I arrived by ambulance at Caboolture on two separate occasions and to be really honest, I could not fault the care I received. The staff were very friendly and approachable, even on my second visit when I arrived in a very serious condition requiring around the clock care and attention. I must have apologised to the nurses and others a hundred times, whenever they had to clean me up, and each time they simply smiled and told me not to worry about that . . "it's our job to take good care of you". And the food? Brilliant! It almost made me reluctant to go back home again. So, say what you will; I'll never go along with people shit-canning my home town!

    • @arthurblackhistoric
      @arthurblackhistoric Před 2 měsíci +6

@@joeblo1 . . You're right. But that good treatment extends to just about everywhere I go in my day to day life in Caboolture. By your own standard, if everyone is doing their jobs well, that translates to a town that has an overall good vibe and a positive attitude towards their fellow citizens. I'm not denying there's a bad element in town, but from what I see and hear, the police are doing their level best to contain all that.
I came up in Keperra in Brisbane's western suburbs where the street gangs had the attitude that they owned the streets. If you saw them coming, you'd best turn around and go some other way, and this was the case even in broad daylight! This situation persisted all the way into Gaythorne, where Jimmy's Burger Bar was the scene of weekly bloodbaths when the gang from Keperra came down to fight the gang from Gaythorne, with the gang from Mitchelton waiting to see who won, then they'd come out to fight whoever was left standing. Go over the river to the south side of Brisbane and it was no different. The Chardons Corner Hotel was the center of violence back in the day in that locality; the Stones Corner Hotel was likewise the focal point in that part of town, then we had the Holland Park Hotel and others. When I was a busy pro musician, the booking agencies used to book me exclusively at the slaughterhouse pubs because none of their other less brutal looking acts would play there for fear of the violence. I never had much of a problem at any of them to be honest. But just the same I credit my Christian faith for the lack of fear I evidently displayed. I used to have to pick out the pieces of broken beer glasses that would be stuck in my PA speaker boxes! In Caboolture the roughest pub was the Twisted Arm Hotel, AKA the Club Tavern. My band used to play there in 2009 and 2010 and management had an excellent system to stop drunken violence. That, combined with a couple of walk-throughs by police, ensured the safety of everyone in the venue.

@@mditt7oh I bet! When I lived in the northern suburbs I used to drive an ex yellow cab taxi - all the taxi markings were gone, it was just that classic orange and black colour. Had to keep my doors locked 100% of the time, and it could still get pretty scary driving through the valley on Friday and Saturday nights on my way home from my friend's! Whenever I had to stop there'd be drunk men beating on the windows and screaming at me for not letting them in, even with me telling them I wasn't a taxi!
Picking up or dropping my friend off at a train station wasn't any better either! I had a guy get into the back seat when I unlocked the door for my friend. He refused to get out and said he wanted a lift to the pub, I ended up taking him because who knows what he'd do to us (both early 20s girls) if we made him mad! Luckily he was chill and got out at the pub, but it still freaks me out how easily he could've done something.
I still loved that car though! We called her Kansas because the first time I turned it on "Carry on my Wayward Son" was playing on the radio. I had no money to keep up on repairs, so I was buying a bottle of power steering fluid every week to stop her screaming on my way to work at 5am. I passed the 500,000km mark, then the 600,000km before the engine cooked itself and I sent her to the wreckers I the sky with a tear in my eye. She also had both petrol and gas tanks, back when gas was crazy cheap - so my friend and I had so many adventures all around Brisbane.
Best time in my life! Miss the hell out of those days, even if I was the most povvo non-taxi taxi-driving bint (the most common thing I was called in the valley 😆)!

I've lived in Caboolture South for over thirty years. Much of what you say is true to some extent, but probably not quite as bad.
I'm retired now and don't roam around to every part that often, but when I do, I don't get the sense of living in a dump. I don't see litter or graffiti everywhere, although the presence of shopping trolleys is more 'noticable' these days.
I used to drive buses between Caboolture railway station and Bribie Island, and there's definitely a feral element, but talking to drivers from other places that's not unique to the area.
The shortage of decent restaurants that don't resemble a mess hall is a bit of a bummer. No good pubs, either.
Other than that, everything is very accessible and close at hand.

