Thank you for posting this video. Exact same problem on a Maytag bottom freezer. That weird 60* fitting was cracked in half.

Thank you very much would not have tried without your video! Home Depot had the 5/16 step down to a quarter inch which I needed. mine looked just like yours. I snipped the 5/16 stuck the fitting on there and then ran a quarter inch to the solenoid. Thanks again!

oh boy..,. that was an expensive trial and error! mine has a slow leak... i've taken out the back cover... and i've been monitoring... so far, the only tiny leak I've see is coming from the inlet water tube connecting to the water filter housing.... i'll give it a couple more days... $60 part... but gotta do it.
    thanks for your video.
Update: 11/21. The leak didn’t stop…. It started getting heavier. I changed the water filter housing…. THAT fixed the leak! I had already picked out a fridge from Home Depot for $1800…. Now I just saved $1800!
    😝😝😝
Thanks again for the video. 👍🏼

I moved into my house two years ago and bought a new filter. I tried to get water and water was running across the floor lol......two years later i decided to look back there and see what was wrong. the little valve going into the inlet valve broke off :-( so i spent a little time looking for the exact part. But i needed a solution for how to connect the line from the frig to the valve and i came across this helpful video...thank you very much sir!

Very interesting. A mouse in the garage chewed that water line in my fridge. I’ll try this. Also, I purchased some sprinkler line connectors for some damage to the windshield washer line in the car. Just haven’t done the install. Congrats. Good job.

Same crack on the same part happened to our Whirlpool fridge. Leaked for years without us knowing whenever we dispensed water or fridge used water to make ice. Destroyed the floor underneath and we had no idea until warping of our laminate floor started to happen in the room on the other side of the wall from the fridge.

i don't even know why they use a fitting there. seems like sticking the tube into the pump would be better

Maybe you can help me.I have a leak btwn the 5/16 in .filter lin and the main water valve of my Whirlpool fridge. I am replacing the valve, but the tip of the 5/16in tube appears damaged. The tube has an integral flange about 3/4in of the tube end. Instead of replacing the entire tube, can I cut it past the flange(of course straight cut and flaring the edges) and reinsert on the new valve? What is the intent of the flange? I have another fridge with similar fitting but no flange on the tube. Any ideas.

The shut off valve should be in the basement where there is access, not recessed inside a wall.....

well, there's a main shut-off for the house, and then there's valve for the ice maker line. makes sense to me
