Going on my first trip back to Disney World as an adult since going when I was a kid, I’m a pin collector now and I can’t wait to pin trade, this was a great video to learn all the tips and tricks! Thanks yall!
How fun!!! Pin trading is honestly one of our favorite things to do in the parks! Definitely keep your eyes peeled - we find most of the pin trading happens in merchandise locations

It’s definitely an issue with how many fakes are out there, BUT it’s always good to have those pins with you as you never know when you’ll find a good one!

I’m new to this channel. This was such a great intro video! Most of the people I like make videos for Disneyland so this was perfect for me. For example, do they actually have trivia pins at WDW like in Disneyland or was that a unique situation you encountered? Please make more pin trading videos, can’t wait to watch! 😊
That was actually the first time we did trivia for a pin! I’m not sure if they do them other places around the parks, but it definitely was a fun surprise!

So many good tips! We bought lanyards a few years ago and have filled them both up. We haven’t pin traded yet because we can’t seem to bring ourselves to part with any of them 😂. I did not even know there were fakes 😳😜! Those fakers trying to fake on everything these days!
It’s definitely hard to trade away your ‘good’ pins! That’s why we love getting those starter sets!
I definitely suggest buying 5-pin mystery bags and trading away your duplicates so it's not so painful to see them go! 😊 That way you can complete sets, but also have good quality pins at the ready for other traders too!
For sure! We have definitely done that too with sets we’ve liked. They used to have the Fanny pack sets that were a GREAT deal.
I buy the Loungefly pins from a friend on Ebay. Another friend has A lot of pins from International parks like Paris and Shanghai
Very cool! Nothing wrong with buying pins on eBay to keep for yourself! Just make sure that you don’t trade fakes so that it makes trading fair for others too!

I have been trading for a long time. I actually have pins from when Disney first started the program. A good place to start your collection is at one Disneys Outlets. There are two official outlets in Orlando. Yall should do a video on them. Also there are some antique/thrift stores where you can buy older pins and even memorabilia. Also, if you attend events at the park look for specialty pins. Back in the day when things first started I actually got Disney pins from Disney Records and some other more industry type pins. It was at the Disneyana convention at the Contemporary.
Love!! We’ve been talking about making a trip out to the antique stores as we’ve seen so much cool stuff there! Checking the outlets for cheap starter pins is a great idea! (If we can ever get there on a not super chaotic day lolololol)

Yes!! Luckily, the fun with pin trading is that you can always trade for something you love whether it’s fake or not! 😁
QUESTION:
I buy pins in bulk and typically trade fakes for fakes. My overall goal is to be in a steady enough financial place to give pins out to strangers to make their day more magical.
Would it be against the spirit of pin trading to give strangers some of my cheap fakes to trade for potential real pins in Disneyland? I think getting people into trading is THE MOST important way that I can spread magic. But denying the price point of fakes seems unrealistic to me. I’d love to trade $15 pins for a potential $20 pin and say “wow what a trade”. But honestly seeing even one real pin is a rarity these days.
To summarize: to spread fakes? Or to only spread authentic.
We are in the camp of not adding more fakes to the pool, but that’s totally just our opinion! That’s why we like getting the starter packs with as low a cost as we can, so that we are adding more real pins to the mix, but also aren’t spending an insane amount of money either.
The more people trade real pins, and the less people add fake pins to the pool, the better it ends up being for everyone!
Again, that’s just our opinion. Totally ok if others don’t agree! 😁
Another tip I heard recently is to keep an eye out on shop Disney when they have sales. Apparently you can score some super heavily discounted pins that way too!

We don’t typically trade fake pins if we can help it, but if we get one off the board, we don’t particularly have the money to just throw away pins. (Especially when we spend money on real pins specifically to trade), so yes, we will trade those back on occasion. It’s all for fun anyway and someone will love that pin! We just don’t advocate for those that buy a bunch of bulk pins online, because that ACTUALLY adds to the problem.
I appreciate your response. I don’t trade in the parks. I understand most of the pins on the boards are fake. But I do see some CZcamsrs that manage to find some pretty nice pins. The thrill of the hunt I guess
@Phasselcastle we do find some great ones from time to time! It’s definitely one of those things that you just have to keep your eye out for, but it seems like they are adding new pin boards (and cast members with pin lanyards) all the time! 😁
