I drove through Fort Worth last year and was struck by how vibrant and sophisticated the downtown area felt. I caught it on a Friday night around 6-7pm and the streets were filled with people coming downtown for dinner, drinks, and cultural performances. It was a far cry from being at Wal-Mart. The people in downtown Fort Worth looked, (candidly), incredibly attractive for a public setting and the area felt totally safe. I was amazed. It reminded me of what downtown areas in the U.S. could be if cities and states could afford to invest in public safety and aesthetics.
Also, for many people Fort Worth will feel more familiar than Dallas in terms of terrain, density, and scale. Compared to Dallas, Forth Worth feels a lot more like other places such as Little Rock, Knoxville, or Winston-Salem, in a good way. Fort Worth compared to Dallas is somewhat hilly and feels far less crowded. You don't see giant buildings all over the place outside of downtown.
My reaction in driving into Fort Worth, coming from Dallas, was that I felt suddenly that I could finally exhale. It's the combination of Fort Worth's more natural-looking hilly terrain and greenery, smaller scale, and less crowding combined with an absolutely lovely downtown area. Also the TCU area has a charming, polished feel which adds to the feeling of sophistication of the city.
All that said, in Dallas I adore the beauty of the McKinney Avenue area, Highland Park, Turtle Creek, White Rock Lake, and the newly developing Bishop Arts District. Plus the Klyde Warren Park and gorgeous, modern high-rise buildings in adjacent Uptown Dallas makes you feel like you are definitely not in Kansas anymore. All very impressive.
I also love a well-planned suburban area. Everyone brags about Frisco and while I'm not in love with Frisco's planning model, with giant, divided roads and dense, treeless neighborhoods filled with McMansions all built on top of one another, I'm a sucker for cleanliness and organization and fascinated by how each city finds creative ways to make themselves safe and attractive.
In short, in choosing between Fort Worth and Dallas, I would pick Dallas for excitement and energy and Fort Worth for charm, coziness, and just a more non-hectic, civilized-feeling quality of life.

My sister and I moved to Ft. Worth in Dec. of 2018. We literally just picked a random city we knew nothing about and knew no one here. Moved here from TN, born and raised in MS. It's ok here, coming from the suburbs of Memphis, TN, I definitely feel safer here. I can walk downtown and really enjoy myself. My salary has increased here but with all the good, there is still a lot lacking for me. The job market now is terrible. Im in a job I despise and can't seem to break free lol. Drivers are HORRIBLE. I often wonder how people here got a license. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Restaurant selection definitely needs work. I don't find people to be very friendly here. I am looking for my next state to move. I am single with no kids so I have that flexibility. I have always thought of the DMV area. I just ran across your videos. Thank you for taking the time!

Moved from the Dmv to Fort Worth, its really expensive there , we had to leave. Plus nothing to do on the Virginia side unless you are close to DC .
