Mormon food, fresh grave, Egyptian room, white Area 51 bus, petroglyphs, dry lake bed racing, waste management collection, you and Jessica looked cool in your robes! Happy Winter Solstice!
Yeah if you like Patronizing people who insult your intelligence on a weekly basis. You must be one of those people. Do you need to be reminded about Corona virus every week?
Thanks to you, and Jessica, for the journey to Alamo, NV! You both looked great, and I enjoyed seeing you both having a grand time! Best wishes to you, and Jessica, for a great new year! May another adventure be in your future! 🧧🤙🌅
That is so cool! What a awesome experience of being there at the winter solstice. And when the 2 planets aligned too! Imagine all the people that have never been able to see that in the last 600 years. Just mind blowing!
Alamo is one of my mandatory pit stops when travelling Hwy 93. I was somewhat amused when you referred to the store in Alamo as "a convenience store and gas station." It is actually a fairly large supermarket with meat and produce departments. They also have a fast food carryout there, unless it closed for the pandemic. I had no idea that Stonehenge, aka RyanHenge existed, and I've traveled that route dozens of times over the years. Thank you for the info. I'll stop by next time. BTW there is another cemetery just north of Alamo. It is visible from Hwy 93 and on the east side of the highway. I think it has many of the local pioneer settlers graves and may be worth your while to visit next time you're in the area. Have a Happy New Year
Awesome room! The Lighting is great! Jessica is lucky to be along for the journey. I'm vegan and Amy's is one of my favorites too! Your stonehenge adventure makes me want to go there myself. Jessica is really cool. I see why you are friends.
I love this so much. Thanks for all your videos-I miss Nevada like crazy and I’ve felt particularly stuck in Michigan this year (because I have been!) and vicariously exploring with you has made a huge difference. Happy Solstice/Christmas/New Years!
So they had the Rolling Stones in the 1800’s? I learn something new on every one of your videos! 😂 Seriously though, you are a GREAT tour guide! I never get tired of your “yacking”.
The true name of the pistachio stuff you were eating is “Watergate salad”! It is made with Cool Whip mixed with pistachio pudding mix, add pineapple and marshmallows. Let it sit overnight. I’ve never heard that it was a Mormon dish. My family has always eaten that during the holidays, it is often requested. ♥️
Hi from New subscriber in California! You are a breath of fresh air. My wife who is a deputy sheriff wanted to remind you to take every satiety items you can! Take care and love the latest.
I cant believe I missed this episode. The research you do on places you visit to share with us is amazing. I want you to know I very much appreciate the time, editing and of course fuel you spend just to entertain and educate us. I'm from Reno and I now know I've not explored Nevada enough, a must do for myself soon. Being ex Air Force the info on the X-15 truly grabbed my attention, thank you! Love your channel, be safe 'of course' and I'll stay tuned more often. Awesome to see Jessica once again.
C'mon, Sara Jane, we love your half-cocked ramblings. I really like Jessica's tune Vacation Alamo Getaway, & your excellent rendition of Harper Valley PTA. That mini Stonehenge is awesome, and you guys are like a druid comedy duo, it's great, like a couple of Practical Cloak'ers acting all Cloak'ie, love it. Have fun, stay safe, & Happy New Year Wonderhussy, You Rock ! Bob. G
I really like when you pair up with Jessica, you two just work well together!! Thank you for the fun explore!! Happen New Years Sarah and Jessica. 💛💚💜🥂you ladies rock, or I should say slay me!!
A few miles past Texas Lake (north-east) there are two old abandoned cemeteries, Delamar and Helene. One of the best petroglyph sites is in an area called the Shooting Gallery west of Alamo in the Badger Valley. There are a gazillion (well maybe only half a gazillion) of them with many dating back pre bow and arrow.
God i love the grand scenery of the mountains and clarity in this video. I take road trips like this every chance i get. It's so calming and underwhelming!
Cool video. I had a project in that Area. We were happy that store was there in the gas station. We went to that lake bed too. Lots of memories. Thanks for posting.
Christmas star was suppose to be created by looking at Jupiter and Saturn. Not since 800 years ago have those two planets been this close and "visible" by most everyone (if not cloudy, that is). Sounds like you two had a lot of fun. God bless.
I've stopped in Alamo many times for gas and groceries where you did, when heading to Rachel or out to climb Tikaboo Peak to see into Area 51. Love the vibe of that area, and have also spoken with Pat while eating at the inn in Rachel. I assume she told you to be careful not to hit any cattle in the road, it's something she worries about. Hates losing customers because they ran into the danged black cattle lying down on the black road at night. Room 12, eh? If I ever stay in Alamo, I'll have to go for the "Wonderhussy slept here room" hahaha. But usually I sleep near the trailhead for Tikaboo when in the area. 20 miles on a dirt road that can be in rough shape some years, don't drive into a cattle gate on it! I forget which motel in Alamo which was where Adam West (Batman) always stayed at when passing through driving to or from his vacation home. Might be passing through Vegas/Alamo again around March. Will wait and see whether conditions are suitable for checking out the road you took to the A-12 memorial, and that general area. If not too snowy, I might hang out in the middle of nowhere around there for a while. Then swing by Rachel for a burger, maybe head up through Tonopah and Austin, etc. I've been through there before, but have since heard there are some cool things I missed, hahaha.
Thanks for just another great adventure miss Wonderhussy! Can't get enough of your shananigans! May the New Year bring you many happy trails and wonderful delights! 2021 surely will be an improvement over 2020. Keep safe!
The X-15 was one of the reasons why I joined the Airforce. As a "child of the '60s," I was in awe of such things and remember watching the moon landing with my parents like it was yesterday. I'd think they'd be lined up behind you (or did you pay them off to stay out of frame!?) lol I think it's interesting that you'd mentioned that you didn't think the alignment was going to be exact when the sun dropped. People don't realize just how fast the earth spins in *both* directions. If the sun is exactly four (average sized) fingers in distance above the unobstructed horizon, you have an hour before sunset. That's moving pretty fast... If the earth spins that far "up and down" in an hour, why shouldn't it travel "sideways" a significant amount, as well!? :) As for your "moving stones" mentioned in that plaque... There actually is a place in the desert with stones that "migrate" across the sand... The "Sailing stones of Death Valley," some upwards of 700lbs, have been tracked for hundreds of feet across the floor of the desert. They finally discovered that it's due to water freezing in ponds and, when it breaks up, the ice is driving the stones in front of it. It took decades to figure out what cased the movement. (See "Mystery of Death Valley's moving stones solved" on CZcams). Hey, Wonder Hussy! (big, unoffending smiles 😀) In defense of these petroglyphs, they have been there, facing the sun and unprotected... For quite a long time. The rock had to be soft enough to carve in the first place which means they're destined to errode so, appreciate them for what they are! It's not like they're in a museum or that the original artist (actually, "writer") planned on them lasting how many hundred years. Dam I have been through there many many many times and stopped for gas and snacks too. Never seen anymore of the town except right off the main highway.
Another great video, though I'm a little late seeing it..... The X-15 flew out of Edwards AFB on it's test flights. I worked on that project back in the early 60's............
The X-15 was an experimental rocket-plane flown in the fifties and sixties. It was carried aloft by a B-52 bomber and ascended high enough on rocket-power that it's pilots have been recently considered astronauts. Neil Armstrong was one of the pilots.
Delamar was one of several dry lake beds that served as possible emergency landing fields, and I think they did use it once. There's a funny story about Armstrong flying out to one of the dry lakes with Chuck Yeager: seems both Armstrong and NASA insisted that a particular dry lake was actually dry, while Yeager insisted that it was not, as he had lived in the area on/off for many years, and knew the terrain fron countless hiking trips. Armstrong decided to land their T-33 on the lake bed in question, and the plane sank into the mud underneath the surface! It was hours before somebody found them, and its rumored that Yeager was laughing for most of the time.

