I have a pacemaker/defibrillator and have had a septal ablation for HCM, and I hope to become a physician myself in part to reciprocate the care that I have received from my cardiologists growing up. As I will begin medical school later this year, my public health education has me leaning toward pursuing primary care, but I owe my appreciation for medicine and my ability to pursue medicine to cardiologists and cardiac electrophysiologists. It is a tough but very rewarding specialty.

I don’t think people truly understand what comes with the work of being a doctor!
They believe that there is not a lot of work done in regards to studying. Just focusing on the money... which is why half the people will look at this video. This is because the doctors have studied the hard stuff and come into our rooms telling us about our problems in a dumber format. That’s sooo many years of school, I could barely handle 4 and have 2 more to go.
I love that you were able to interview doctors that are not recognized in the media as much.
Also, please remember that a lot of paperwork is done behind the scenes.. I interned for a doctor and goodness gracious... it was a lot to handle

  • @aroundtheworldgirl4431

I love this video. I have recently wanted to become a cardiologist, but after finding this video I will be a Cardiologist-Cardiac Electrophysiologist.
After dropping out of community college for three consecutive semesters, I have decided to go back and it's go big or go home. A few reasons I have decided to take the doctor route is because I recently found a CZcamsr by the name of Violin MD, fantastic channel and would recommend you binge her videos, but I also want to get into this field because my family has a serious history with heart problems. My great-grandmother died in 2009 from heart complications, my great uncle had a heart attack and then a stroke within a short period of time, my uncle has cardiomyopathy, and my grandfather recently had a heart attack a year ago.
I feel this field is where I will shine the most. I only regret not coming to this realization sooner, but everything happens for a reason and I believe that hitting my lowest point will help me to stay determined and fight for what I want. I needed that break to get mentally well and I'm glad that I'm now in a better place to pursue my dreams.

One of the things that people may overlook because she seems so simple and down to earth. These people are amongst the most intelligent on earth. She makes it sound very doable. I remember talking to my cardiologist one day. He described a day where he was starting his electrophysiology residency. When the new residents introduced themselves... every single one of them was the valedictorian of their high school class! That is not uncommon for the subspecialties that earn around a million dollars a year. Its genius level work. Doesnt mean whoever is reading this is shut out... just be realistic about who you will be learning with.. and keeping up with.

Y’all are really mad that she’s making a lot of money? But you don’t dare say this about basketball players, kardashians, or any celebrities, or hedge founders or CEOs. Wtf are they doing for anyone?! And you come for this woman? I am in NP school now and this infuriated me. I was a pharmacy technician for almost 6 years and it’s insurance companies that are the real blame. Try calling an insurance company and asking them to explain why a patient has a donut hole, or why a 75 yr old on Eliquis can not afford his copay...they can’t even explain it in normal terms. Family practice does not make a lot of money because their field is saturated...the same goes for FNPs. The more specialized the more training the more income. Shame on all of you!
