- In response to HCS coming out with a list of the top 25 best Halo players, I decided to make my own! This was all streamed on my Twitch channel (Ogre2). This video only talks about the top 10, but if you guys would like I would be open to making another video with the rest of the content. Man, seeing some of these names really brings back some nostalgia from the 2005-6 years holy smokes. Used to idolize these guys as me and my crew plowed our way through the ranks of halo2. Sucked so bad getting bridged and hacked on back then. Checking bungie after every game to see how close you were to the new colors of that sweet and succulent next rank.
Yo, the nostalgia I feel watching this video is off the fucking charts. You guys were the reason I got into competitive gaming and your montages were what got me into video editing. I would be so stoked to see you keep making content once Infinite comes out. I was semi retired from gaming and content creation, but I'm coming back just for Infinite
Finally getting to watching this. And hearing you and Ola talk about the points of player 11 and how close it is to the top 10 and then saying you'd be shocked if this wasn't the top 10. Only for ogre 1 to come out 11th is hilarious. They really are unhinged with their list
I think that Walshy deserves to be #1, not because of raw results alone, but because of the fact that he inspired millions of gamers across the world like myself to start playing Halo. When I was a young kid I watched Walshy's montage on airguitar901's channel and was blown away by his amazing plays and the fact that he was a professional gamer. Of course, back then professional gaming was quite new and to be a professional gamer was somewhat of a novelty. Walshy, at his peak, was the leader of Final Boss, arguably the best Halo team of all time. I know that Walshy kinda dropped off after 2008, but as Ogre 1 said longevity does not mean much. In chess, many would say that most modern players eg Aronian would easily beat Kasparov, former world champion. But as far as who is the greatest of all time, I think Kasparov easily takes that title even though he is worse. If you give greater weighting to someone when they are at their peak, Walshy should be given a lot of points because he was a Halo 2 God. Next to Walshy would be the Ogre brothers. Then you could maybe talk about some of the Halo 3 / Reach / 4 "modern" pros like Pistola, Roy, etc. Just my thoughts of course. Walshy's ability to inspire gamers is something that every person in the top 10 list does not even come close to. Case in point - back in the day Walshy and the Ogre brothers were doing a test, where they'd open up their MSN / AOL (not sure what it was) to see who got the most messages. Walshy won by a long mile, showing that back then he was highly respected. Thanks Walshy for inspiring me to play Halo. You will forever be inscribed in the history books as the greatest for me. Your undying legend will never be forgotten.

Can relate. When I was 12, I posted a clip of me assassinating Ogre 2 in H4. Not ninja'ing - just walking behind him while he was fighting someone else and pressing B lol. Just because I got to play against and kill the GOAT. That's some legacy and prestige right there.

Love this content, though it can be a salt mine on twitter. As a player from OH, any opinions from the Ogres is heavily weighted to me. A lot of people can't understand the potency of talent at early events for h1/h2. Absurdly competitive and if only esports was then what it is now but some games had to walk so others could run. Thank you for your input and list, nostalgia at its finest.

Would love to see a list of your top 10 slayers. I remember playing games with G-Spot and he would consistently out slay the top guys but never had much success with teams or objectives.

Good to see you still rocking. Just curious to see if you remember playing against Death Angel and Blood Angel (or Texmexmc and Minimofo) from the Stick Up Boyz? This would have been back in Halo CE Xbconnect and Halo 2 when STK was #1, and we were #2 in clan matchmaking back in the early days. Really enjoyed the games even though you guys had us in most matches.
I remember you guys staying at my hotel in Seattle (Sheraton) back in like '06 for an event. Your team manager or whomever came up to the desk to get room keys and I recognized the room/suite and I mentioned I was a huge fan. He asked I I wanted to meet you guys and I had to decline. Fanboy would have been geeking out. Maybe after work would have been better, 😆. I think it was near the time of the Gilbert Arenas signing.

