Thanks again for watching and supporting all of this, I really appreciate it guys!
Sold my last bike last year and told myself I would never get another. Just working out how I'm going to tell the wife I'm getting this!
Don't tell her you're getting it... just tell her you got it and it's in the garage lol ;)
Ha
I came here looking for tips on how to tell the wife lol... mine is here ready to be picked up... I haven't told her yet
Just tell her that it was given to you for free 😅
@K Gaius 🤣🤣🤣 it's done now, with all the hints came "you better get this done" and "not before such and such happens" I've ticked most off in time, going to pick it up on Saturday, 4 weeks early! She understands lol
Best review of 2021 Crf Rally so far!! Kudos to the person who created this concept to describe certain subject in so simple manner that every word enters your mind.
Thanks bud, really appreciate the kind words!
Awesome video! Finally someone who answered the question about valve check/adjustment period. I could not find a straight answer.
Thank you for the kind words!
I'm glad the info was helpful bud ;) . I try to hit on key points that I find important when looking to purchase something and maintenance is something that's generally overlooked until it's too late. I'm trying to improve these videos as much as possible so the feedback on what you liked hearing about etc is extremely helpful so thank you!
Already went down on my new Rally (just a heavy sand spill) whilst solo riding, and I was laughing how easy it was to pick it up, dust myself off and keep riding. Not a scratch on it either. Well designed with high mounted turn signals. The perfect machine for pretty much going anywhere at a modest pace.
How is she on the highway? What's a comfortable speed where she's not strained?
@@Jackson.T I own a CSC TT250 (Honda carbonated engine off-patent 230 cc). I am able to get 65mph on flat land after putting on a 47 tooth sprocket). I ride from my city to the CA national park. It’s great once in the mountain twisties, but am looking to add a larger CC adventure bike to get there with power and comfort.
@@forestmotoadventures thanks Paul, so how is the 300 Rally on the highway?
@@slakk5093 Mine is a 230 engine, but I think you meant to ask @ guzziguy2011, right?
After you went down on your Rally did she reciprocate? Asking for a friend.
I am a truck driver that hauls motorcycles for a living. Ironically, I haven't owned a bike for 20 years. I like this new Honda. I weigh 190lbs, so the soft suspension is a problem. Last new bike I bought was an '85 Yamaha XT250.
Wow! Looking into a video about a crf300l rally and this dudes from Chattanooga too! Nice
Hands down the best review I have ever seen on a bike period.. subscribed just now.
Thanks Paul, I really appreciate the kind words and support! This was one of my first videos of this style and I've been trying to improve them every step of the way to where we're at today.
Another great review Kevin, Thanks!. I looooove this bike. Glad I got a good look at it. Our local dealer says he doesn't even see these to appear in his showroom until late August, 2021.
Thanks for the support Greg, I really appreciate it bud!
Wow, August? That's crazy. It's really a shame at what this corona mess has done! I've never seen anything like it, up until this stuff you could find multiples of everything at almost every dealer but not anymore. Craziness...
OMG the best part was always the "Slash" LOL super nice review!
Got one on order for March 2022, Hyperpro progressive springs front and back, too.
Great video, makes me excited even more!
Heck yeah buddy, congrats! Hopefully there are no more delays and you can get on it ASAP!
Thank you, appreciate the kind words!
When the rally came out I absolutely hated the front headlight fairings..flash forward to now..and I freaking love it, I'd almost get the rally just because it looks so bad ass!
I enjoyed all aspects of the review video! I love the Honda motorcycles owning two myself. These are great bikes and this is a very informative video! I look forward to more reviews at any length of time. Thank you again for your time and effort to deliver this information !
Thanks a million for the kind words bud, I really appreciate the support...
If you don't mind me asking, what Hondas are you riding now?
@@HondaProKevin The Honda 2021 Rebel 1100 and the Honda 2021 CRF 450RL are the two that I have and riding. They are just great bikes! With the Rebel, I loved it from the moment I saw it and read reviews! Fantastic Rebel! The CRF450RL answered my street and off road desires and it is an amazing machine. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment and to even reply, I really appreciate this. I look forward to all your trusting reviews. Peace.
