The writers did Alan dirty for having him mess things up with Melissa twice. She was the best match for him.
Truly, but I think the writers wanted to portray Alan as the guy who screws up perfect relationships
Alan was the dating world's version of Schelprock.
They needed to prove Alan was the problem because his wife seemed like she could be the entire problem…. To keep the show on track, bringing her in full time for all remaining seasons would have screwed up the “Alan is a total putz” dynamic….
@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ Yeah the real comedy was that Alan tried to do things right, and made a total mess of everything. While Charlie did everything wrong, and everything worked out well.
It was a mature comedy from a time when the gender pendulum was pretty much hanging straight down. It poked fun at women and men fairly equally. You can almost see where things went off the rails, by this and other comedy shows like "The Big Bang Theory".
Literally nobody else would have suited the role of Berta 😢😊
Yep, Conchata Ferrell never tried to be funny; she was just delivering funny one-liners as a matter of fact. RIP.

Yeah or they wouldn't have been able to say... Oh wait no everything in this show was fine, they crossed zero lines, pushed zero boundaries. Pretty standard comedy with a some sex jokes. Do you just go out of your way to cry like a baby non stop?

Always loved Melissa for Alan, wish he would have stuck with her instead of Lindsay, never liked her too much, lol. Melissa was sweet, kind and truly cared for Alan, plus she was so cute.
Melissa was such a great character on the show and she really was good for Allen and she’s so beautiful. What a little hottie!👍🏼🫡🤩❤️
