My memory of old Darjeeling hotels include damp water patches on wall/ floor and a typical smell all over the place. Wonder if those were part of your experiences.
We did not experience that - but we went during the winter season. I think during monsoon and post monsoon that feeling will still be there …

Great view from this very basic hotel… enjoyed except the close up view of every single toilet bowl… is certainly not aesthetically pleasing! By the way, Sushmit’s pronunciation of the word Chalet is correct. The letter T is silent …
