I’m not sure the average person can fully appreciate how hard it is to maintain that speed AND stamina.
I only ran 48s in high school, I can just imagine how hard it is for how fast these dudes was running.
Tbh long as you can run the 400 you’re straight i ran outdoor 400 come December you’re already conditioned to go the distance just let it all out as if you’re running out door smoke that track twice in no time 💪🏽
Strange statement. Of course the average person eats too much, sleeps, works then repeats. An athlete thats trains hard is rewarded with a body that accomplishes his/her goal with the greatest of efficiency. Effortlessly you could say.

Not used to seeing anyone hang with Boling on that opening 400 leg. Incredible race! Honestly couldn't see who hit the line first without the slo-mo replay.
If he does get off to another good start UGA might pull a upset over UF and A&T will be forced to watch Ross go into phone booth and turn into SUPERMAN once again like he did at Clemson.

Roles should reverse for the NCAA Championship and Boling should anchor but Georgia won't likely do this.Some of this is intuitive on my part as I've seen Boling do that legendary 44.74s 400m split anchor in high school from fifteen meters back to victory.Boling needs to anchor against Champion which will force him to enter that hawk zone he posesses.I don't think Boling fades as badly at the end of his sprints as Elijah does and he has the foot speed to catch up a deficit to the high speed cruise Florida or AT will surely be into.It'll likely take an indoor 3:01 something to win that title.I believe it's doable for Georgia but it's no easy feat as both Florida's and maybe a couple others are super stocked in their quarter miler quartets.I think I understand this somewhat as the Bulldogs mostly recruit outstanding football prospects depth chart wise because that's where the major money is(pro bound football hopefuls and March Madness) type guys.I don't agree with this as T&F is the greatest sport on earth and where the truly greatest athletes come from and get leeched into the big 3 money sports most of the time.It disappoints me greatly that Georgia's depth of numbers in recruiting great talent across multiple events pales comparatively speaking to the half dozen teams that smoked them point wise in the team standings at SEC Championships.

Boling's run a 44.74s anchor 400m two and a half years ago and he's even run a faster split as a leg runner of the Bulldog team in the 400m than his 45.51 leadoff split when they won this 2022 SEC Championship. How many college runners can say that even now? Plenty? Very few I suspect and that's not "plenty" .That 44.74s I told you was real, legitimate,and he wasn't getting a typical good motion start-as the third leg of that team was totally lactic acid fatigued and Boling was at nearly a dead stop when he took the baton.Frankly because Boling chose the scholastic/athletic ride instead of turning pro as Eeriyon Knighton did has been a bit of an an impediment to his rate of development.This is because Boling's a sprinter jumper that can compete in about a half dozen different events and Georgia uses him as a point mule to promote the Bulldogs.

Godwin got VERY lucky at the end. The dip was just a spasm across the line. Kind of a miracle that he got it. But very intelligent running by Georgia's third-leg athlete, who forced Florida to run wide the whole way around.

No such thing as luck.Luck implies chaos.Both runners purposely leaned.They didn't lean spasmodically as you described.Godwin's lean won.Florida's sprint team is loaded with recruited talent and their 4×400m quartet particularly.Florida had 3 guys in the top five finishers in the open 400m SEC Championship race I believe.Georgia won that SEC Championship on balls out running over their heads.Godwin and Boling are extremely talented bookends to that quartet but it was actually their second and third runners that improved enough for them to outlast Florida's fantastic wealth of recruited sprinting talent.I expect both Florida,NCA&T to be the favorites at the NCAA Championships next Friday and for Georgia to have any chance at winning everyone on that quartet will have to improve because it's going to take at least a 3:01 and change to win the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championship.If I'm Georgia's coaches I put Boling at anchor and Godwin at lead and tell the younger guys it's gonna take both of them in the 45's to win.I think Boling is able to and will be forced into the 44's even though he's not currently specifically targeted and sharpened for the 400m.

3rd leg was the key for Georgia. Blistering start and never gave up the lead once he had it.
Florida anchor leaned too early. I think if he would’ve run through the line he would’ve just got him. Will be a good re-match at NCAAs.

Bryce McRae's quick take over at the beginning of the third leg made all the difference here, Godwin crowded the line on handover exchange and stepped pretty deep in the way of Florida, much more of that he could have been dinged for interference, think that's what saved him from Florida's anchor. Godwin's wide swinging arms make him a bit harder to pass as well. I'm not complaining or calling foul, it's the way the game is played, just calling it like it is.

