Use underground gutter drains or foundation french drains to keep water away from the foundation. You can also run your a/c drip lines into this drain to avoid the water pooling up right against the foundation.

The AC lines get an algae like build up inside and eventually plug. You call a HVAC guy out to fix it. He will cut those lines off back above ground so they are serviceable, then clean them out. He will then tell you to leave them alone.
Facts, I just did this today
Agreed! And it's so little water
The ac unit will have its main drip line from the unit running to a waste line at the nearest sink or vent pipe. The drip lines you see on the outside are from the drip pan under the ac unit. If you see lots of water coming from these you’ve got a problem.
@@privateobvious655 that's what I have - a vinyl tube on the condensate pump that empties into the slop sink.
Facts. Customers don't understand maintenance anyway
Def don't wanna do that. Mine clogged up after a couple years.
Please don’t do that coming from a hvac tech works well until it backs up and if called we will cut them above ground to service them and reconnect if homeowner really wants to
Tip for new builders. Build drain in to the furnace room.
Also beds next to the house will cauce future problems. Concrete should have been installed insulated and draining away from the house. Also the bigger the overhang the better. Big overhangs can keep your siding from almost never getting wet.
Gutters should have a box between junctions so that sediment can be cleaned out rather than being dumpped down your lines. If you do not have woods then a leach field can be installed.
NEVER run underground gutters parallel to your foundation. Actually if you have trees near your property don't do it at all as they will clog.
That's because they used corrugated pipe
Need to suck out ac lines occasionally. Also when it rains hard you will be pushing water back up the AC lines.
The entire line to the forest would need to be full in order for water to flow back into the air handler.
As long as the plant isn't getting over watered I don't see a problem. Plant needs water anyway, why waste it?
If you're gonna have "underground gutters" you might as well make it a french drain.
Air gap it if you want todo something like this; or upgrade your condensate lines to like, i dunno, 1.5 or 2"
#1 mistake is using corrugated pipe. Should be using 4inch pvc
I would not do this. The line will get clogged and your AC system will back up and flood your attic or basement. Just have it drop into your flower bed. If the AC is on it will be hot enough outside to evaporate the drip from AC.
I do not recommend that, gutter lines tend to get clogged You need to see your emergency drip line. Best to run your primary line to a vent stack or sewage line, make sure it has a p-trap!
Best to check local codes, everywhere is different. I'm in South Texas.
just a quick question... what happens if the gutter line past the HVAC blocks up with debris during a sh*t storm?
Don’t forget the sump pump as well
You put gravel around the house ? Does that keep water way from house ?
check your main drip line for mold, exterior is the backup and may indicate main is clogged with mold. Can unclog with compressed air.
Recommend that you install those leaders to the underground gutter lines properly.
Thank you for the heads up
If you install a 4" grate at the condensation lines or a soaker hose to water the plants and act like a leaching field.
Perhaps putting a ground- flush catch basin that is tied into the drain line that these AC lines, can drip into, giving the air gap preventing reflux and repair accessibility
AC personel need to be able to see those drip lines dripping.
It is part of the inspection.
It signifies certain issues.
I have a Schrader valve on my AC condensate lines. Put a ball valve right next to the blower on the line, shut it off, hit it with 90 PSI, watch the condensate and slime fly. I do it a few times a year to keep them from clogging up. Not sure I'd want them draining underground.
Is it just condensate from your AC or is it condensate from your gas furnace. Discharging carbonic acid, which is a byproduct of 90% gas furnace is supposed to go to a sanitary drain.
are they the same used on the roof?
Hvac installer and tech here for about 20 years
Do not do this for a number of reasons
When I come out to unclog them I’ll just cut them outside and make sure there above the ground like there supposed to be
Bad idea incase the trunk line ever backs up, you need to air gap this
Be safe of underground piping like this , where I live it freezes and soil water levels can change a lot year to year . They can break and flood your basement. Just put downspouts on . Easier to see when they break when they are above ground !
Goes from that pipe along in the house and directly into my basement🤣🤣🤣
Some municipalities don't allow anything but rain water, check your codes!
I was told that you never want to channel trapped, piped water into a gutter or drain system. Good luck 😅
Tie your sump pump line into this line as well
Do not do that you need access to those lines because it'll freeze up the system when you just bought a house be the guy that bought a house don't talk about building it.
😂don’t do this let that water go on your plants will cause you money the gutter drain great though idk if u have a clean out on thare either
Those corrugated pipes get clogged all the time. Better off with pvc pipe
They also sag and hold standing water + sediment in the ripples
Could get acidic which could kill off plants around there but unlikely
Why not water your plants?
Make sure you leave enough room to suck the drip lines out with a shop vac.
Don't glue the pipe so it may be serviced (and don't use inferior corrugated like this, especially around a foundation, use green pvc sdr 35 sewer pipe)
Into the woods? How about collecting it to run your sprinklers.
must punt water away
Lol underground gutters
Definitely DO NOT DO THIS ! Many reasons I this main would be the sludge build up. 😂 definitely learned that you can’t believe everything by watching this. Before making recommendations like this I believe one should truly understand. I believe there’s a very valuable lesson here. To the guy in the vid hope you’ve undone this by now and hope you haven’t had to redo your gutter drains. Also for those use real pvc pipe not that crap ! Corrugated=Garbage
I'd look to connect the gutters to water butts/ tanks. There are flat ones that can be mounted against the wall of the house - great for times of water shortage. There are under ground tanks too. Both i would have for my own use too.
Almost nobody uses that because the water inside gets nasty and stinks. Salmonella fest.
@@FrozenHaxorlaw requires you to do it in my state. People use the water on the garden and have their toilets plumbed into it.
@@VW_Fanwhat state is that?
@@ryanglaser5336 South Australia
what we need
Why not just leave it to water plants it's so little water like
that way you can use your tap water on your plants and dump the free stuff into nature
Great tip!
Code requires the overflow lines be unobstructed and visible. This is so that you can see if they are working or not. I have seen more than one collapsed ceiling because the drain were plugged and water overflowed the pan.
Your plan is stupid.
Lets be honest. This guy just constantly records the most nuanced and redundant house advice ever. Hi heres a thing gib me youtoob monies plz.
Look at his channel views he will post anything for youtube cash
Yeah don’t do this
Why are you wasting water...you should have a water barrel in the woods to collect the water....why
Relax it's not being wasted if going into the woods in order to recharge the water table. Gutters are for getting rid of water, people aren't worried or typically concerned with hoarding rainwater (often polluted anyways), when they are likely mitigating or fixing property damage. Saving it is the last thing they want to do!🎉
You will wish you forgot to do this.
Why not make a catchment system for wild animals and gardens? Humans are sooooo stu.
DO NOT do this
