We’ve seen a lot of newcomers in the indoor cycling app market. Some were a complete disaster and didn’t even make it out of their initial beta. And I’ve seen some apps make some big progress and get out of beta after being in beta for several years.
Zwift without a doubt is the most popular indoor cycling app, but it's not for everyone. In this video, I will take you through my top 9 apps to use for your indoor cycling and get you though these indoor training sessions.
There are two type of apps out there. Apps with emphasis on structured training, analytics and provide you with tools to help you manage your indoor training and racing season. Other apps provide a virtual riding experience with simulated GPS routes, video routes, or virtual gamified type cycling experience. Some apps offer both.
I am going to break down the list into two categories: Apps with virtual riding experience, and apps with structured training.

To answer your question. I currently don't cycle indoors but I'm looking to get into it. I knew about the big three cycling apps, but thanks for mentioning the more unknown ones. Xert certainly seems very nice and I like that you can take the workout offline with the garmin app.

Swift may well be my final destination; however I am hoping to create my own routes, using both kickr core and climb devices. Having video of the course running simultaneously is not a must but could be useful. I'll wait and see how it all comes together as I get everything in place.

I just downloaded and have tried the Apple TV Rouvey app. WOW, it is great! Easy to setup and I have little issue with the interface. The Apple 4K remote is a bit tricky but this is true with all apps on the device.
I had been planning on subscribing to Zwift this winter, that is why I bought my Apple TV 4K. Now I may pay for Rouvey once they go “live” instead. Rouvey for Apple TV is free as of oct. 2019 because they are in beta.
I hope they can add more routes and finish the other loose ends. Looking good.
I really like the AR real life videos, These are not as flashy as Zwift but they keep the ride interesting enough for me.
BTW, I have messed around with Zwift on my Apple TV just a little and find it tricky to control with the Apple TV remote. I have not tried the iOS companion app though.

+Geoffrey Taylor VeloPro is made for cyclists not triathletes. I’ve used it
for a period and had to add the swimming and running myself. But the nice thing is you can adjust how much cycling you can do per week. So with some tweaking, and as long as you know how to train for the other two, you can use its plan.

Hi Alexandru, in Rouvy you have the ability to sync your smart trainer as a ‘traditional/classic’ trainer and ride along a power curve. Just connect your trainer to ROUVY via the other available protocol as a non-controllable general powermeter. If that solution does not work for you you may also adjust the ‘reality level’ in training mode to climb faster or ride in specific zones easier.

If you click around it there's a post from Maximum Trainer that they weren't able to secure funding and now it seems as if they've nuked the entire program. It's unfortunate because I enjoyed it and really sad that they've killed even the older versions by telling the program to force you to update when there's no update available.

Which is the best app/s to use with an apple tv which has good structured workouts for triathletes? Instead of Zwift

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  Před 4 lety +1

Currently the following apps can be used on Apple TV:
      - Zwift
      - RGT
      - Rouvy (beta) You can only do video rides
      - FulGaz: video rides and they recently added structured workouts but very limited. However, you can import your own workouts to the app. You can see how I did it here: czcams.com/video/9LIa-iQcwLk/video.html

For a few months I tried Kinomap but it is always challenging me to make the connection with either BT or ANT+. At this time they are updating the app but it takes a long time to make everything works well. I am done with Kinomap, sorry guys, your support is great but the app....... I tried Bkool for a few weeks, much better than Kinomap but I don't like the slope changes every 100 meter. Why is that? Right now I have a trial for Rouvy, it looks awesome, especially the augmented video's and all the connections are made fast without any problems. My decision is to go further with Rouvy, never the less because I don't like only 3D animations it is with Zwift.
