As a Latin Music Musician and Lover of Music from the Carribbean I can tell you this is a Pretty Good Merengue the Drum Pattern is pretty accurate. Merengue is a Musical style from the Dominican Republic and very easy to dance and Fun as well. Plenty of Merengue music on CZcams if you want to hear what it really sounds like. This song is what made this movie for me when i seen it as a teen.
This is gonna sound corny coming from a Latino lol but watching this movie got me into the real Merengue from the Dominican Republic Im a musician and have played Merengue in a few bands. Ain't gonna lie this song was stuck in my head recently but as I hear it now it's only slightly a Merengue it's more a Calipso with a slight Merengue drum pattern.
