Jon Batiste stands as one of the most extraordinary and prolific musicians in history. His musical journey has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2018, the world recognized his brilliance as he earned a Grammy nomination in the Best American Roots category. But that was just the beginning.
Fast forward to 2020, and Jon Batiste's name was on everyone's lips. He received not one, but two Grammy nominations for his outstanding work on the albums "CHRONOLOGY OF A DREAM: LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD" and "MEDITATIONS" (a collaboration with Cory Wong). The accolades didn't stop there. That same year, he clinched an Academy Award for Best Original Score for the Disney/Pixar sensation, "SOUL." This achievement was all the more special because he shared this honor with the accomplished composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Jon's contributions to "SOUL" didn't go unnoticed, as he added a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a NAACP Image Award, and a Critic's Choice Award to his ever-growing list of accomplishments. His Oscar win made history, placing him in the esteemed company of legendary jazz musician Herbie Hancock as the second black composer to claim an Academy Award for composition.
Batiste's sonic journey continued with the release of his latest studio album, "WE ARE," in March 2021, which was met with resounding critical acclaim. The album's release was nothing short of a game-changer, as he secured an astonishing eleven Grammy nominations across seven diverse categories - a feat never before witnessed in Grammy history. And to top it off, he walked away with five of those Grammys, including the prestigious Album of the Year award.

Suleika, I am 338 days from my Bone Marrow transplant, Diagnosed in 2020 with CML, three separate Chemo treatments, my condition went into blast phase with all sorts of mutations.....but I am alive and Leukemia free. I read your book and connected on so many levels. I am in the process of trying to go forward with some sort of life after three years of illness. But I feel strong, positive and I will fight for my life always. I stand with you, I send strength, good energy, peace and all sorts of beauty to you. You are a warrior, brave and beautiful!! Rhea

Wow, you are both so lovely and brave and strong. When my eldest was "10," she was in the hospital for 10 months. She is now "49." I don’t think I’ve ever come across such an inspiring video. I already know talented Jon is and now I know what a loving and wonderful husband he is, as well. That kind of outpouring of love for his talented wife makes me wish I had someone with me through my chemo days. You both have so much love that you share, love will get you through it. My husband and I have been married 60ty years in Feb and if we could be would be married another 60ty. My husband has battled cancer 3 times and he has beat it each time. Together we have gotten through it and you two can also get through this. Nothing can beat the love to be able to bear the hear ache that you get. Hang in there know that I will be thinking about you through your time and then the healing will start.
