- UPDATE 6/10/2019:
The button problem appeared again after a while, however this time i was able to see the radio trying to seek for a station, it seems that the Seek+ button was giving problems, i removed it from the PCB board and the radio is fine since.
################################
This is a Sony Xplod 52wx4 radio that had some buttons not working. After trying reset the radio and check for stuck buttons the problem remains. So i try to clean out the buttons to neutralize some moisture in them, and that seems to do the trick. I used alcohol to help the cleaning process, so you do not need to do the first hair dry like i did in the video ;)

Did the trick. Alcohol and blow dryer. Had to watch eight other useless videos before I found yours. Thanks.
Did it work for you?
This is the video I have been looking for. Thanks buddy. I have wasted past 3 years watching useless videos.
Tried this a few times but it worked! Lots of blow drying and wiping the backside / non-button side with alcohol as well. Thanks so much!
hi, did you use cold air or tumble to dry?
Thanks! Removing the lower Seek switch worked for us. Thanks again!
Honor a quien honor merece, muy escéptico, puse en práctica tu consejo y funcionó de maravilla!
Gracias!
Que es el likido que le pones. Ami se me callo el estéreo. Y ahora no cambia de cancion y no sube el volumen

Thank you, I tried this method and it worked very well
On my CDX-F5700 all the buttons work but the ones around the knob (left) are erratic in which function they perform. Any ideas? Do I need another faceplate to fix this?
Amazing trick, 100% working after this. Thanks
Thank you very much brother 👍 You saved me alot of money ! God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
All I had to do was blow dry irhe circuit board and press the buttons! Thank you!
Yes, thank you! Already disassembled and saw no obvious problems, put it back together, and still it no worky .. Now I see a viable solution from your video, can't wait to try it and get my stereo fixed! I'll think thoughts of gratitude when I roll down the block pumpin' dem beatz!!,
Any updates?
Excellent help mate thank you top job
Sir , i did all these things, but the equalizer menu and next/previous buttons are still not working . Any other suggestions? Plz 🙏🏼
Hello, thanks for the video, I’m going to try it in the morning! I have one question though, you mentioned in the description to simply remove the seek+ button if the problem persists. Do you just cut it off? Cheers
Hi there. I used a solder iron to remove it, but if you are going to cut it off i think its fine. Just make sure that is the Seek+ button that is giving you trouble, for me it was, i used that button a lot to seek for a station. Thanks!
@@mrfixit8400 great, thank you for the video and for replying to my question! :)
@@michaelmoore7684 The Static on FM Radio on 87.5 FM Can Be Annoying.
Thank you so much honestly
Same issue with mine. Check the fuse if this video doesn’t help, my fuse had blown but was still making a small contact. The face plate had power just not enough for the buttons to work
What is that lequid are you using?
Will it work with only hair dryer?
very useful..thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Good video!
I need to replace seek+ button on sony cdx-gt33u. Which part number is it, how to find that out ?
Cheers
Thanks,it works
I tried exactly how you doing it but it still doesn't work. When you blow it are you using cold or hot air?
Hot air will perform better. Use air dryer (not heat gun). If you use to click on Seek buttons a lot, better try to remove the most used button
Jvc kdr-425 car sterio button not working plz help cd not removable

Buttons on my sony home audio system mHC-EC919ip stopped working only the power button and volume works can you help please?
Is remote controller working?
Same problem
I have same problem.
I lost the remote and i got a new system instead
What do you do if it's just constantly seeking through? My radio is just auto scrolling forward and the buttons don't work. Same if I use USB. Knob is unresponse, remote doesn't even work.
If it is doing that then for sure the seek button is stuck.
Hi Please let me know what the size of the USB should be as i keep getting usb device not supported Many Thanks
try different usb flash drives, and maybe format it as FAT would help.
Sir in my car sound system the sound is not coming pls help

Dear, what I have to do, If I switch on , don't work all buttons ?
I would bet on the power button then, try to clean it and as last resource exchange that button with other one. Thanks!

