Converting Between Moles and Liters of a Gas at STP

  • At STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure:0º C and 1 atm), 1 mole of gas takes up 22.4 L of volume. We'll learn how to convert back and forth between moles and liters of a gas at STP. Avogadro's Law is sometimes used as the name for the fact that 1 mole = 22.4 L at STP. We will look at how to do calculations and also look at some common mistakes. The Ideal Gas Law must be used when a gas is not at STP, and it's important to make sure that you're dealing with a gas, and not a liquid or a solid.

My grade in chemistry is a 76 ... my teacher introduced STP like this and I quote “ ok this is STP temp is 0 and pressure is 1 atm now solve the questions”. He didn’t even explain it and I have failed every test. He just kept adding a new law everyday without explaining it in detail and lord knows that’s exactly what I need in that class and I asked for help but every time I solved a question I would just get stuck on the next one. I mean I feel pretty dumb but you are really helping me Im so glad I stumbled onto your channel.

Your videos on moles have been incredibly helpful to me! I was recently absent from school for a week, and now still have a multitude of worksheets to complete, as well as a test. I've asked for help from my Chem teacher, but I did not understand the way he explained it. I never like asking him for help, because he always makes me feel very stupid and doesn't really care for me, as he is very intelligent and talks about how he was valedictorian when he was in highschool. You've saved a lot of people's Chem grades.
