Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water follows the journey of Jake Sully and Neytiri's newfound family. I preordered Avatar Collector’s Edition 4K , Avatar The Way Of Water Collector’s Edition 4K and Avatar 3D Blu-ray
There's no way we get an extended version of Way of Water until at least Avatar 3 has been finalized and released. For example, it's possible that some flashback scenes from Avatar 3 may end up as extended scenes in Avatar 2.
James Cameron already stated that the theatrical release WAS the extended version. I mean for him it makes sense, his earlier extended edition films would've all been deemed acceptable for theatrical release if they were made today, back then they forced more cuts so more screenings could be ran, so the extended cuts came later on home meida.
this makes me angry! it was THIS YEAR we got 4k versions of both movies, WHAT THE FUDGE, and now they releasing different ones!? Then what was the point of buying the previous ones!?!!!
Well, I know what im getting myself for Christmas. Gonna trade in my Bluray 3 disc set of Avatar along with the new 4K set released recently for this awesome 4 disc set, I only wish they released this version to begin with. Think I'll keep my 4K Ultimate Lenticular Edition of The Way of Water and pick up this new 4 disc set for the bonus material. I feel an extended edition of The Way of Water may be on the cards and I'm here for it.
I really wish they would've released this edition to start with too. It's stupid having to buy 3 versions of the same movie. Only to have them release a collectors edition that has all the stuff you wanted from the start 😔
@@finrod8432No kidding, I'm PISSED that I just fucking bought these films in 4K THIS YEAR, and there's now a new version with even more to it with the only real downside being the digibook packaging which is horrendous for discs.

Finally, I don't understand why it took them over a full year to release the 4k version of Avatar 1 after it came out in theaters. I've been waiting so long for this lol
It already came out on 4K bluray earlier this year, this is just to screw over people who just got that set cause they were actually paying attention.

I kinda hope ppl will repost the deleted scenes, the incomplete renders will be interesting to see, especially Neytiri with new scenes

Although I’m happy we’re getting a collector’s edition with more features, I don’t think I’m getting it on disc mainly because of the packaging.
Now if you’re a 4k film collector like me, you’d know that from the looks of these images of the collector's editions, these are the slip-out packaging that Walmart has currently been using to sell their own special 4k copies, and it’s the worst way to package a 4k disc!
Basically, you have to pull out the disc from these slips that contain them and they are not only annoying, but they also can damage the disc itself. Not to mention that you can get fingerprints on the disc which can sometimes cause the disc to be unreadable. I don’t know why they decided to use this type of packaging for these great films, but my best guess was so that they could save money.
I know most of you are probably still going to get these 4k collectors editions, and I can understand that. I just wanted to let you all know what to expect if you do decide to go ahead and buy these editions.
However I did see that they are releasing a Steelbook of the collector's edition of the first film, so I’ll be getting that, though I don’t know if they’ll be doing the same for The Way of Water.
Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing the extended version in 4K and the deleted scenes on digital.
Yeah, if I get these at all it'll be remove from packaging immediately and evacuated to cd jewel cases, but I hate spending a lot on collector's sets with nice looking packaging (even though the practicality sucks) just to have them all in jewelcases like I just bought bootlegs. Like tf, make some REAL packaging.
Be mindful to doublecheck whether or not the steelbook actually includes which versions of the film
@chrisjfox8715 There are no steelbooks for these, but if they were they'd probably be going for $55-60, at that rate I'd rather buy games than doube dip on these just to get the alternate cuts of Avatar on 4K and bonus features for Way of Water.

For $45...and it's all slot packaging. Barf. All those bonus features better be on the digital copy for that price cause look how deep those disc slots are, they'll be scratching the hell out of the discs.
Well and you think you have all the movies XD I hope they release them here in Germany so that I can buy them somehow. Because right now in December where really everything comes, like the figure and the game the colelctors edition etc.... it really doesn't fit anymore 😅

I skipped the last 4K of Avatar, it seemed kind of bare bones but I did get a steelbook of Way of Water. I may have to get both of these, that’s a lot of special features plus the extended cut of the first movie. My only complaint is there’s no Way of Water extended cut.
Do we know if this version of Avatar is the enhanced version they played in Theaters before Way of Water came out?
The 4K release of the first film that released earlier this year is based off the re-release. I imagine this one is too, just different artwork slapped on the disc and including the special and extended cuts on it, if they got the 4K treatment outside of being on the same disc is unknown.

1:45 Is it even confirmed that the alternate cuts got the 4K treatment or is it just the Bluray Extended Collector's Edition disc from 13 years ago with some new art slapped on it with the 4K disc from earlier this year for the theatrical cut and 2 bonus discs?

So, anyone actually get these fucking things or were they canceled? Cause everybody was out of stock AT opening, YESTERDAY. Even Amazon didn't have them at all, then they removed the pages entirely, like, was this shit a prank or what?