I'm sorry, this video ran on a lot longer than I originally wanted. I'm trying to keep them below 10 minutes but sometimes that's a little easier said than done as we can see here lol. Thanks again for all of the continued support lately, I really appreciate you guys!

Dude, the right length video is the appropriate length to say what needs to be said.
If you're having a hard time being sure you don't have filler, just make sure every sentence you write reinforces your video's focus statement. Which I think you're pretty good at doing.
I don’t mind a longer video so long as it’s providing useful information and/or is entertaining which yours does/is. My attention span is bigger than a goldfish’s. Lol. 👍
Very nice I have not rode in years but now at my age I am really interested in this bike
I've always liked Honda products. Straightforward video
Love your reviews of Dsport and off road bikes. Lots of great info!

Great review, this really helped me decide to put a deposit down on a 300L Rally.
Thank you!
Congrats on your Rally! Hopefully you don't have to wait too long to get your hands on one because of this rona mess!
Great vids man
Excellent review and video, many thanks.

What a great comparison. Great information video. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it ;)
Thanks for the great review. I think watching this has convinced me to get the Rally over the standard CRF300
Appreciate it Kevin!
I cringe looking back at the quality of these videos lol and wonder why I ever put them out but glad to hear it was helpful in helping you decide which route to go. Either way it's hard to make a bad decision but there are some definite pros and cons both ways.
That is the most thorough review of the Rally combined with best action video. Thanks a thousand times for this.
I own the 2018 Honda CRF 250 Rally which I've bought for my ride to Iceland and it did so well.
Next year I'll switch to the 300 modell. This year it's hardly available here in Germany.
Thanks for the your good work. Both thumbs up and subsribed.
I got the 250 rally in 2017. My only complaint is it's working hard dragging me along at 100km/h
@@tmurdoch2 Normal travel speed for me is 90 km/h, but it does not struggle to do 120 even with full holiday gear. The Arrow titanic exhaust is a little too loud for my taste, though.
Very helpful video, thanks a bunch
Glad to hear bud! Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it!
Just got my Rally, I really love it
Nice review! Thanks!
No no no, thank you ;)
Great detailed review. I'm just down the road from Chattanooga, may have to drop by Southern Honda Powersports soon and check one out
Thank you!
Oh yeah, if you're just down the road then you have to check them out. They just moved into their new building this week which makes them a level 5 dealership, holy smokes is it awesome compared to where they were! Plus they get some new perks which means more units and more of the limited models etc. Long story short lol, they are worth checking out ;)
Nicee... Maybe an ignition map switch. It sounds like my 2008 crf 450 x almost. Nice updates like dropping the weight and increasing the power. The service intervals are great and also the 6th gear is great. Woow... I really like this bike.
I love honda ever since wayback 1980's I have honda xl bring me happiness always off road and on the road
Heck yeah, can't beat an XL!
Great job Kevin, thank you!

Just picked one up today, can't wait to take it to the mountains.
Heck yeah, that's awesome! Congrats on your new toy and hopefully you get to take her up to the mountains soon for some fun!
If you don't mind me asking. What were you riding before the Rally?
Where did you get it from? The dealership he speaks about in this video has no clue when they will have a bike available.
How are you liking it? I put a deposit down on one today ✌️

Also I join the questions above
🤙🏽🙏🏼
Good video. Helpful info. Nice close ups of the bike. May go this route, since Yamaha can't seem to get the 700 Tenere to the dealers.
Thanks bud, appreciate the kind words!
It's crazy times for sure with how limited availability is on 9 out of 10 bikes out there! It doesn't seem like that long ago all of us dealers had everything in stock at all times and if you ran out, no worries as Honda had it in the warehouse and you could have it within 1-2 weeks. Now, there's nothing in the holding warehouses and good luck on ordering anything and actually getting it in a reasonable time unless luck is really on your side. It's wild what this rona mess has done to everything!
Best review 👌🏼
Great Video and Info thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Very detailed review 👌
Great video. Sold me on the bike although a 450 Rally might not be bad. But 80 mph down the tarmac in between trails is plenty!!
Thanks bud, appreciate the kind words.
Oh yeah, if they can make a 450 Rally and keep the maintenance schedule similar to this bike then it'd sell like hot cakes but until then I think we're going to see more and more people hop on these 300s. Like you said, 80 is plenty!
