- In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
I love how he openly makes a mockery of the entire TED concept, AND THEY KEEP INVITING HIM BACK.
ey? The E in TED stands for entertainment.
But there's no I in TEAM
Andrew Eglinton but there is a ME
No there is a EAM
Andrew Eglinton I wish I was in LOVE.
i can just imagine someone accidentally walking in on this talk and being like what the fuck
One of Reggie's TED talks was my first TED talk and I had no idea what was going on.
I don't even laugh when watching Reggie anymore. I just admire him.
I am very proud of your mind
Atrijit Das Kind of the same act recycled over and over. Still, kudos for even attempting to make Germans laugh.
@@WilliamViets That's like saying all a band does is play the same kind of music
yeah, exactly. It's like I don't wanna laugh and then miss a second of this genius freedom creativity fountain.
@@greencasestudy So very true
Every time I partake of some Reggie Watts I feel my creativity has taken a rise and I feel like exploring again.

That's roughly 300% Reggie Watts for you. Not including the dampfnüdel.
first time i hear him talk sense. haha
Let's all stop for a second and recognize the danfnoodle engineers and their hardwork
Yeah, they reeeeally went out of there...
I have no idea what architecture means anymore.
It's the inversion of the 3,000 degree map between the three dimensional vertices drawn visible when intersecting stars in any one constellation at any one point in space and time. Obviously.

No one is better at taking the piss out of pretentiousness. Haha. Reggie is king.

It's like he's making fun of.. Everything.
+IHuntGiants Look at the comment three above yours and tell me yours wasn't better.
+IHuntGiants 'kay, sorry. 2 below now. ;L
U got it.
its not like. he is making fun of everything
The fact that he makes fun of everything is why I think he's funny
I love when he's doing a song and then he's like "okay this is getting weird" and then he just abruptly ends it and moves right on
me when I didn't take up enough time in my presentation
30% music, 40% comedy, 50% wisdom and 100% genius.
That's about 300% Reggie Watts for you!
Nothing adds up and its making me uncomfortable 😅
Reggie Watts is a genius. This type of creativity and freedom of expression has to be the most liberating feeling.
was lucky enough to have been there -- and it's too bad you can't year us roaring with laughter :(
thanks for saying that. I got a bit sad my German fellows might not know funny.
How was the dampfnüdle?
I always love rediscovering reggie. He reminds me so much of myself, but instead hes funny and talented.
i’ve been struggling lately with negative self talk and imposter syndrome. reggie’s videos always remind me being myself is all i need to be doing
The first 7 minutes was me during my class presentation.
I was aware of what I needed to speak on, but not the substance on which I needed to speak on.
So I went on.
This man is a genius.
Reggie gives us glimpses of ourselves by remixing human communication. It's like he can play jazz using things we say and do instead of musical notes. But he can also do it in a musical context, using musical traditions and tropes.
This is the best description of what Reggie does that I've ever read. Spot on.
That’s brilliant mate
Reggie Watts is a modern day, western Zen Master.
Exactly what I thought!
Nah man, that was another David not that one.
Well I'm officially quitting drugs. I couldn't see what harm they were doing to me until I watched this guys act sober.
I too have fallen down the Reggie Watts rabbit hole and I can pretty definitively say... this is the most sense he's ever made on stage. What a legend.
this guy is a trip!
Indeed, probably the trippiest person alive today.
ArcadianGenesis They did studies. Studies showed he is. Science.
MasterofPuberty Yeah, and the Church agreed too! The trippiest of God's recent creations.
I totally relate to him. Guess that makes me a trip :)
we all have this inside of us
only the bravest ones are able to express themselves in this way though
i want a 60 minute track of reggie watts fake ballading
Samn he's so smooth
Yas!!
I'm just glad he's here to prepare us for the realization of our multidimensional reality 😀
The chorus of the song that starts at 15:45 is so fucking good how is reggie watts even a person
hes not he is sex
He sexes them all my guy. If I could tell you one thing, then I would be very sad because I want to have a nice conversation with you.
He wins, simply for the fact that we are all debating the implied or intended message within his act. His niche is his genre variety and intelligent freestyles. I don't believe its a straight forward as the messages we think we find in his work. I'm sure some are correct, others; he's just taking us on a ride...and has no idea himself where it will end. And I know for sure he enjoys reading our comments, to see the different reactions and ideas we take from it all. I love this guy; he's extremely talented and has a way of just pulling you into a trance, then creating a vision for you, followed by brief moments of insanity and laughter. Its absolutely great! The accents, character portrayals and "1 man band" songs are incredible. Such a diverse range of art in every session. He's really good at "stream of consciousness" expression. Pulling from his own subconscious thoughts, yet making you feel like your own thoughts relate to them. He's got so much experience with letting himself go, and running with freestyle accidents...turning them into part of a complete, entertainment experience.
Really good way to capture what he's about I think. Nice one.
and this is what happens to your intelligence level when you enjoy Mr Watts!
Is that your real name please say yes
this is what happens when you become too intelligent :/
Try to keep up guy, or just get high.

