    How come I've never seen this channel before? I've been learning European Spanish for a good while now, and this is the first I've seen/heard of you. Great video, really like the down to earth conversational style here. It doesn't feel overly curated, but more informed by real life experience. Safe to say you earned yourself a new subscriber. Oh and by the way, while I may be Danish by birth, I speak with a reasonably convincing American accent and do professional voice over work, so if you guys were serious about a tongue-in-cheek voice over thing, feel free to hit me up!
    Muchas gracias chicos :)

    I enjoyed this video. Gordon’s American accent was amusing, and he’s right…if you ask someone in the US, “What have you done?!”, that person is probably in trouble.

    "I believe myself so much I want to sign up" 😂 I didn't know those from England try to imitate the American accent like we do with the english accent 😆

    Soy americano y tengo tiempo para la sobre voz. Pero tengo un pregunto. In advanced English, we learn to avoid the passive voice. Instead of “I have been learning Spanish,” it is better to say “I am learning Spanish,” por ejemplo (malo, lo siento). Does the same apply in Spanish? BTW, my Mexican friends also speak 90% in present perfect. Me gusta mucho porque es facil.

      Puedes decir 'he estado estudiando español 2 años' o 'estudio español desde hace 2 años' o, incluso, 'llevo 2 años estudiando español'.
      Si quieres hacernos un voice-over, por favor, escribe a Gordon a: lightspeedspanish@gmail.com
      ¡Gracias! Cx

    Unrelated to this video, but I am working through your subjunctive book (for the second time) and have a question. I know that we are supposed to listen for the "triggers", which usually seem to have the word "que" attached to them. One of the sentences in exercise 14a doesn't: 'Is there a phone around here where I can make a call?" There is no que in the Spanish translation, but the subjunctive is used (¿Hay un telefono por aqui desde donde PUEDA hacer una llamada?). This seems to indicate that if there is doubt = subjunctive regardless if the triggers are there or not. True?

    What I've heard is that the preterite is more commonly uses in Latin American countries while the present perfect is more commonly used in Spain

    Wow! I had to look very hard for a video of yours in which I had not already commented! First, I want to promote your book, PERFECTING THE PAST in SPANISH. Folks, if you don´t reliably know the Spanish past, this book sets the records straight BETTER than the four college Textbooks I have and distinctly better than McGraw Hill. The book would be worth it at $100 but, it´s not so, buy it if you need it. It´s really that good! Okay, Cynthia. Gordon. Read this please: Le dije lo que pensaba hacer y que también iba a necesitar su caballo. My question is this. Being that Imperfect is truly ¨was +ing¨ and ¨were +ing¨ because, it is!, can the past progressive be completely enveloped in the Imperfect and estuve -iendo, estaba -ando be only for tourists? I mean, I know it exists but, I´m willing to say, it truly isn´t used. I´m on page 350 of 450 of a novel and have not seen it once but rather, always Imperfect. What say you?¿

      @LightSpeedSpanishChannel  Před rokem

      Imperfect can be was/were -ing, but not always. For example: I visited him when I lived in London = Lo visité cuando vivía en Londres.
      Estuve haciendo = hice. Estaba haciendo= Hacía.
