Max reads about UFC, he’s very knowledgeable on fighting but you can tell he doesn’t actually WATCH the sport nor does he love it. You can tell

@@cookazor not really man, most old school boxing fans I know actually have a good deal of contempt for mma in general. They're hung up on the whole "sweet science" nonsense and talk down to mma fighters in general. I'm not saying that this is absolutely the case with Max, just that you shouldn't assume someone is a fan of MMA, just because they like Boxing. Rugby fans don't necessarily like football, baseball fans aren't necessarily into cricket, etc.
@@cookazor Max has fringe knowledge on MMA. He uses mostly his knowledge of boxing and tries to apply it to MMA because there are some similarities. He really exposed himself when he said "UFC has instituted rules to increase striking and decrease grappling" when that's literally never happened. If anything, many of the rules like no grabbing the shorts, fence, fish-hooking, no strikes to a downed opponent, etc. actually favor the grappling. This isn't basketball or football where the rules have changed to favor the offense far more than the defense to cater to the average fan or what us hardcore MMA fans refer to as "casuals". Shows like First Take or Undisputed should bring on more educated analysts on MMA because many hardcore MMA fans on the Internet voicing their opinion for the love of the sport and for free, legitmately have more knowledge than the big time names than Stephen A., Max, Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe, Jalen Rose, etc. Casuals just take their opinion because they're on ESPN and are "experts".

Masvidal is like the most well-spoken SAVAGE I've ever seen. He's so eloquent and nuanced when he talks, you could almost forget he's a fighter if it wasn't for that air of subdued intensity about him. Like a caged tiger.