When you start a new game but put all your points into intelligence.
TED lets Reggie make fun of them again.
how is he making fun of TED in this performance?
Enhanced Pyrotechnics The way he speaks is in the same kind of meter and tone that most of the normal speakers talk in, but he's just babbling inane nonsense. Watch a TED talk and it's scary how similar Reggie sounds to them. Like, if you didn't speak English, you'd think he was talking about something really profound until he started playing with the loop box.
TED gets it, you dont. He is a comedian, what do you expect? A TED TALK?? He is a troll, he trolls everyone and thats the comedy.
kk89ize No, it's not "trolling". He's mocking ted speakers with overly obtuse nonsense and wordplay, articulated by various different pretentious or savant-like characters. He even occasionally makes references to very TED things, like the Brookings Institute etc
He does it in most of his routines - not just for ted. I've seen him do it for much longer aswell, accents are his thing
I love all the people confused by this. His delivery, timing, and content is pure gold...
I've been suffering from depression off and on for my whole life and I have discovered that Reggie is like instant relief from the blues
- this is so deeply intellectual; he basically describes presence/consciousness, universal relevance, and expresses the dynamic that raw human and unfiltered emotion can communicate just as much information as the most articulately succinct message.
+Thackery Saussy aka he is just having fun
+Alex Lewis - meh. doubt it.
u´re right. He´s layering subliminal messages about this same topic in almost all his performances. Its more esoteric than intellectual.
simply masterful in his execution of the parabola of the life as a human device
Ay tru bro, I was all like, dam boi dis make sense
If you want to add a whole new level of hilarity, turn on closed captions. Watching closed captions trying to interpret this makes something that's already hilarious over the top. I could hardly breathe, I was laughing so hard.
May I present: Reggie Watts, the personification of the modern language term "what the fuck"
Watts is my spirit animal.
don't worry people. the audience loved it. listen carefully and you can hear them laughing pretty hard in a lot of places. they're just really low in the mix
I feel like this is what can happen if you unlock all levels. I love everything he does.
This has been the most enlightening Ted Talk I have ever seen. The man. The one on stage. He talks about concepts that imprison us. These constructs they keep us from being free. The structure we are apart of is limiting us. Really the conceptual freedom which is being shown is truly freeing. If expansion of the mind is a thing, that exists, then we can experience it. So really the perception of it all, is there.
hahavavavavavavavavava
Very correct 👍
"...That was a piece by...uh Keats" XDDD LOL
Maybe they wouldn't understand if he said Blake lol
He so much reminds me of 'Helge Schneider' - a german comedian who happens to be a very skilled Jazz player (or the other way around?). Both of them use the concept of 'flow' in their improvised comedy of nonsense....

