This was a solid (albeit lopsided) Pitt team in 2016. They had a *VERY* good offense that could score on anyone (41 pts per game). They beat eventual ACC/National Champs #2 Clemson and Big Ten Champions #5 Penn State that year -- with the PSU loss to Pitt ultimately costing PSU a playoff birth lol. Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada called a brilliant offensive game against both of them. Lots of misdirection, shovel passes, jet sweeps, etc. It's no surprise that LSU threw a boat load of money at Canada to hire him from Pitt at the end of the season.
The problem with 2016 Pitt was their defense which gave up 35 pts per game -- it was flat out bad and it's precisely why they lost to teams like UNC, Miami, and VTech that year. If Pitt were more balanced with even a mediocre defense, they could have possibly won the ACC.
Alas, they can't recruit 4 and 5 star players at every position on both sides of the ball (they're lucky to get even one 4 star player in each recruiting class lol). So, as a die hard Pitt fan; these victories don't come often and I really cherish them.
Idk, man. That Pitt defense sure made some plays in this game when it counted most.

Their next 5 games are all really tough
Pitt always seems to struggle vs UVA and UNC, not to mention Duke has given them some games and Pitt has only beaten Miami twice since joining the ACC in 2013
The year Clemson lost this particular game and then ran the table and ended up winning the national championship, beating Alabama in an epic rematch in Tampa
We were spoiled when I went to Pitt from 1977 to 1981 right after we won the national championship and always in the top 10. We were always the best team in the nation during those years.

It's crazy how much NFL Talent is in this game. Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams, Hunter Renfrow, Ray Ray McCloud, James Connor, Avonte Maddox, Jordan Whitehead, Nate Peterman (even though he is a backup, Qadree Ollison, and I know there are more that I didn't list.
That 2016 Pitt Backfield was loaded with talent, James Conner, George Aston, Darrin Hall, and Qadree Ollsion crazy how good that running game was

I have no attachment to either team (Auburn fan), but I just happened to watch this whole game as it happened and as a lover of a good David and Goliath moment in sports it was very exciting to watch

It was a very good win for Pitt, but Clemson went on to win the national title that season. So, this loss was basically a wake up call for Clemson to win out the rest of the season and they did

I remember this day. Two other teams in the top five also suffered upsets. Later on that night, #3Michigan would lose at Iowa and #4Washington would fall at home to #16USC.
And we did it again, well not shocked the college landscape but beat clemson
