FINALLY, I remember back when I was 10 (I'm 15 now) when I first watched this. I had NO idea what was happening but I loved it anyways. Now it's a memory I can look back on fondly... ahhh good times...
Actually curtis those are headcrabs. If they jump on your head you will become a zombie somehow. They are from half life.

The things on the zombies' heads are called "Headcrabs." In the Halflife universe, they're basically a sort of parasite.

The zombies are from Half Life 1 and 2, but they only turn into zombies if the headcrab is attached to there head, and yes, those things on the head are Headcrabs. And this game is called Garrys Mod or other people call it Gmod. It's on Steam.

Funny that you say the relationship between Sonic and Shadow is similar to Goku and Vegeta, because it kinda IS like that (Not AS extreme though) ... Then again, they took quite a bit of inspiration from Dragonball, like the Super transformation, the seven Chaos Emeralds, stuff like that.
