  • Want to know how to conduct a basic data analysis using Stata? We show you just that. Watch as we show you how to import data into Stata from Excel, how to change the display format of a variable, how to label variables and the values of categorical variables, how to create new variables, how to describe and summarize variables, and how to create several kinds of graphs.
    Next we demonstrate how to fit a linear regression model, how to calculate and graph marginal predictions from the model, and how to send those commands to Stata's Do-file editor. The video ends with a discussion of how to learn more about Stata using the Help files, PDF documentation, and the search command.

    This is supposed to be an intro: "Getting started with STATA. As with all tech people, the author goes too fast and covers too many details. The author assumes you have a background in Stata language, but as a beginner, I don't have. I would need to listen and pause the video a few times to get a handle on this.

    I can not change the properties of my variables because the variables property boxes is greyed out ( it can't be altered). Could you please explain why this is, and how I can change it? Thank you very much.

    • @statacorp
      @statacorp  Před rokem

      In Stata's Command window, type *sysuse auto* . In the 'File' dropdown, select 'Export' and then 'Data to Excel spreadsheet'. This will save the data in Excel format and place it in your Stata folder. Contact tech-support@stata.com if you have any further questions and someone will be happy to help out.
