  • Bravo Company embarks on the next leg of their thrilling expedition, seeking the entrance to the Journey to the Center of the Earth, as described by Jules Verne. #zetros #exmo #vanlife
Their mission includes detecting radioactive radiation, a task for which Julian, a nuclear research specialist, is well-equipped.
First, however, their truck needs refueling. Diesel prices are at 2.10 Euros, a surprising cost, much like the sight of half of Iceland painted in rainbow colors. "I've missed something," thinks the Lieutenant.
Despite this, the mood in the capsule is high, with live music accompanying their journey. The Lieutenant realizes that strict discipline is not expected from Team Bravo. Instead, he takes inspiration from the Icelandic moss and lichens around him, creating a camouflage pattern. The natural beauty and the sound of a nearby stream under full sunshine create a magical moment on the island.
As they venture further north in Iceland, Team Bravo discovers a longwave transmitter, much to Julian's delight. A fan of longwave frequencies, he eagerly uses his homemade devices to capture and display the frequencies, playing corresponding tones.
The day ends successfully with the sheep unharmed. Dinner features a homemade salad by Italian chef Nico, paired with a dry Markelsheimer Tauberberg Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is fresh, full-bodied, and aromatic, with flavors of passion fruit, green pepper, orange, and gooseberry.
Bravo Company travels to the end of the field road and beyond, marching until they reach the northernmost outpost. Beyond lies only the North Pole and then, metaphorically, a descent to Siberia. The Lieutenant muses on the concept of direction on a spherical Earth: "If you move on a sphere, you are always going downhill. Or uphill. Or sideways, depending on how you see it. It's all in the interpretation."
Cameras roll, wine is shared, and the midsummer celebration begins. However, clouds obscure the event. Still, the Lieutenant sees this as another spectacle and plans to try again the next night. After a soak in a natural hot pot, they successfully capture the sunset through the panoramic window of the truck cabin.
Join us on an unforgettable 'GRAND TOUR' through Iceland's rugged wilderness with our Mercedes Zetros Exmo Expedition Truck! Immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of this captivating land.
King Julian’s main focus in Iceland is neither radioactivity nor longwave frequencies, but obsidian, a natural volcanic glass. Formed from rapidly cooling lava, obsidian requires specific conditions to solidify within months, days, or even minutes.
King Julian has researched and believes a large chunk of obsidian lies somewhere out there. The path is steep, treacherous, and very far. Equipped with the most advanced GPS tracker, Bravo Company sets out. Julian finds the stone, and they make the arduous journey back through the highlands, battling strong winds and rain.
Their reward awaits: a warm, eternal shower for the team! ‪@peteruppert‬
