Shaw needs to start, as Tripper looks like a duck out fo water on the left, - Im convinced that if Shaw had started against the dutch with us pressing forward and playing well--we would have been in front by half time, bringing him on in the second half when we had dropped off and sat back did balance the team,, but he would have been far more affective in the first half.
I think he's doing exactly what he needs to do. Coming on as an impact sub and making a difference. Id actually prefer that Southgate does this rather than start him. If he starts and doesn't make as much of an impact, there is no one on the bench that can come on and do what he does.

Then a few backwards and sideways passes. The guy was looking like a bit of a liability at first, up until the assist, which I'll admit was a great pass. So, he definitely turned it around, but he didn't look that great initially.

Bring Shaw left back, leave Rice out, play Palmer/Foden , Mainou Foden/Saka, Bellingham Kane Saka/Foden - Not sure on the exact positions ( Palmer, Foden are versatile ) I think Bellingham and Kane are more dangerous playing on the same line and closer to each other with the space to run on to rather than Kane out on his own. The only difference is that Kane doesn't make those runs, he would have come deep. What England have been missing is runs behind, stretching the defense. Kane wants other players to run off him.

England completely dominated the first half and could have scored more. The Dutch were better for 30 minutes in the 2nd half, but still didn't create that many clear cut chances, then England came back onto it with the disallowed goal and then the valid 2nd goal. They were worthy winners.

England completely dominated the first half and could have scored more. The Dutch were better for 30 minutes in the 2nd half, but still didn't create that many clear cut chances, then England came back onto it with the disallowed goal and then the valid 2nd goal. They were worthy winners.

So, he didn't even really need to judge the weight, as it would have got to Watkins feet, even if he had played it too hard. They both contributed to the goal, but Watkins had a lot more to do than Palmer.
