Just ordered the Tactix Delta Solar today and I am excited! Have consumed a ton of reviews and unboxings. Should I choose solar or non solar? This or the Fenix 6x series? Sapphire glas or not? Drove me nuts... But the ability to own now a new smart/sport watch on top notch level which will stay with me for the next couple of years...heck I pulled the trigger on the solar version paired with the sappphire glas was a no brainer for me. I just switched over to Garmin watches from Samsung. What a revelation! Makes my Galaxy Watch 2.5-day battery life seem like a bad joke now, and my Fenix is actually made for activity tracking!
Right now I have a Garmin Instinct and am quite happy with it. But when the Garmin 6X Pro came, I decided to buy this one. But now I don't know, the Garmin Tactix Delta is definitely better looking than the 6X Pro.
Bought today, and my favorite thus far. Glad I paid the extra $40 over the Fenix 6x. I’m a former owner of the Fenix 3, Fenix 5, Fenix 5X, Forerunner 245 music, 645 music and 945. Great video, thanks!
Absolutely beautiful watch. Been on the Garmin lineup for yrs & currently wearing Tactix Bravo but looking at this, I may have to put a few bucks away for the next month (or find my wife's hidden stash)...
Great watch and their look makes me want to trade too since my 6x siphire looks really classic and I love that brutality of the Tactics. But I won't definately do that cause I'll lose a lot of money. Anyways, thanks for the great review.
I actually bought this after watching this video and after watching your Fenix 6x comparison video. Watch looks better on wrist than the Fenix, and the sapphire is more clear. Doesn’t hurt that I got the delta for 500 bucks brand new. Overall great watch

Thanks for the review, it is short, detailed enough but comprehensive! It is a pity that Garmin Tactix makes only 1,4 inches screen and not the smaller sizes. I have a smaller wrist so I am afraid that it would look too bulky on my wrist. I am happy Garmin fenix 5plus user!

@@LastGateFitness Well, some history first. I started with the fenix 3 and than moved to the 5X, 5X Plus Sapphire and than the 6X Pro Sapphire, since the Solar version wasn't available. When the 6X Solar finally became available, I purchased it and didn't think I would ever give my Sapphire version, since all of my 5's had Sapphire (but I did want the Solar and had been waiting for it to become available). HOWEVER, all of that being said, the Solar version is truly unique and fantastic! After using for 1-2 days, I promptly returned my 6X Pro Sapphire and have been thoroughly enjoying the 6X Solar. The display is super crisp and so easy to see, the back-light hardly every gets used. HIGHLY Recommend! NOTE: The Solar works extremely well and I'm very happy with how it is functioning! Garmin knocked this one out of the park!

The thing to remember with the Solar variant is this, it will never replace the charging cable, but with the Solar in charge mode, the hit to the battery is significantly reduced. I'm looking forward to this watch really strutting its stuff when the sunny days and nice weather return :) .........

Would suggest you to head over to Digital Mall to have a look there as that Garmin shop is the main sales shop and one of the biggest there around

I don't understand why buy this vs Fenix 6 pro with DLC unless you like very large watches. I had it, its massive. Not made for running, IMO. A lot better looking? I didn't notice. To each their own!
I guess it should have a digital time as well in the default watchface...would have made it more cool...if temperature would have been at the top and digital at the top....left alt as it is ...and right calendar as it is... that would have been amazing..then...
Awesome video! I called and spoke with the tech guy at garmin to make sure some of the features, respiration tracking to be exact, would still be available on the Delta since it's on the fenix 6x. He said they both have an identical platform, so that won't be an issue. With the discount the delta came out with tax to $777, non tax price was $719
Now a month been in use. I'm really happy, old Fenix 3 HR was indeed the old style compared to this. The battery life nearly doubled, the screen is now large enough and crisp, the structure is really sturdy and solid. "The poor can't afford to buy cheap". So why buy a cheaper model with a potentially scratchy gorilla glass screen? I think it doesn't matter anymore whether the watch costs $ 700 or $ 900 if you buy it yourself for years to come. If you just want just a sport watch with HR and you can live example without the music features, buy the refurbished Fenix 3 HR for $ 200. You will get the cutted features, but not the best Garmin model. What i want to tell you: I think the price range of between these two is a waste of money.

Just bought Fenix 5x Plus, didn't know Garmin even HAD a Tactical line-up, LOL..........love the fenix though, got mp3 player, GPS and tons of sensors i actually use.

Can you load NEXRAD weather to the Delta without having to buy the aviation watch? How cold of temperatures can the Delta handle? I live in Alaska and work off grid, I’m looking for a watch that has both weather and gps mapping for the bush. Does the military spec increase shock resistance compared to their other watches? watch is really super cool but bezel is so frigile You need to watch out at every move. Protective bezel is a must have - but there is no any for tactix as far as I know

Please could you check the back button press and tell me, if your Tactix also has a soft touch and with a firmer press comes a switch function, if you know what I mean? At first you are starting pressing and nothing happens, you press firmer, than comes click and launch of back function. Other buttons haven't this "feature". I dont know, if its ok, or some defect... Hi, If you install the Garmin Trainer watch face from the IQ store on the Tactix Delta, does it exhibit the same lag when first pressing the Activity List button or switching to the first widget, similar to the lag it causes on the Fenix 6X? Thanks
That's a tough call! If it's just for the design of the tactix, sure!!! Lol. Seriously tho, you're getting a lot more over the 5 (non plus) like à more colorful screen, Garmin pay and music (don't remember if the 5 had music support but think that came with the plus model). Not to mention some new sensors and whatnot.
What is the battery life on the GT Delta?? Sometimes when going into the woods there's no place to charge anything. Also is there a solar app in this watch where one could charge the battery? If not could you recommend a watch with a solar charging feature? I'm rough on watches so any info would be great. A very informative video. Thanks!

