This is a musical I saw as a child and shared with my mother. I love it and have seen it countless times. I never get tired of it and pretty much know every line. It's in my top five favorite movies.
Thanks so much for posting. Renting the movie tonight to watch with a friend who had never heard of the story. She's a romantic and think she'll love it.
Loved the film, loved the dancing, its silly I know, but if your newly in love, it's a nice film to watch, even if it doesn't last, it reminds me of someone I very much loved!!!! 🐕🐕🐕🐕
Qui
I’ve theorized that maybe Jeff stayed in Brigadoon too. We don’t see him leave after Tommy runs into town. Jeff didn’t have a happy life in New York any more than Tommy did. He genuinely enjoyed himself during “Go Home with Bonnie Jean,” and the return of Brigadoon has finally solidified his belief in the town. A person can stay if they love someone IN Brigadoon enough, and Jeff clearly cares for Tommy enough to fly all the way back to Scotland with him even when he expected nothing to be there. I think it was intentionally left ambiguous as to whether Jeff followed Tommy across the bridge or not.
Good point about the ambiguity of the ending. But I've always believed it important that he DOESN'T cross that bridge one more time. Important that their fates be starkly contrasted. He must carry the great 'What If' in his heart, the rest of his days. Always trying to convince himself he made the right choice, and knowing that when Brigadoon returns, he will be long dead.

Maybe Jeff stayed too. The return of Brigadoon solidified his belief in it. He had a much better time during the Bonnie Jean number than he ever had in New York, where he was clearly miserable. In the bar at one point he brought up Brigadoon even when Tommy wasn’t around, so the place did still have a hold on him too. And he cared for Tommy enough to fly all the way back to Scotland with him; perhaps this qualified as him loving someone in Brigadoon enough to stay.
There are many looking for Brigadoon but VERY few can EVER find it!

I saw it as I kid, too. 😊
The story and musical score are magical and so beautiful.
Kelly and Charisse made it a classic
"If two people love each other deeply, anything is possible.Even a miracle.💙💙
One of the best musicals ever made.

“There must be a lot of folks out there, searching for a Brigadoon”
In my opinion, they wrote two of the most beautiful fantasy musicals Camelot is the other.
Your forgetting My Fair Lady a Blockbuster Musical
My fair lady is a classic but it’s not fantasy
I'd also add "My Fair Lady."
A truly underrated classic ❤️❤️
Love this movie ❤
Now THAT is how you make an ending!
Cyd doesn't walk - she glides.
If I ever find this place I won't be back.
Take me and my dogs with you, when you go please!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
A Channel 5 Movie Club Classic!!! 💘
How I wish I could find a Brigadoon.
Back when Hollywood made movies that weren't shit.

On the stage... it is magic... I know.
Did you film this with an egg cutter or how do you manage to get a quality like this?!
And he didn’t say goodbye to his friend.
Yeah. that kinda hurt

Uh oh...."Brigadoon 2: Jeff's tale!" 🤣🤣🤣
Brigadoon is coming back 2054.
You have a valid point .
I'll be 98. Hope to God I make it.
Van had to go home by himself. Kelly could have at least said good-bye...........
Why has no one made movie about Jeff(Van Johnson), the cynic who was a witness to the miracle of Brigadoon? What happens to him? Just saying!
I have thought about this, and he will be charged with murder, or be confined to a “hospital”.

@@12classics39 I like that thought!
Brigadon't.
Sort of blue........
If you don't get goosebumps at her entrance, then go watch some other crappy1980s musical. They will NEVER make them like this again.
What happened to the sound?
Outrageous, they stole this idea from Schmigadoon! ;)
In a couple of months he'll start missing Jane. Men are fickle.
Gene's character sure is
You should see his character in An American in Paris. Ugh.
Can we send Hillary Clinton to Brigadoon?
For ever??
Oh my, why would you wish such hell on such nice people?"
Lord! Politics freaks
@@Snipewoods69 yes, really! No politics here, please. There are plenty of places for political commentary.
Yes and she can take trump and his trumpians with her!!
