- You have probably heard the term incontinence, but do you really know what it is? Incontinence is loss of control of a person’s bowels or bladder that results in accidental leakage of body fluids and waste. Therefore, it’s a physical problem but also one that can diminish quality of life. Someone dealing with incontinence may avoid sex, physical activities, social outings, and hobbies out of fear they may leak urine or stool.
Fortunately, AUI can help with this life-altering problem. Medtronic’s InterStim Therapy, which could be called a “pacemaker for the bladder,” works great for those who have frequent urges to urinate. With surgical implantation of the InterStim device, a thin wire with a small electrode is placed near the sacral nerve. The device produces electrical impulses, which are sent to the sacral nerves and reduce hyperactivity of the bladder.
Dr. Ali Syed of AUI has helped countless patients enjoy a drastic improvement in quality of life thanks to InterStim therapy.
If you’d like to learn more about what this treatment entails, we strongly encourage you to watch the video. You can also attend one of Dr. Syed’s seminars on InterStim therapy.
It just might be your ticket to relief and a normal life.

I’m nearly 79 and had problems sometime, worse very much so last year…..I’m active exercise regularly combat 5 years from surgery of lung cancer, so real very much healthy. This situation now keeps me depressed and can’t do much active stuff and really a pain on my traveling…….thanks much
I had no problems with FI until I had Interstem inserted-I still have to catch and the FI I do not feel when it happens
Does the trial allow you to adjust ?
What about nerve damage?
Does the Device interfere with sexual activity.
Absolutely not
Having trial on 01/29
Do you leave the therapy on all the time. Or do you turn off
I prefer to leave mine on 24/7. It’s unpleasant to have it off and feel uncontrollable urgency and frequency that’s disruptive and interferes with my quality of life.
It’s your choice whichever way you prefer. Keep it on 24/7 like I do or only keep it on when you’re away from home.
@@lunagingeymittens419 Thank you
Can you swim with this?
I have many trips to bathroom at night and I often don't make it on time just a short walk to bedroom potty
You might try hailing a cab. Works for me…
Maybe cut down on the amount of liquids before bedtime. Or limit it entirely, but only if you’re comfortable and tolerate a dry mouth. I can’t tolerate that so I must have some hot tea. You’re not alone in this. it’s more common than you think for anyone with bladder incontinence, urgency and frequency. The InterStim device helps reduce those symptoms.
@@john-brady why you feel the need to be rude and insensitive about this?
@@lunagingeymittens419 Rude an insensitive? Sorry but I can’t recall what I wrote so I can’t respond to that.
@@lunagingeymittens419 OK I found it - I guess my sense of humor isn’t for everyone. I’ve suffered from urinary incontinence for over a decade and I use the Medtronic - without much success. I’ve been chronically Ill since I was 45 and I’m now 71 and suffer from multiple ailments including metastatic cancer of the bones. It all started when my kidneys failed in mid-life.
I guess I’ve developed a cynical outlook on health issues over the last 25 years. I suppose you could say it’s a survival mechanism.
My sense of irony and my sense of humor isn’t for everyone. Thanks for reminding me. Be well…
