  • In today's video, I am faced with the task of repairing an Oppo phone that has suffered from water damage. This is delicate work, but with the right approach and tools, it's possible to bring this phone back to life.

We start by disassembling the device. One helpful tip I always give is to disconnect the battery connector as soon as possible. This prevents further damage to the motherboard from occurring. In this case, we were able to do it without breaking the warranty sticker, a sign that the device has not been tampered with by third parties.
Upon visual inspection of the motherboard, we saw two humidity labels that had changed color from white to pink. This indicates that the board has been in contact with moisture. We disconnect all the connectors and remove the motherboard.
Next, we inspect the motherboard. I did not find traces of moisture in this part, which suggests that the lower part of the mobile has not been in contact with liquids. We went back to the motherboard for a close inspection. Although I did find some small spots of moisture, there were no signs of corrosion.
However, some connectors showed corrosion. I decided to clean them with contact cleaner and a piece of cotton. This helps to remove corrosion and any moisture particles that may be present. Contact cleaner is an essential tool in my workshop because it contains isopropyl alcohol and a special oil that protects metal parts against corrosion.
I restored the pins with a precision file, which is an inexpensive tool that I would recommend you have in your arsenal if you are into device repair. I also cleaned and restored the connectors that had sulfate.
After cleaning and restoring all the connectors and pins, I decided to check the consumption of the motherboard. For this, I used a laboratory power supply, designed especially for mobile devices.
I was able to see that the motherboard boots up correctly, and furthermore, the device went into power saving mode, which allowed me to detect any abnormal consumption. In this case, consumption was minimal, which is a good sign.
After all this work, I connected the screen and turned on the device. The screen showed image, but with scratches, indicating that it will need to be replaced. Despite this setback, I am convinced that this Oppo has a second chance.
If you come across a water damaged mobile, I hope you find this video helpful. Remember that I am here to help you better understand mobile device problems and solutions. I'm Leonardo, and see you in the next video. All the best!