McRae dipping in and "stealing" the lead position did take energy out of the opposition... He did his very best. And that "box out" by Godwin soon after the handoff, slowed Champs momentum just enough to give Godwin a boost. Godwin also ran in the center to the outside of the lane to force Champ to run further if he wanted to win.

Florida got 1,2, &4 in the open 400. They lost because the Georgia runners were more aggressive and had Florida running in lane 2 the entire race.

@@leeolie3728 I’m not sure what that meant. The Georgia team had a strategy. They have slower runners so they made Florida run a longer race. That’s why they were literally pushing the Florida guys out of the way. If Florida would have tried the same thing, they’d be fighting and the third place team would have won.

I came here to watch Bolling... but was more impressed by Bryce McCray (spelling? McFray?) He made a statement after the third leg handoff that opened my eyes. The man took being a bulldog to heart!

I’ve noticed that on indoor tracks, they always seem to move slow. Not sure why.
Because they are both going fast at the same time. If one was way faster than the other you would see the speed.

I miss running so badly. Was top third in my state, 4A. Used to run the 4x100, 4x400 and 400. The euphoric feeling after burning hard the last 75m and winning can’t ever be matched.

I ran at the 6A Texas UIL state meet back in high school in the 400 against Matt and Champion, and let me tell you those two guys are the truth, Champion won and I believe Matt got 4th but he was a freshman or sophomore and champ was a senior. For any curious I got 8th out of 9 😂

@Johnny Sins LOL. I'm cool w/ Boling. We all know Champion is a better open 400M guy than Godwin. Godwin did what he had to in order to win. The other guys including Boling all played a part. There was a lot of work put in to make the win possible.
Without the aggressive positioning and jostling where required none of this would be possible.
I admire how bad they wanted to win. You can just see it all over them💪🏾

McCray's leg "looked" more spectacular with the aggressive lane grab and 2nd and 3rd winds. But it was mid 46 seconds, around 46.6. Cavenaugh was 45.37. I thought McCray actually ran faster and they flipped the split times, but I double checked watching the film. Cavenaugh did indeed run the 45.37, and McCray did aggressively do his job but it was a little slower, but awesome leg, awesome relay.
When he was handed the baton, Godwin bumped into the Florida runner on purpose with his first 2 steps. Smart/dirty move

@@dwightlove3704 : Bryce McCray will pick it up at Nationals. He ran a non-qualifying 47.42 in the open 400 heats while Caleb Cavanaugh ran a non-qualifying 47.09 in the open 400. Cavanaugh came back with a 45.37 second leg so I think McCray can also go faster when pushed by NCAT and Florida.
This was a hell of a race! 200m track at that. The psychology of that alone. Kudos to FL as well all that trying to pass on the curve! FL put in a lot of work on the pass attempts and still kept great pace-they should be proud -but try to relax and put in on the straightaway into the curve- then dominate the curve- honestly. Just a hell of a race to all those guys.

Boling is a beast. Still raw at times, but if he can improve his overall smoothness and run with more fluidity, he's looking at great chances for gold in multiple events in Paris '24.

2:12 - Great race, I thought Georgia violated Florida's lane on the hand-off of the last leg. It look like to me Georgia entered and blocked Florida's lane in the hand-off for about 5-10 yards.

The same thing you claim was perpetrated on Florida by Georgia was actually done to the Bulldogs in a race(by NCA&T) that took place around a month before that.I believe Ross was so aggressive against Godwin in his anchor that Godwin half expected a foul to be called and he noticeably broke speed but nothing was called so he had to pick it back up. Bottom line is a little "Roller Ball" type action isn't uncommon in high stakes races and apart from intentional spiking fouls and the like those guys have yo be prepared to dish out some aggressiveness as well as endure some of it.
@@paultoy9611 It's all good, this isn't a pissing contest about who did who wrong, I'm not more a fan of one team over the other, both are awesome. It was just an observation, as I'm not too familiar with the rules, and what is allowed or not.
@@paultoy9611 Ross literally pushed Godwin by the hip aside and ran inside of him. You see Godwin looking back like "wtf". It happened because Godwin didn't aggressively shut down the inside lane. This race none of the Georgia guys made that mistake. They were aggressive and took their space.

I was in track in middle school and high school. 400m is one of the hardest to run. Only the most athletic can run it well. That race was amazing.