Hi, i have the exact same radio with a different problem. When my radio starts, it turns blue and sometimes it doens start up, most of the times it goed to radio. From there the only button that functions is the eject CD button. The others dont work at all. And if I press the eject CD button, the whole thing turns off. When eject pressed again it turns on again. Do u have any suggestions?
Hi! You may start by doing the cleaning procedure that i show in the video. If that doesnt solve the issue, you need to give attention to the buttons with more wear/ you use most, they could be stuck and need to be replaced. In my case it was the Seek+ button, in your case could be another one. Good luck!
I have the same problem, how did you solve it?
Thanks for the info, it work for me :)
Bro same problem with me buttons are not working
Can Methylated spirit work as a solution?
Is the hair dryer really necessary?
Just make sure it properly dries before using it, the hair dryer helps on that.
Thanks for the video i have tried it several times and nothing happened
The problem came after long pressing the seek + button but i am not sure that it is the reason how to make sure and know which button
And when i long press the pause button i hear the peep and the usb restarts
If the cleaning didnt help, you can remove the seek+ button from the board and check if it works.
How to know which button to remove
I would pick the seek+ button. If that doesn't work, try to press each one and check if you notice some clicking differences between the buttons.
Yeh new kitne ka ayega
Help, I don't have any hair dryer... lol
The multimeter beeped on all buttons :D
ripped em all off exept menu still nothing. Rip
I installed a CD/USB stereo around 2013, I loved it, but it would get this problem sometimes, finally had to replace it about 2019,
I've had a Kenwood for the time being, bought a SONY USB (no CD) stereo, just installed it and it's doing the same thing.....
HOW THE F HAS SONY NOT FIGURED THIS OUT YET..... WTF.
It is really annoying thats for sure!

I have da exact same issue knob and source button work but da rest dont i used rubbing alcohol but did not work i skiped da hair dryer part
Check your Seek+ or Seek- buttons
Bhai eska volume batan kha milega

I’ll try this ....have same problem.
I’m having the same problem to I’m scared to take mine apart though
इसका rs rate Kitna hoga
Were you using hot or cold air from the hair dryer ? What does this do exactly ?
He said in description it's trying to remove any residual moisture
I think hot helps on any loose soldering connection. I saw similar fixes on ps3 issues
seem sony is not good product..i will never buy sony again
@@arezem51 in my case.. my sony car stereo still works after 14 years..
Would using WD-40 help ? lol
XD maybe it helps!
Bro meri gaadi me kbhi kbhi music bhot acha chlta hai, lekin kbhi kbhi music k saath bhot noise si aati hai, jis se music quality zero ho jaati hai.. Kuch dino se stereo k upr aux failure, in case using Aux, ya fir USB failure likha aa raha hai, aur jb ye likha aata hai, driver side door wala speaker kaam krna bnd kr deta hai.. Phle phle saare speakers kam krte hai, thora time gaane play krne k baad ye likha aa jata hai. Sony ka stereo hai.. Btao dost kya kru kuch smjh ni aarha..
I have a same model and the same problem. Kind of annoying me
No ones got my fucking problem. Legit the eject button is the only botton that works. If I hold that I can turn up and down the volume. If I press it goes to aux mode or tuner mode but then it switches off. If I press eject again it turns back on. Is there a fix or no?
Eject button switch is fried bro, change it.
Fir bhi nahi ho raha hai
If this didn’t work you don’t feel bad. It didn’t work for me either. =\
Annoying music in background😑
Sorry to hear that
Your music has to go.
Why do people make "instructional" videos and give NO instructions, just stupid music?
Hi there! Well, i tried my best to provide the information on how i solved the buttons issue for my radio. You need to walkthrough the whole video and read the description also, not only listen the music. Thanks!
@@mrfixit8400 it's supposed to be an instructional VIDEO...would have much preferred you talking through what you're doing as you're doing it...thanks for the effort
