- Better quality upload of John Cale, founding member of the Velvet Underground, interviewed about his career whilst on tour of Australia and New Zealand as a solo artist in 1983. Big thanks to Mike Squier's personal archive, this interview has John Cale discussing his own music and role as producer in seminal early punk records in the 1970's

Thanks for uploading this it's great.
"I'd say it's not depressing enough. 'You may think things are bad now, but they're gonna get worse.'"
Chinese envoy was here but left😢❤
Cale looks much healthier and sounds articulate. He finally managed to get off the drug and quite drinking around 1983.
It was 1985
He would have died if he'd have carried on he was warned by his doctor
Yeah his daughter was born then and his health was shot...failing liver and all coked out...gorged on champagne they said.
agree. very sexy here.
@@wineinmyfeet3741 Absolutely. Concert footage from 83 and 84 still shows him sweating the poisons out.
""Honi Soit was heavy metal.." 🤣
Carnt work out his accent
it's so interesting because he doesn't look welsh to me. he looks ethnically asian-mixed or from eastern europe.
A lot of Britons (Welsh, Manx, Cornish) look like John, that slight swarthy appearance. The other half of us are more Gaelic looking but somewhere in between. I’m ginger bearded but have dark hair 🙂🏴
@@DdraigGoch84 Yeh I'm from the UK but he doesn't look typically welsh or like anyone from here. They're dark haired yes but not in skin tone. They're very pale.
I think he looks more South American like an Argentinian
