At first, it was easy to scoff at hybrid Lexus sports utility vehicles. They only plumbed that technology in there because they didn't have a decent diesel engine to put into them, we chuckled. While there was an element of truth in that, none of us cynics realised quite how committed Lexus was to the cause. The early RX 400h set the template but the RX 450h was a massively improved proposition. Would it be a better car if it had a diesel engine under the bonnet? I'm not certain it would Here's what to look for when shopping for a used version of this very successful SUV.

Im on my 2nd RX450H 2012 w/ 149K miles and now 2019 at 88K not once have I brought them to the dealer. Just regular maintenance and 12 volt battery replacements. Can't beat the reliability of these RX SUVs

I have the SE-L Premier. I do up to 40mph on electric only and the best I have had is 34mpg. The only downsides are poor display screen, one side view camera, no phone mirroring . Its a great upgrade from my 400h.

This is a lovely car, i'm surprised that there arn't that many on British roads and that is because they are very underrated in the UK

I am looking at buying one of these but need to know what it can tow. I've had replies of 2000kg 3500kg and 3500lb. The vin plat will give front and rear axcel weights and the max train weight this info would be a big help thanks

With the 400h and the 450 remove the rear cat and straight pipe it.
The main 2 cats are under the bonnet. Did this with my 400h no issues at all. Sailed through 3 mot's

@@user-bj1gi2rv9r Good advice. I think that is what my local garage did because whatever they put on....is still there! Also, it has passed 2 MOT's, even Lexus gave it an MOT Pass.