A Crf 450 rally with 45hp and possible weight gain of 10kgs paired
with a set of gold 19/17 tubeless spoked wheels would be the perfect touring bike.
Thank you for your review. I've been riding a Honda CTX200 for the last 10 years, a great bike, but its low maximum speed makes for scary riding on freeways. I had my eye on the 250 Rally, the 300 looks good. As this is an adventure bike why not add a rack at the back as a standard feature?
Beautiful bike and beautiful ride my friend!
Ive got one on order right now..5/24/22 Paid for in full...they claim it will be here in 2 weeks. We shall see. Im sure they are doing their very best though. And a Honda is worth waiting for IMOP. Ol man Honda, NEVER has made a bad product ! The name Honda is a badge of excellence . The 450 has a much higher maintenance schedule, but is heavier, and has more balls then most of us need. Im VERY excited about my 300 Rally ! I sold my TW 200 and a collectable Pistol and paid for this Rally in full. No payments makes for a nicer ride they say !
So tempted with this bike, even though I don't off road much, not too worried about lack of power as not ridden for a few years. The weight and the costs are what attract me the most, my last bike, a KTM 950adv (loved it) seemed to cost too much to service, insure, repair and it was blooming heavy
Sorry.. Great review, enjoyed it.
It sounds like you've sold yourself on the bike as it "fixes" everything you didn't like about the KTM lol ;)
Thanks bud, appreciate the kind words!
Great video on the Rally! Question: not really liking that bodywork for the lowers. Is that a real skid plate down there or just a plastic cover. If plastic that has to go first. Will get destroyed on a rocky trail. Would rather have a nice, thick plastic or aluminum skid plate instead. Let me know your thoughts on that. But I love the bike
Great video, thank you. Put money down on a Rally without seeing one so yeah I think it's a great bike and I won't be disappointed. Was looking at the 450l but not with that maintenence schedule. I know it's a much harder sport bike but still, way to frequent for what I need.
Thanks for the kind words and support! Heck yeah, you're going to love it! Bang for the buck when you look at the big picture it's hard to beat this guy compared to the CRF450RL.
@@HondaProKevin I hope so! Can't wait till I can get out there!
Great review, thanks. The location you're riding looks amazing, where is this?
Thanks for the kind words!
I wish I could say that was me riding as it looks like a beautiful area for sure! I'm sorry but I don't know exactly where it was as Honda provided the footage and didn't say where it was shot etc.
Perfect bike going south of the border as there plenty of service centers but going on the highway here in the US kind of wishing bigger engine. It can be done but some places drivers go over 80 mph.
home to trail riding bike.... the rally look , very cool
Great video Sir.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words!
Great overview Kevin!
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support...
On a side note, it's too cool seeing an alert pop up on my phone saying "Yoshimura commented on" lol! It means a lot to a little guy like me so thank you again.
@@HondaProKevin everyone counts. Thanks for being such a great enthusiast for the motorcycle industry. especially small bore!
@@HondaProKevin I think the Rally is the better buy because of the windscreen and larger fuel capacity.
The dual purpose of the bike is also excellent, similar to my own life hack.
Because sometimes when I’m lonely I will shave one leg so it feels like I’m sleeping with a woman. 👱🏼♀️
So I guess you could say I am dual sport also. 🤷🏽♂️
Great review!
Thanks Jamie, I really appreciate the kind words ;)
Have one on order, from Rochester Motor sports in N.H. They claim it will be in in the first week or two of June. I will let you know how this all goes ! 5/26/22 ordered 2 weeks ago...
Great review!!
Thank you, really appreciate the kind words!
Sold my 250 Rally 3 weeks ago. If Honda doesn´t bring a 450 L Rally in the next 3 years, i will be back on a used 300 L Rally. But i hope they do the 450, than i will sell my 2016 AT. The 450 L Rally concept is now 3-4 years ago, time to do something... pls Honda!
So, how was your experience with 250? Does it have enough torque? I also have 2017 AT and wanted something lighter/easier as side bike.
lol oh yeah, that CRF450 Rally concept is a little long in the tooth now. Maybe it's taken them this long to squeeze out longer maintenance intervals haha?
