Honestly Utah has won me over as a new fan. Cannot wait for UTAH to hit the ice and see them play. I'm hoping Kells or Serg can be considered Captains of this franchise. Cheers from Edmonton 🇨🇦

Oh man.... Maybe he doesn't know. I would THINK that guy's would be banging down the door to be part of what's going on in Utah, phonecalls would be insane with guys fighting to get there. This is a completely new franchise so it's a complete clean slate. You want to build a reputation, you're ego could do backflips and circle laps around other hockey players because you say: I took this from zero to sixty and help make this what it is. Vegas had a very similar experience EXCEPT, Vegas wasn't a transplanted team, it was completely built from the ground up. I guess a lot of Yotes stuck around, because they wanted a job and wanted to play hockey, but, where this is the same as Vegas and even the Kraken for that matter, Washington, Utah, and Nevada never had hockey teams before, at least not in the NHL. Utah has an ECHL team I'll get to in a second but, I don't think it's set in for this guy what an honor he's just been given or any of these guys. Gordie Howe built his name in hockey because there was nobody before him. Sooooo, should be huge.
To my next point. Utah does have an ECHL team but they're absolutely HORRIBLE! Idaho to the north has a very good ECHL team that's won the Championship several times, I don't know, maybe Idaho is next. If Idaho Falls had their way that just got an ice arena for a very small hockey team, they would've done it a long time ago as they're really wanting to expand and draw to the city and they would've done it had they had the money but they could maybe beat Boise but, Idaho may not be far behind if Idaho Falls biggest businessman wants it. Anyway, the fact that the Utah Grizzlies are that bad, seriously, nobody goes to their games, it's dead, but this also puts a lot of pressure on the UHC because Seattle came out swinging and they're still battling but Vegas within a couple of years are Stanley Cup Champs, it didn't take long. Utah now has pressure to be the exact opposite of the Yotes and Smith knows what that means for his businesses so he may understand it takes time to develop a team, but this isn't a brand new team, this is a former club with a really sad reputation, so UTC can't afford to not meet Seattle and Vegas where they stand. The Yetti, as it seems they're going to be, have to bust out of the gate. Smith needs to up his marketing game like it's nobodies business. The sweaters need to be just right and awesome looking to get people wearing them, the Knights Ice arena even has its own name it's The Fortress. Delta arena, yeah, you gotta sell plane tickets, but you need something unique that separates your product and intimidation in sports is key.
There's a lot of pressure here, especially since the Coyotes stunk and the Utah Grizzlies (which may have been better for a team name like the Salt Lake Swarm) needs to be separated. The ECHL team sucks, but the Yeti won't. There's pressure there. But, I don't think this guy realizes he can cement his name this way

They are very close to getting in the playoffs but the NHL is a tough league.
