    Great tools, I have them all.
    But I don't recommend using the step cut cable shears for bicycle cables. Do not cut steel is mentioned on the handle of the tool. If I remember you have the right tool for this, the wire rope cutter that you compared to the channellock. If you don't want to ruin this cable shears just use it for copper and aluminum conductors.

    I was an MLRS crewman back in the day. I was the first level maintenance for the hydraulics that power the Launcher Loader Module (LLM). As such I was issued a pair of soft jaw pliers (kinda like the Knipex), we all called them "Sweet Lips". Our main purpose for having those was for cable/hydraulic connectors. All of My issued tools for that role were pretty quality, probably the most expensive tool box I've ever had to sign for.

    I just learned a couple of months ago that Knipex is only Made in Germany. They only have Factorys in Germany, about 1500-2000 People work there. I was highly impressed as i heard of it, because lot's of German Brands like Wiha, Wera, Metabo and so on all went along the way either went to the Far Asian Countries for Production or in the more Eastern EU-Countries.
    Really impressed by that, that they can still produce those Products with High Quality and High Production Cost, and they still are fairly priced i think. Unfortunately for you Guys, you have to pay The Taxes and stuff but i think they are totally worth the money

    Those soft jaw pliers are originally intended for round electrical connectors commonly found in Aviation. They are the best hands down compared to any other cannon plug plier on the market, due to the replaceable jaw pads and the long slim profile.

      Certain jaws are too soft, I had to get a firm jawed unit to loosen backshells without using waterpump pliers, ATI tool is another that have firm jaws. I looked up Crescent to see if they had firm jaws to replace the soft jaws, when they didn't i brought them home for plumbing.
      I have a hodgepodge of tools from Kobalt, Harborfreight, dremel, Snap-On, Cornwell, Ingersol-Rand, Knipex. It's a matter of Needs vs wants.

    The cobra 811150 is perfect for cannon plugs used in aviation. It's very easy to break those connectors using normal pliers. They are the best option available on the market.

    I forgot about the cable shears (95 12 200) I had them for a few years and my tools got stolen. I used to cut AL MC cable with them daily and they always remained sharp. Have to get my self another pair.

    I love the little Knipex BIX tubing cutter 90 22 10 BK - works better for cutting PP drain tailpiece pipe than anything else I've ever tried. It's niche, but I love not having to clean up the pipe when I cut it.

    I done mind the Knipex flush cutters but better ones for even less money out of Japan. I really like the soft jaw Cobras, I will order those, I've got regular Cobra in 5" "7 10" 12" & 16". I got the 16" in comfort grip which I don't mind too much.

    For the second soft jaw plier, how do you think it compares to cobras with the sold separate jaw covers? Great video as usual.

    I have bought the locking 250mm hose clamp pliers and had very high expectations. First, I would advise against getting the locking model; when you try to open it to grab it always locks in place, and its annoying to try to unlock it all the time. Spacewise, it is difficult to use on my Audi and in most cases the tool doesn't fit, where the standard cheap straight hose clamp tool fits. The knipex is very awkward to use due to cobra angle, even on hose clamps that are near the top of the engine.

    Maybe only missing the offset end cutters but that might be 2022. I went with the ips because I thought the soft jaw pliers might leave red or Blue marks and everything I work on is gray. Probably have to try them anyway. I bought 7 of the flush cutters because I have been looking for something that works like my tsonoda or snap on ones for so long

    Will the step cut also cut fencing? If not which tool do you think works best for that application? Something small like that.

    • @fuloplehel
      @fuloplehel Před 8 měsíci +3

      Hello, the stepcut is for copper cables or aluminum. Do not cut steel with this cable shears. For fencing I use the knipex cobolt. They have multiple versions, I have the 200 mm version. But the cobolt is available in 250mm or 160 mm. Doc mentioned cutting bicycle cables with this stepcut, but knipex also makes a tool for this, a wire rope cutter.