Thankfully not much longer until the cat is out of the bag on their latest model though!
Super video!
Thank you!
Good review! 👍🏼
Thank you, much appreciated ;)
Another excellent video
Thank you, I really appreciate the support!
I sure wish I could see one of these or the 300L in person. Nobody in my area is able to get one. Hopefully soon!
Hopefully soon bud! Normally you'd find one at every dealer but this corona mess has sadly put a halt to that.
I bought one of the first 300 Rallys to arrive in Central Florida about 2 weeks ago. I was looking for something much lighter than my Tiger 900 RP for tight trail work and dealing with the Florida sand in the middle of summer. So far I love this bike, I did add 2" bar risers for easier reach while standing and I found a Honda Indonesia skid plate that mounts above the stock plastic piece for additional protection. I will be letting my adult son ride this one as well now that I have 2 adventure style bikes and if Honda would build a 450/500 bike just like this with reasonable service intervals then I'd probably trade the Tiger.
Heck yeah, that's awesome and you got lucky snatching that one up when you did! It's hard to find anyone that doesn't just love the bike like you said as long as you go into it with the correct expectations. Hopefully we'll see that bike sooner than later as it'd sell like hotcakes...
Thanks for commenting and subscribing, I really appreciate the support! You guys ride safe down there!
@Jackson Grinnell We go up to Ocala and over to Inverness occasionally but mostly I play around on the 417 construction area on Sunday mornings. Totally envious of those other parts of the country with amazing places to ride
do you have the brand name of the skid plate or a link www ? thanks
Bought one , picking it up this week, interested in the skid plate you bought
Excellent video 👍👍
Thanks bud, really appreciate the support...
Honda is dipping there feet in having the unicorn bike with this line up. Little more power little better suspension and your pretty freakin close.
I think this is a great bike for people wanting to get into the duel sports adventure.
Maybe even a commuter during the week and a look around in the weekend.
You only need a bigger engine when you start loading up the bike with luggage and get more experienced.
You hit the nail on the head!
No you don't, plenty of people are travelling with this bike with luggage, and plenty of experienced riders love it and are getting it to replace other bikes, upgrading it to their liking.
Great video
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for all the good info. I am thinking pretty hard about owning the CRF300L. I own a NC700X and it is to heavy for my liking and my CRF230L is under powered for the Highways. The 300 looks like a good compromise.
Yes sir, thank you for the support and kind words...
Oh yeah, that CRF230L is horribly underpowered once you start to even think about the highway. It was a good effort from Honda for their first attempt but they really started to nail that package down when they went to the CRF250L platform and now it's bang on with just another slight performance bump among the other tweaks of course. You'll feel like you're on a Cadillac with the 300 compared to your 230 ;)
You can see the kickstand drop down at 10:25. I had the same problem on my DRZ and had to disable the interlock otherwise the engine cuts out.
@@2000jago good to know
I saw that too. I have a DRZ and occasionally the engine will cut out due to the same issue. Sometimes I bump it with the heel of my boot to cause the problem as well.
The video around 12 minutes, is this yours or Honda’s? It is excellent and I’m very impressed. What gimbal are you using and camera?
I wish I could say it was mine lol as it's a killer shot but it is Honda's stock footage ;)
Good video Kevin
Thanks bud! Really appreciate the support...
this looks very tempting but I'd like to know how it's behaving on highway. what's a comfortable speed? thanks
Be great if they brought out a 450 but your great review of the 300 has got me thinking haha
Best review I’ve watched yet
Thank you... I really appreciate the kind words!
@@HondaProKevin Your review has got me closer to buying the Honda Rally
good video
I got a brand new 1976 Honda XL 350, Loved that bike. is the Honda 300 rally close to that bike. Right now I am riding a BMW f700gs, I find, that I can not go off road with it like I did with my 350. Even if I had my 350 today I am not sure I could ride it like I use to. I am much older (70 years old) and I am 100 lbs heaver.
I have limited motion of my legs and don't bend as far as before. Hopefully I can find a fuel sport that has more forward pegs .
Amazing bike indeed and a 450 rally would be perfect!
Great learning vid. I will wait one year for a 300r. However if a 450r or 400r were to appear and have the long term maintenance schedules? Boom, done deal.
