Things to do in Courtenay, BC. TIPS from a LOCAL.

- Hi friends! We loved Courtenay, BC and found some really great things to do there. It’s a definite must-stop on any Vancouver Island road trip. While moochdocking at a friend’s house, we got the insider’s scoop on what to do in Courtenay. We had a great time exploring the food scene (Mel was in donut heaven at Bigfoot Donuts!), checking out a beautiful sandy beach (a seal even came up to Jay!), and spending some time at Nymph Falls (this is a really cool spot to swim, watch salmon in the Fall, and admire cascading waterfalls). There is so much to see and do in this area that we didn’t get to do it all, but it gives us a very good reason to go back.

Is Courtenay close to Nanaimo and Victoria?
Courtenay is about 1-hr drive north of Nanaimo and Nanaimo is about 1.5-2 hours drive north of Victoria. Hope this helps 😀

Thanks! Oh, and that was really great you had that GoPro available. The DJI cam worked in a pinch, but the GoPro actually does much better with colours underwater. Can't wait to get to Mexico and see what we can find in the ocean there! 🐬🐠🦈

I would highly recommend taking a look at www.workbc.ca/ -- It's a great resource for finding work in the province.
if you do go to nymph falls, be very careful the rocks are very slippery and if you fall against them, they are very hard. good for waying in, up to your ankles. super bad for swimming tho, with the rocks, its not deep enough to swim in. look for a place with a beach.

Sadly nymph has been spoiled due to videos like this and the cvrd adverts. People come and leave garbage. Now us locals have to pick up after them, it’s awful.
It Used to be a natural place and now seems daily new benches and structures are added. Tour busses come too. Awful.
Definitely not cool if visitors are not using the trash bins and outhouses provided.
