You should try a Chestnaught with smack down to try to trap talonflames if they switch in because you shield once and farm all the way down

i finished building my rank 1 ul tentacruel a few months ago, but i gave up on it due to steelix and swampert last season. seeing one of them gone is making me want to use it again.
Always been a fan of tentacruel have had success with it for a long time glad to see it getting love
I hate it when RNG favors the opponent but I love it when it shines on me
I hate when I lose a game because I decided to give up switch for shield advantage mid game only to be completely hard countered and could of won if I played for switch
Tentacruel has come along way from me using it in the GL before the Poison Jab/Scald buff to hilariously hardwall azus

I only have 1 ultra league team, but it leads normal zard and has shadow regirock in the back. I got a 6/15/13 of the latter, so I win literally every possible interaction (yes even 0-2).
I have 2 Poliwraths built for ultra league. One has Counter, Icy Wind, and Scald. The other one has Counter, Return, and Icy Wind.
Return? I like it

I tried out the team and I’m running into constant steel types. This team just can’t beat an alolan sandslash or a registeel
I'm a legend player so I know what I'm doing and I went 5/15 with this team today, literally the worst day of my gbl career.
Damn, days like that are brutal. Had one myself today. I was trying some spice after leagues changed and had 3 1-4 sets before switching the team and salvaging with 2 decent ones

Tenta does exceptionally well vs viriz. Coba is much closer (close win or loss in evens) but debuffs can flip
Cobas definitely a bit difficult, we'll have to see how the meta shakes out :)

Dubwhool, Vig, Munchlax, ( FYI you need a hundo for those ) if you don't have the hundo/98 you can go for cheaper and use a Snorlax which puts in work.

I'd wait untill I got those xl candies. The difference between lvl 40 and lvl 50 tentacruel, is about 10 def and hp respectively.

Why Is Ultra League Tentacruel Have Blizzard Henry?

all the most fun Pokémon in UL need so much XL Candy. Been wanting to run Tentacruel in UL but just don’t have anywhere close to the XL for it.
These are issues that I solve during spotlight hours. Turn your tier 3 mega on, even if it's a Mon you don't care about, and work on XL grind. I got enough XL last tentacool spotlight hour from 1-2 months back. Can't let those times miss you. You can rack up north of 200 XLs with one spotlight hour and the appropriate mega.

Not really, what made Steelix so good was his very high defense state, with the obvious Breaking Swipe pre nerf. Tentacruel has nice balk and ok HP it's not as tanky as Steelix and there are a lot of mons that counter him.