Thanks
Hopefully soon!
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!
Sold! Moving to Hawaii in two weeks and will be my first purchase. Just sold my 2020 tw200
Nice! I might be slightly jealous on that Hawaii part lol!
I've had quite a few customers make the jump from the TW200 over the years for these and everyone loved it. Congrats on picking her up soon and on the move too!
just about the most boring place to own a motorbike 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is the gearing the same on the rally vs the non - rally models?
What about valve clearance and how long between they are and how much it costs ?
A CRF450L Rally.. with bigger tank and we all know Honda could rework the engine to get better or longer runs between maintenance schedules, 6 gears, ... BAMM!!! Could that truly be the altimate dual sport? ... Would it finally kill off the DZ400? .... It certainly would be much lighter than the 650s from any manufacturer, plenty of power, ease of handling... What more is there to say... Build it Honda!! We will buy it
You're spot on bud. They can do it, it's just whether or not they think it's profitable after sinking the money into R&D. Judging from the amount of people saying the same thing, I think the market for something along those lines is YUGE!
Yep a 400 or 450 would be perfect
Thanks so much you sir
Thank you!
I'd like to see a CRF500L Rally with an engine that's bumped up in displacement compared to the 450, but detuned a bit (and with more oil capacity) so it can have longer maintenance intervals.
Very comprehensive video man, well done. I know the bike is a budget option, but really how much more would it have cost to put cartidges in the forks and a gas resev. shock etc. The WR250R wasn't that much more and had these. Replacing these with aftermarket options is ridiculously expensive. Also it would have been nice to blow out the bore a fraction and get it a true 300cc.
Thank you, appreciate the kind words!
The WR250R was a lot of bike for the money and I'm still surprised we don't have it in the lineup anymore. Honda thinks that undercutting it by about $1,400 on the suspension side of things was worth it in the longrun as the majority of people, don't care about that. I know us enthusiasts always want more in aspects like that as we actually use the suspension and the bike like it was meant to be used but from my experience of selling bikes over the last 15 years - we're the minority. So from a business perspective, I can see why they do it but that's not to say I agree with going for the cheaper option over building a better bike overall, even if the MSRP has to jump an extra $1,000 or more.
It'd be nice if Honda could offer an option, that way if you wanted to order it with XYZ suspension and pay extra up front for it then you can or opt for the cheaper setup if you're the type of person that won't really be using it. They already sell a crap ton of these things but they could move even more with that as a possibility. There's no telling what the logistics behind that would look like but I'd love to chit chat with someone that could answer questions on why that is or isn't a viable option when crunching their numbers.
@@HondaProKevin Thanks mate, I suspect the reason for the price difference (and the demise of the WR-R) was that it was made in Japan rather than Thailand like the CRF. At manufacturing level the components would be worth less $100. They're so close to busting open a new segment that you can smell it. As for the yamaha, the rumour is the MT03 might get a transplant into a T3 to compete with the 390ADV. Optional extra's tend to complicate inventory, logistics and manfuacturing, so they'd avoid that on a budget bike. A UK guy has made a good vid recently on all the suspensoin options and costings if you haven't seen it. (A bit scary $$).
Thanks dude
No no no, thank you!
"Honda focused R&D in Lightning the bike" I was confused though till the second sentence hhahahahah
Lol! I definitely could've done a better job there.
If they made a 450 rally I would immediately order one. Im in between buying this or a ktm 690 for adventure riding. The extra power on the ktm translates to more fun and excitement for me but it needs more modificstions to make it a light adventure bike and whats nice about the 300 rally is that although its a little under powered it doesn't need much more aftermarket modification to be ready for adventure riding. The dream would be something as close to a ktm or honda works 450 rally as possible.
I'm not really a fan of how those lights are designed or look on the front.. seems like they should be one on the top and bottom? but i guess there's reasons for that. and the windshield.. does it actually make much difference? seems a bit low or small to do anything? but i don't know? I'm wanting the 300L
Here in California these are impossible to find..been wanting to do super moto conversion..
It's a great bike , perfect starter. Upgrade suspension if you want to get crazy off road.
Can you recommend suspension upgrade?
