Cockle mountain! Coastal Foraging for Filipino Tinola

  • A quick trip to one of our favourite haunts just before Christmas.
Take a look at how to find these delicious shells, and where they can be found. Today we have cooked them up in a bit of a filipino/english tinola fusion. It's not that easy finding pepper leaves and malunggay in the UK!
Too many channels are secretive about where they fish or forage, but we believe everyone should try it, and want to make it as accessible as possible. So get down to #Llansteffan, and find some for yourselves #sharingiscaring

I never tried these before; making me willing to try them just by looking at them. Great stuff, guys.

Hi Justina! In Bohol we call it ‘litub’ and what you suggested sounds nice. We might try it next time 😊

Haha, I Google these things, and feeling confident tell Amor what I'll cook next. She tells me that as a bisaya, apparently I'm speaking a different language! 😅 Halaan works for me! If you've any recipes, I'd love to try them. Amor is an OFW, so I love to make her feel at home ❤️

We've yet to get to the other side of the estuary, it's a tough sell with all those Cockles! We've been to some ares on the gower like whiteford sands and rhosilli, but it was a bit bleak in winter! Hoping to head to Morfa Bychan on the next spring tide, amd then further west after that. I've read about razor clams in Saundersfoot, but I'm not sure they really exist!

@@TheInflatableChef saundersfoot is great for shell fish! As is Wisemans Bridge. Really enjoying your videos. If you havnt yet come across Craig Evans google him. He is south wales based and has a few excellent youtube videos. He runs coastal foraging courses now I believe for a charge. Lovely chap x
