel holds a lot of charcoal and can last several hours.

  • @LarryMFjohnson
    @LarryMFjohnson Před 5 lety

    Heeyyyy there you guys are!! Well, missed Martha but good to see you Matt. Those butts looked nice bro, and I am def gonna try that BBQ sauce. Do you have any tips on how to create a thicker bark for pork butts?

    • @BarlowBBQ
      @BarlowBBQ  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Larry!! Sorry for not replying sooner - it’s hard sometimes keeping up with all the comments. But anyways...
      For a thicker bark, you may try using more rub. I also think really letting that bark set up before you wrap will help keep it from getting washed out. Having a bit of sugar in there helps out as well, but watch those temps so ya don’t burn it!

    • @LarryMFjohnson
      @LarryMFjohnson Před 5 lety

    @miketabar2327 Před 5 lety

    Nice video. Way to emphasize that it's not about the time and temp it's about the tenderness. Thanks

    • @BarlowBBQ
      @BarlowBBQ  Před 5 lety

      You got it, Mike! Time and temp are important but tenderness trumps em all. Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend! 🤙

    • @BarlowBBQ
      @BarlowBBQ  Před 5 lety +1

      YES! 👍👍 I have a Weber, too and I follow all the exact same steps. We’re planning on making a video on how to do a pork butt on the Weber, but you’ve got the inside scoop. 😉 Let me know if you’ve got any questions. Thanks for getting in touch!

    Fat up or fat down.? Thanks my friend.

  • @mattwitas5181
    @mattwitas5181 Před 3 lety

    Fat side up or down?

    • @BarlowBBQ
      @BarlowBBQ  Před 3 lety +1

      Great question! I always do fat side DOWN...why? Because the side without fat will produce better bark, so I leave that side up.
