Just stumbled on your video, was looking for info on peco boots since I just got a pair for an absolute steal ( 25 dollars shipped to me), they dont have any red wing tags, just union made on the inside and good year on the bottoms of the heals. The condition was poor in the photos, but once I cleaned them up, they just turned out great.

Actually, I am not too terribly heartbroken as I recently found 2 pair of Durango Vintage Boots in a local Salvation Thrift Store and they were in a very similar condition and well maintained by the previous owner(s) to these 1472 Red Wings. So, while they may not have quite the pedigree; my two pair give me a complete understanding of what you have. #3. I am in the same camp as you: I condition the entire boot just the parts visible or exposed to the elements. #4. Indeed they look fabulous in the "On Feet" segment. In reference to clothing worn by cowboys(I don't how this applies to western wear worn as 'costume' in films)that they strongly preferred really fresh looking NEW non distressed denim since the fabric is this state provided(s) far more abrasion protection than fashionably worn looking denim. I have no idea how this might about to Chinos. Thanks for sharing! Be A Boot!
I nabbed me a pair of vintage pecos #9801 I believe. I got them in a similar condition as yours (almost new) for about $70 on poshmark. I enjoy the way they fit and feel good. They look pretty nice although I would prefer that burgandy color on yours. Any info on the #9801? I am mostly a western boots guy but I do like the red wing iron ranger copper ruff n tuff. I also got the Pecos #1178 that you reviewed as well. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm on the bootworld...
What's your routine for cleaning a pair of used boots that you have purchased? More specifically, how do you go about cleaning and sanitizing the inside of a pair of previously owned boots?

@@CJCook so, I’m a 9D in the number 8 last, but with the 1155 I can’t quite tell. In Pecos, 9D is tight, but too big because the shaft is too forward in position and needs a higher instep, so my foot slides forward. The 9E is ok in width, but same problem. I found a pair in 8.5EEE, and I’m hoping those will actually lock my instep in place so my foot doesn’t slide forward and hit the toe box like with the 9 sizes. Which is why I figured I’d ask before taking the gamble on them.
What a Great Find! Made in the 1970's. I agree Red Wing should bring back these type Boots. I agree could not happen to a better person.

For the inside I do what the bowling alley folks do. A good ol' disinfectant spray. For the outside: depending how dirty... saddle soap does the job.

How’s the sizing on these compare to the number 8 last and the 1155 Pecos?
Usually the Pecos are in an E width. I go a half size up from my last 8 size.

@@a-macduff EEE is really wide. I tried on a 9EE and the only way it works work is with a full insert but I didn't want to go that route.

Half size up from your Moc Toe size with a D with. Or, choose your moc toe size with an E width.