One of the few new bikes I would buy, I can see not far in the future a lot of people traveling around the world on these bikes.
100%! Bang for the buck these bikes are hard to beat and with hardly any maintenance needed, you could go just about anywhere. There's a good reason this segment has been growing and growing.
@@HondaProKevin agree, Honda did it right with this one, it doesn't matter how many CC's you have under if your bike is as heavy as an anchor, less weight is usually better than more CC's.
Great video man, appreciate it! This bike is one in my 4 bikes in 4 years plan. This one, a monkey, a tw200, which by the way if you see a good one even if it needs work let me know, and possibly a royal enfield Himalayan. Has Southern been able to keep these on the floor or taking orders? Keep up the good work man
I should've never sold my tw200. Super fun, super reliable, go anywhere bike!
Thanks as always for the support bud! Oh and speaking of Monkeys, we're real close to our announcement of the new 2022 with a 5-speed etc. I just wonder if they are going to skimp on colors for us again. I'll definitely keep you in mind if I stumble across anything. Nah, with these they have been rolling out the door as quick as they roll in at Southern Honda but they are getting them in. They are pretty good at keeping their inventory updated online unlike most though, over at www.SouthernHonda.com . I'm just ready for this inventory shortage mess to be over with and get some normalcy back!
@@HondaProKevin 5 speed will be sweet, I guess that would be worth not having the best color over! If the CT comes out in a 5 speed I may need 2nd one!
I would like to see Honda come out with a 650 or 750 Africa twin to compete with the tenere 700 and ktm 890 adventure s and r models
Does Honda make any form of rear rack for this bike? Something to hold some weekend outing gear.
Honda doesn't make one but there are multiple rear racks in the aftermarket world for this bike ;)
Would the motor guard work on the 300L
Fantastic, thorough review. This is my first video on your channel. I’m subscribed now! Question…I am a newbie regarding dual sports (my ride is a BMW R1200GS) but I am impressed with my wife’s new 2021 CB500X, our first Honda. So I’m really considering this CRF 300L Rally to use to be able to tackle trails I won’t take my monster bike down for fear of crushing myself. I’m just out for the backwoods scenery. It seems like this 300L Rally might be a fit. 👍 BUT, I am height challenged with a 30” inseam. I’m just learning about things like lowering links but not sure if that’s an “ok” thing to really be doing or just a dangerous hack. And are there other things I should be considering to get my feet closer to terra forma? My goals for the bike would be to toss on light luggage and go camping. No real aggressive or fast stuff for me. I’m too old to crash. 😁
Thank you for the kind words and support too, I really appreciate it!
Oh yeah, I don't blame you one bit for wanting to hop on something a little smaller for basic stuff as your current ride is a tank when it comes to really hitting the trails. I'm not knocking the bike by any means as the R1200GS is awesome but it's big lol and I have massive respect for the pros out there that can throw them around like they're a small dirtbike off-road but I'm not that skilled lol! For what you're looking to do, the 300L models are definitely hard to beat and will do that and then some, while being a lot more fun than having to fight a big bike around. Have you sat on the 300L or Rally yet? Their seat heights can be deceiving because of how much sag they have when you sit on them is why I ask and you may end up not having to worry about a lowering link.
My personal opinion on lowering a bike... Every lowered bike I have ridden, I absolutely hated and would not ride again lol! With that said though, I'm lucky enough to not be vertically challenged to where I need one and if it was either lowering a bike to ride it or not riding at all then I would most definitely lower it. There is no getting around the fact that it does seriously alter how it feels and handles though and not in a positive way, it slows down the flickability among other aspects drastically. I wouldn't say it's a "dangerous" hack but if possible, I would try every other route imaginable before going that route. I've seen guys have an upholstery shop cut into the foam of their seat and reshape it to gain some room there so that's always an option on getting your feet closer to the ground.
Thanks so much for the feedback! It really helps. Yes, I need to try these bikes on for size and see how they feel. 👍
Brad, if You capable for the GS, You will be fine with this!
I love it how your dollar prices are basically the same as our UK pound prices - we get ripped off to fck in the UK
I want this bike... I'm on Versys 650 now but I can't go in places I want, it's good road bike but not fully adventure
What skid plate is everyone getting for this? The stock model doesn't come with one