My family bought 2 houses there back in like 2000 and lived there since, my grandparents died a few years ago and I left and my parents had moved a few years before that. But we liked the place, very rarely had any problems with all the druggies we kept hearing about, never really saw anyone homeless or that far down. Occasionally someone at the train station but for the most part it was people just commuting to and from their work just like any other train station. I used to park my car at the station, I tried bicycle for a while and that never got knocked off or anything. All the local businesses were good and clean. So I dont know what to believe, I heard all this stuff about drugs and crime when I lived there and yet saw none of it.

Cabo kindof actually was Inala. I lived at Forest Lake about 25 years ago and Inalaians would sneak in and knock off all the FL homes because it was a new wealthier place. That was when there was a massive sell up of a lot of public housing homes in Inala and they ultimately moved Inala public housing to Caboolture.
At Inala the gov was selling freestanding homes for $7-8k a lot of builders bought them up and renovated them.
Now with a series of unfortunate events I find myself on King St for the last 6 months in a complex. A lot of people here have come from being homeless, even jail.
It’s been a culture shock for sure. This video was accurate. Most of the people in my complex are on something. Lots of drug deals have gone on. Gotta bolt stuff down or it’s gone. Regular visits by police.
We always have abandoned trolleys here, people just claim them, and that old Holden full of someone’s life’s possessions is always parked in that spot on Kings. Nice to see the familiar stuff I guess.
Caboolture definitely has a lot of people here that have experienced some hardship in life, myself included. Otherwise we’d have a choice in living somewhere else. Gotta make the best of things tho,
and to be fair there’s always nice people to befriend and ya need a few decent people to trust here and look out for each other.
I stick to myself, double bolt the door and now class myself as being agoraphobic.

As someone who resides here, its not as awful as the video makes it out to be (satire video i know) as someone who has lived in its surrounds (narangba, bellmere) i think the only reason its getting "worse" is because all the non addicts and non housing commission people have moved to surrounding places ( woodford, etc) before housing prices went up. Aside from the waytown areas, which also aren't laden with homeless and addicts like the video makes out, the place is excellently laid out.
You've got your fair share of homeless and addicted here, but i see more in logan, ipswich and even the valley when i play shows there, so id love to see a video on those if you've dumped on caboolure this bad.
Sure if you've lived in luxury and haven' had a hard life caboolture may seem like the worst place, but man has it improved since the early 2010's when you were asked for money everytime you went anywhere near public transport.

I'm lucky the pediatrician heard I was admitted to the emergency room and rushed down stairs and according to my mum she started screaming at all the staff, I ended up needing several blood transfusions. Apparently the emergency room got shut down for a few days while they fired a lot of people and rehired.

@@Imbrokeaswell Because even the ones that are full of termites and that flood and that have squatters shooting up in the carport are now at least $500,000. In fact, there is currently only one house for sale at half a million (a 3 bedroom weatherboard shack), and it's the cheapest house in Caboolture.
This wasn't the case 4 or 5 years ago - there were dozens of ok places around the 250k - 350k mark. But then everyone had to play pretend pandemic and double all the house prices. Hope the lockdowns were worth it now nobody can afford a house and rents are through the roof.
At least we're importing hundreds of thousands of Chinese and Indian immigrants every year to buy up all the houses that are left.
It's fun living in a world full of retards. This is why we can't have nice things.

100% accurate. When I was in my early 20's I bought a house in Caboolture, I rented it out for 1 year before moving in. That 1 year was a nightmare. A newly built 4 bed house - TRASHED - 2 of 4 bedrooms were used to cultivate cannabis, 1 bedroom used to make crystal meth, and fourth room was littered with used syringes. Real estate property managers refused to go there, in the end after a court order, 3 cop cars and 8 police officers to forcibly remove one drug f**Ked tenant. Insurance covered most of the damage, had to pay $10,000 out of pocket, and did not get any rent for 11 months.
Anyone wanting to buy a house in Caboolture YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Can confirm caboolture has a big problem with rubbish washing into the waterways. I used to kayak in waraba Creek which flows into the caboolture river. Every couple of weeks id fill the whole kayak up with rubbish. There's also a big problem with invasive aquatic plants in the creek such as salvinia and cambomba.

That fucking house on lower king St. That one that's old and run down. What is with that place? It's been almost 2 decades that I've seen it there. Why it's not been burnt down I struggle to understand.