MasterofPuberty then don't do it. lol until you're not afraid of what will happen. :P
I already did. The universe made sense for 12 seconds.
LMFAO. dmt? or no? lol
Still brilliant 6 years later....
His hair moves like with his music. Love him sososo much.
I have my headphones turned up all the way and I can hear the audience dying with laughter.
+TRP-Unite I thought you were trolling at first, but then I listened very carefully and you are actually right.
Yeah, I don't understand why they would silence the audience's laughter... It makes his performance uncomfortable to watch as I feel like he's having a bad show or something haha
They forgot to put a microphone close to the audience
Rian Middleton...yeah really ? all the comments explaining the absence of a Mic recording the audience have surpassed you ? and are you aware that more than 70 percent of a TedX Audience in Berlin is made up of Expats ? why am i even explaining this. Maybe to educate you a bit...but then again you were just joking i guess ... because stereotype Jokes are just a blast
Channel 2 right?
He is the definition a chaotic good.
His specialty is being himself and making you question your existence at the same time.
favorite comedian of all time.
Comedian? He is a Architect, didn't you hear? smh
@@keixsy But that's mearly a byproduct of biology to be them they.
I think the audience actual thought there was a Dampfnüdle machine lol

i'm hilarious and i find this german
+samiharp yes. you're ready. follow me.

Thank you samiharp.
I Looooove Reggie Watts !!!
He's so funny and I love when people don't understand him and he just goes on...
I'm German and I think Reggie is fucking hilarious!
The difference between me and the audience though is that I lived a year in the US and still spend a lot of my time hearing and speaking english on a daily basis.
If you don't have a good feeling and understanding of another language it's hard to get the jokes... especially Reggie's jokes.
So give them a break guys. Just try to imagine learning German and trying to listen to a German comedian (Yes there is such a thing) ;)
In Germany, line punch you.
+Mexxer Also german people are not so extrovert
You are right. But in this case its just that you couldnt hear them because there wasnt mics in the audience. Thats still something that we germans dont understand, that every other country does right: The germans try to get the audience sound out of the video so that the People watching the video get the Performance without Interruption from the crowd. Which is bullshit cause that makes it uncomfortable to watch. They should put mics in the audience like every other country. Anyways thats it. They found him hilarious.
exactly!
Manki, i have the feeling that there are no mics in the crowd anywhere. most times the laughter sounds artificial, like a underpayd musician pushes some keys on a casio keyboard in the background with the same samples like in the cosby show.
The automatic subtitles for the "german" rap .. I think they answer any questions you may have after watching this highly elucidating talk.
"if boo didn't mean to him then doom didn't either." There's even symbolism in the beatboxing - deep on every level.
It's funny seeing some people trying to make sense of the words. It's not about the words at all (he is talking gibberish), it's about everything else you use to communicate: pitch ( or musical notes if you want to think about it that way), rythm, gestures, dynamics, etc...
I think the whole point is to play with the idea that words are only a small part of communication and contrasting how an incredibly articulate and expressive guy talking nonsense can still sound deep and be enjoyable to listen to.
Plus, the guy is a musical genius, even though you can't tell by this perfomance.
sixStringsforWords I think it comes full circle here. The way that his act can be interpreted in so many ways it is itself a message about interpretation and perspective. He touches on a lot of topics (eg, "nothingness", language barriers, time, human behaviour) in his act, and i suppose the way you interpret his message (essentially gibberish) is a reflection of your perspective on those topics.
It's not that his sentences don't make sense at times, if you isolate them, but I was referring to how the speech as a whole is completely disjointed and really doesn't have a "point". It's a bunch of random toughts put together (of which some make sense).
But I agree with you that the deeper meaning of the presentation can be interpreted in many ways and that fact by itself makes it interesting.
So much talent in one person!
observing the spectrum of these intricate mechanisms that is nature itself, has led me to conclusion about indeed...and most definitely that Reggie watts is.
Thanks for the journey Reggie. Weirdness is king. Was with you every step of the way. Your performance is super inspiring - gotta trust in the process, in the moment, in the biology, in the nothingness!
Amazing how even if he wasn't this genious with 5504393 different different space time fabrics in his brain, he still could be a successful singer.
Reggie ! You are genious. You sing for fun, for pleasure ... you play with your voice like very vey few on the world (B.McFerrin?) but you show a lot of fun, joy !
I suspect you may be Enlightened :)
Reggie Watts is great. His content sounds like my thoughts when I haven't slept in days. I love it.
You either get Reggie Watts or you don't. LOVE IT !
His revealing tune on Red Rectangles was a fascinating insight into how this world with 4 metaphorical corners encapsulates many years of archetypical emotional Anger (Red) resulting in human life entropying or degrading back to vegetable then mineral metaphorically described by the pants coming down, where life should be projecting back to the divine construct it was intended. i.e. ideally Solve et coagula, not coagula et Solve.
Reggie Watts is just too awesome.
I love how he makes fun of TEDx... in a TEDx conference haha, too good!
I could listen to him all year and not be bored a single minute.
I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.