You need to continue down the road to Caliente NV. They have a train station and interesting parks. The Mormans won't let any new businesses in the area ( you don't want evildoers around) . But the do host a bike ride once a year. Lots of secrets in this town.
Alamo, been thru there around 50 times, and even stayed one night at the same motel as they stayed at. and they do have a nice cafe, but might of been closed due to CV19 had a good mex dinner and great cream pie.
Love the" R Place" gas station food more than I should... as that specific place is nostalgic for being the first pit stop on many family trips to my FAVORITE TOWN EVER, ELY... taquitos from that gas station, are the same as every frozen and microwaved gourmet grub anywhere else.. but to us, it was MUCH MORE!! love it ! I have my suspicions, and I am dying to be right on who it was, and will be so stoked to hear from you !! I have many stories, and memories from back then! These days, all the "Law Enforcement Rangers" are rookies, to sayvthe least... I'd have never imagined wishing we had at LEAST one of the old school guys around the park... it just seems so chaotic with such young. inexperienced people being the ones to keep shit 💯... lol.ok, that went on and on.. if you would, could you maybe enlighten me, with a description of the dude who caught/busted your shoot?? We broke down while pulling our fifth wheel towards Las Vegas when our truck radiator overheated. We stayed the night at the little rv park behind the grocery/convenience store in Alamo!! And have limped it to Las Vegas! Alamo is an interesting area and it's got nice people!!

@@jimz68 I guess they quit because of the corona virus. They were doing videos about unsolved murders and such, but I don't think they are even doing that any longer.
There is also a lot of mystery surrounds the town of Rachel. I can spend days around that little place you can hear the planes taking off from Area 51.
That store in Alamo is a life saver while out on motorcycle trips!
Best store in town!
First time I went into the store I was amazed, there's the front part which is typical but back part is huge, they have booths and on-site food too!!
Or even just when passing through, in a car.

RIP EWU crew, used to like those guys.
Yeah, what happened to them?
