I love Alex’s reaction to what Jim bullock and Debbie Reynolds were doing.
Starts at 14:37 - "A class show. (pause) Last time out, ladies and gentlemen, we were on the air for six months. We shouldn't make it past next Friday at this rate."
It's as if Alex was doing an impersonation of Will Ferrell's SNL impersonation of him.
@@bschafer78This time, we know if WILL FERRELL as the real SNL ALEX TREBEK did Celebrity Jeopardy! Since these 1996 on NBC in a collection.
Paul Lynde would have started a riot on that show had he still been alive.
This is an amazing show ! God, everyone was so much more fun back then . I was a junior in high school and loving every minute
I had my appendix removed several days before this date (age 9) and I remember watching this and other NBC game shows while laid up in my hospital bed. Despite the surgery, this brings back great memories!
Its the Hollywood Triangles!
Thank you for this wink!!! 1983 was my year!!!!
14:05 - Jim J. Bullock and Debbie Reynolds have done their own stunts in this premiere episode.
This wasn't a bad game show. Even though it was a spin-off of Hollywood Squares. Since these game shows were very similar, but also with a slight difference. But also & this is my opinion, the network Buzzr should work out a deal with Amazon/MGM who now owns the rights to Battlestars to air on Buzzr.
RIP Alex Trebeck
It's a shame that I never got to see this show cause it aired at 12 noon eastern in Toledo, OH. Local news was on then.
You’re talking WTVG 13 now an ABC affiliate. It did the same on WDIV in Detroit. The closest NBC affiliate to have the new Battlestars is WKYC 3 Cleveland.
This and "Dream House" premiered on this date.
22:05 The timesup signal would later be used as the Speedword sound on Scrabble.
Instead of reboots of established game show classics, I would rather see reboots be done of game shows that were never given a proper chance to begin with. One of these is Battlestars.
Thanks Wink. Trivia Question for the followers: Which two stars were on tv shows that started on Network Television, but had either an equally or longer successful run in syndication?
Libertu Bey, that would be Jm J. Bullock of "Too Close For Comfort" which originally ran on ABC, and Vicki Lawrence of "Mama's Family" which originally ran on NBC.
22:05 We'll play the rest of the game in Speedword. Hands on your buzzers, wait 'til I say go.
(Scrabble sound effects ensues, word is outlined on the Scrabble board)
Scott did good on the first episode. 😀👍
A little over a year later, he would begin to host Jeopardy.
I wanna see wizard of odds or press your luck pilot
Since it was produced by Merrill Heatter, who also produced Hollywood Squares (and had similarities to Hollywood Squares), Battlestars/All New Battlestars was given the nicknamed "Hollywood Triangles".
This and All Star Blitz are clones of Hollywood Squares.
That first game was almost as bad as the You Fool episode on Hollywood Squares. Except poor Debbie seemed like she had a meltdown. Lol But I loved these episodes of this "Class Show."
I remember seeing the Debbie Reynolds portion online many years ago.
She wanted to be right and help them win, but I think she put so much pressure on herself (combined with the pressures of Hollywood) that she really got upset. If I was a contestant, I’d have tried to reassure her as best I could.
How did you get ahold of these? I remember this in first run when I was a kid!
Whether it’s him or not running this channel, my guess is he had a lot of production sway originally. As such, the Hollywood connections probably got him the rights. But I would love to see some of these pilots be reattempted nowadays.
This seems like a knock off of Hollywood Squares
That's exactly what I said when I saw the board and heard the rules.
Same creator. Mr. Heatter ripped himself off.
That's because it's created by Merrill Heatter who created Hollywood Squares.
A popular nickname for this show is "Hollywood Triangles"
@@pem1974Silly me. It’s the All New Battle-Stars!
Who on the panel once owned a short lived casino in Las Vegas?
Debbie Reynolds
I don't think this was very interesting. Had to stop watching after Debbie left.