@@KaspaVolition I love mine too. I originally wanted to get the solar but I wasnt too sure about the practicality of it, I've never had an issue with the battery life...and the big thing was the omission of the sapphire glass.

Loaded features, but deal breaker for me, is no touch screen control. All button control is archaic and old fashioned tech that is way out of date and less efficient. Even having a touch bezel control, like the Samsung Active would be nice too. And would prefer some alternative colors. Granted one may want a flat black, if you dont want any reflection at night, but for those not using it in such situations, would be nice to have some other color options.
Any idea how to set the UTC. I set up alternate time zones but the 4th hand on the Tactix analog always seems to be something different. Can get them to match up.
Question ? So I’m leaving for bct in may so I bought the instinct solar , but I’m thinking of swapping it out for the fénix 5x plus. Should I stay with the instinct or go for the fénix.?
Like most of times, the Tactix look so much better..:) Use my 6x Sapphire now but with luck i get my Delta this week, and the design itself is worth it for me. :) Edit: Did get mine today, and i am with you with that "wow" when you first take it out of the box..:) My 6x Sapphire that is more or less the same feels so boring, the design on Delta they really did a good job on. My new daily garmin for now..:)
After seeing the specs and the features, I think this watch will be good to use by someone who work in harsh environment like mining, exploration, adventure, and so on beside the military one. And also garmin used to created gps handheld for those worked on that field so, why not to invest in this watch if you can bring gps in your wrist rather bring the big one lol
Any pros or cons you can share regarding the good or not so good readability of the blacked out kinda display during different types of lighting (bright sunny days & low light situations) ?
I've used trans reflective screens in the past. this one is no different, great in direct sunlight and it also has a back light for those night time viewings

I prefer the 6X that comes with the leather band as the bezel is jet black rather than dull grey

Please could you check the back button press and tell me, if your Tactix also has a soft touch and with a firmer press comes a switch function, if you know what I mean? At first you are starting pressing and nothing happens, you press firmer, than comes click and launch of back function. Other buttons haven't this "feature". I dont know, if its ok, or some defect... Thank you very much.

Hi, If you install the Garmin Trainer watch face from the IQ store on the Tactix Delta, does it exhibit the same lag when first pressing the Activity List button or switching to the first widget, similar to the lag it causes on the Fenix 6X? Thanks
The new Garmin Fenix 6x Tactix is absolutely stunning. Is it worth the upgrade over the Fenix 5? The aesthetics alone is worth the upgrade haha
That's a tough call! If it's just for the design of the tactix, sure!!! Lol. Seriously tho, you're getting a lot more over the 5 (non plus) like à more colorful screen, Garmin pay and music (don't remember if the 5 had music support but think that came with the plus model). Not to mention some new sensors and whatnot.

What is the battery life on the GT Delta?? Sometimes when going into the woods there's no place to charge anything. Also is there a solar app in this watch where one could charge the battery? If not could you recommend a watch with a solar charging feature? I'm rough on watches so any info would be great.

Look into Citizen solar watches.. they are pretty good at those.

Just bought one used for 290. I already have a fenix 5x, but I do stuff under nods and the fenix 5x doesn't play nice with that.

@@KaspaVolition I love mine too. I originally wanted to get the solar but I wasnt too sure about the practicality of it, I've never had an issue with the battery life...and the big thing was the omission of the sapphire glass.

Loaded features, but deal breaker for me, is no touch screen control. All button control is archaic and old fashioned tech that is way out of date and less efficient. Even having a touch bezel control, like the Samsung Active would be nice too. And would prefer some alternative colors. Granted one may want a flat black, if you dont want any reflection at night, but for those not using it in such situations, would be nice to have some other color options.
Now you just need the tactical version of the MARQ for the full comparison across the board.

Any idea how to set the UTC. I set up alternate time zones but the 4th hand on the Tactix analog always seems to be something different. Can get them to match up.
Question ? So I’m leaving for bct in may so I bought the instinct solar , but I’m thinking of swapping it out for the fénix 5x plus. Should I stay with the instinct or go for the fénix.?

My 6x Sapphire that is more or less the same feels so boring, the design on Delta they really did a good job on. My new daily garmin for now..:)

After seeing the specs and the features, I think this watch will be good to use by someone who work in harsh environment like mining, exploration, adventure, and so on beside the military one. And also garmin used to created gps handheld for those worked on that field so, why not to invest in this watch if you can bring gps in your wrist rather bring the big one lol

I've used trans reflective screens in the past. this one is no different, great in direct sunlight and it also has a back light for those night time viewings
