    AutoCAD How to Create (Multiple) Viewports in a New Layout
    In this video I go over how to create a new viewport in autocad. To create a viewport I show you a few ways to create multiple viewports of various shapes a sizes in a new layout. Including polygonal and circle viewports. I also go through the process of creating and new layout by using a drawing template to save time and automate the process.
    This video was a response to a few comments I've received about how to show more detail on a single layout without it being a mess.
    As always don't forget to subscribe, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

    This was my only problem with cad but now I can move on with finalizing my project and all the credit goes to you buddy! One issue is that when plotting with this method the rectangles are showing on the paper view, how can we get red of the outlines?

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks, glad I could help! To get rid of the outlines of your viewports, just make sure to put your viewports on a VP or Viewport layer (any layer you want to use for your viewports) and set that layer to Noplot in the layer manager (click the litter printer icon to cross it out, meaning that layer wont plot)

  • @devmeistersuperprecision4155

    Good video but have two questions.
    1) my drawing has many layers. It would be nice to selectively turn off some layers in a viewport to show detail.
    2). How would you set up a single paper print to show multiple viewports using different drawings in each viewport. If a drawing changes, it does not affect the other part drawings.

      You can click the word Model or Paper along the bottom bar to switch between paper space and model space if you run into any issues with double-clicking. Also, CTRL+R with let you cycle between your viewports if you have more than one in a layout.

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  Před 3 lety +1

      Not a problem, glad I could help!
      I tend to put viewports on a dedicated viewport layer, can be called simply VP or Viewport. If working for a larger company there is typically a standard CAD layer list and it will contain a viewport layer. I also tend to set the layer to noplot so I don't see the viewport border when printing.

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  Před 7 lety +2

      Hey, Thanks for watching and the question! You're right, at 9min it does look like they didn't match in scale. I just re watched that part of the video and it looks like I hadn't bothered to set the annotative scale of the large view which is why the text in it is so small. I am planning to make a video this week or next covering annotative scaling more in depth since it's a pretty common question and kinda tough to master. You are right though, if set up correctly and you set all of your viewports annotative scales properly, all of the text (that has the same annotative paper size) will show up at the same size when printed.
      Thanks again for the comment, and for chatting in the live stream last week!
      Hope you have a good one, and cheers!

I want to have a full viewport layout of a cabinet then within that view port in a couple different places with a stacked viewport that is zoomed in on a few of the smaller components. yes, I've done quite a bit of surface modelling and working with large point and surface datasets with the 16gb of ram and haven't had any noticeable bogging issues. I've found that having a fast HDD or even better a Solid State drive helps more than the extra ram.