Used to have to play against Pistola and GunShot at every local 2v2 lan tournament back in the day… we would always meet in the finals, never won a series against them haha. I always thought they were two of the most individually gifted players around and they were lethal as a duo.

It will be so hard to ever put somebody over you in the goat discussion. Look at the top list of players, you beat them all, (other than the current halo 5 guys) in their primes! Everyone agrees halo 2/3 was the golden era of halo, and you were the undisputed king of that era. And we aren’t even talking about the undefeated 2v2 record you and ogre 1 have! Personally I think it would take a lot for Lethul or any other active player to pass you. Loved the video and totally understand why you gotta be humble and objective with your list.

The first pro I ever watched was Heinz, he got me into competing halo. Then ogre 2 became my favourite pro #1 I learned a lot from him ah I miss the old days

Ogre2, lethul, pistola, ogre11, walshy, snipedown, roy, lbx, snakebite, royal 2.

Ogre 2
Pistola
Snipedown/Ogre 1/Walshy
(I think any of the bottom 3 can make arguments from where to put them 3-5) but the top 5 is those guys in some order with Ogre 2 on top and ola second.
Hey, thanks for the awesome list! Quick question, why is Saiyan left off of everyone's top 25 lists? I see he has tons of wins, and was part of StK/3D/FB.
This is a well thought out list imo. Most stunned by SB being placed over Ola. No disrespect to SB. Least here needed NO argument for #1.
Ola is the only one who can pass you in my opinion. He’s still playing at an unbelievable level and he’s just as iconic; and if he pulls out a couple infinite tournaments he’s right there for me. Lethul is looking very average at infinite right now.

Hard to argue this list. Only change would be walshy over snipedown. All of their stats are extremely similar except walshy has 7 more wins.
Snipedown is still competing tho. I think that matters more

Let’s be real… when we see a “halo top x list” we really mean halo 1-3
After these first two open events in Infinite. Ola is already started to make a case for #1 and Saiyan/Lucid is making a case for top 10 if they both continue like this in Infinite

@@xdan9xx I realized after posting this that the Saiyan he has on his list isn’t the same one that changed his name to Lucid. My fault. Lucid used to be Saiyan so I thought if he was already that high he would move up then realized it was a different Saiyan from H1/H2 days

What's crazy to me is Formal is #17 on the placements list and the guy spend the last half decade and change climbing all the way to top 5 all time (arguably 4th) in CoD before retiring.
If there would be an obvious goat debate in any sport or esport it would be halo and football for me

H4 is not weighted much, since a LOT of pros stopped competing in there

While I’ve got your attention, may I please be an absolute pain and ask about your controller settings? I’m really struggling to find the right feeling setting for me, deadzones etc are all ok but it’s my look and move threshold and my sens, I was running both thresholds at 15 and look acceleration 5 with 4.0 sens but feel like I over aim so much, I’ve tried dripping the sens but doesn’t seem to make a difference, is it because of the thresholds?

@@2gre you're the GOAT and by all standards probably the best ever but ever since I've watched Ola play I've been mind blown, achievements aside, I've never seen anyone play at the peak Ola can achieve when firing on all cylinders. Respect you for being humble champ.
Is this ranking for gameplays too? Frosty should be up in top 5. Frosty a great gameplay and his movement is sick especially with sniper (H5 and Infinite).
Halo 5 and Infinite are played on 120 FPS
30 FPS was played for halo 2, 3
120 FPS is 10 times easier then playing on 30 FPS
Especially when using the sniper

I don’t know any pro player personally, but I seriously doubt anyone is going argue you putting yourself at #1. And I really don’t think TJ would be insulted being behind Ogre 1 at this point in time. I think Infinite will change many things. New players will emerge and players like Frosty will likely rise a bit; from the perspective of a fan of the game.

2gre can't be passed at this point. Given the state of Halo, there is nothing that someone could do that would change my mind. Thats not even being a fanboy, there are two different styles of halos, and Lethul is only good at one of them. Never was spectacular at any of the originals.