Reggie Watts is my hero!!!
Pick five notes and go between them and make it sound like you can feel the blues 👏👏👏
Genius!!! Did he just low-key tried to explain the evolution of language and speaking by going back from German and disguising it as just something random..or am I just to DEEP? Really inspirational guy.
RIP crowd
+BoboDoboRobo There's nothing wrong with the crowd, we just can't hear them because it is not a "typical" audio set up where you can hear every audience reaction. If you turn it up really loud though you can hear a bit of their reaction coming through Reggie's microphone.
+BoboDoboRobo it's not a comedy club ^_^
+BoboDoboRobo I was there. The crowd was well into it.
+John Thompson I am so happy you said that. I was just wondering the whole time.^^
hmm, I thought BoboDoboRobo meant that the crowd died from laughing.
reggie watts inspires me.
Wow, tough crowd.
They don't mic the audience
***** It's either the crowd is actually trying to understand him, or they're not at that stage of humor wherein this is funny.
fulishproductions AND they're still pretty damn audible.
So Im_More_Of_A_Lurker_ 's comment is super wrong. Not a tough crowd at all.
no the mic is just not so loud in the audience
***** Exactly.
16:45 is when a masterpiece begins.
giving it my best is only a feeble attempt to wrap my head around not only the process of his presentation, but to put it all together to where it makes sense is stacking all the blocks in all the wrong places in a Tetris game, yet he somehow reaches into my brain and helps me place the blocks of logic, reason, and an overall sence of exactly what the he'll he's talking about, calling him a genius at this point in he's twisted plot would be an insult, he takes a jigsaw puzzle and empties it out onto the floor and is convincing enough to manipulate our minds to say it's solved!!
It's SO weird... but I can't stop watching it...
Saw this guy perform, last night, for the first time watching a Radio Lab stage show.
I'm still amazed by the sound.
I'm pretty sure Reggie is the most unique human being to ever exist.
But are you sure?

So funny XD I like the fun he does while making all the music simultaneously. Just great!
Do you put your trousers on then your pants? :-D Look like the super-hero, yeah! Excellent intro with the mic bit. :) Reminds me of the comedian Steven Wright. I like what Reggie says about escaping biology: it would feel completely free to be rid of biology and just be an energy string. I like these performances a lot: the sarcasm in the utter humor of it all and the cute obsession with damphneudel. Flight of the Encores. Eam spirit. I like what he did with his voice when he turned ordinary language into inverted sounds (the noises in between the noises when talking happens--then inversing the sounds and twisting them all over the place). Also liked how he makes up his own songs that sound like other songs with words like sound like other words... ducks are like chickens... pidgeons... pterodactyl spread your wings... you ain't no bird no moooore... Baby got a-sticky fingers... His songs are improvisational, yes?
his singing voice is ahhhhhhhhhh mazing! his performance art keeps me captivated and coming back!
nahnahnah so there ..hahaha
Dampfnoodle that was rad! Reggie you did it again without even trying seemingly.....u r a genuinely talented talent who inspires inspired people to do crazy/wonderlistic things or not......bitte shun!!
