This Live version always astounds me... To hear this aria in the middle of a Metal Concert, and to see this screaming Metal crowd in a complete silence...
It is really funny, that Metal lovers can appreciate classical music more, than vice versa .
I am not kidding, I have seen grown Metalheads cry (present company included) over this song and presence of those two goddesses!!!

Hi Rachael, I think you will like this beautiful ballad from EPICA, this is from a concert earlier this year in Amsterdam, the three Cello players from Apocalyptica joined them on stage for this one, it's beautiful and Simone sounds incredible 🙃

I occur to, but the nicest thing about that song is, it’s available in four versions. Together with Apocoliptica, acapella, and live in Chili and as studio recording. They are all beautiful
European metal fans just seem to accept and embrace the Opera and classical genre of music within the metal concert

I was in tears listening to this the first time, the audience were sooo respectful of their performance!
I would love to hear them sing The Flowers duet, I think it would suit them very well! Floor did a really good job of singing the lower range of her Mezzo voice and keeping it light, and Simone wow what a performance from someone who is 3 months pregnant!!!

What is also amazing is the fact that this is a metal concert and the song is classical in nature.
The fact that this is acceptable in a metal concert gives you an idea how highly intellectual the audience and metal music is and how close metal is to classical music in general.
Most metal heads really appreciate really good music, music with feelings, emotions and not just a simple pop song.

Floor is just so awesome and humble personality
That stood out to me the 1st time I watched this. I think it shows how professional and respectful she is when she thanks him.
Love that she curtsies, and he bows in response.
She always does. The end of Ghost Love Score at Wacken, she points to Jukka, she does Energise Me with the Red Limo String Quartet and she stands to the side so the audience can see everyone. These moves are what make her one of the classiest entertainers to take the stage.
Have you noticed that Floor lets Simone the centre of the Spotlight. She stands on the side of it highlighting the Concert is from Epica.
And then Simone said FLoortje which means somegthing like "little Floor" :)

Hi Rachel I absolutely adore both Floor and Simone. The sacred music, is composed by Giovanini Battista Pergolesi, it's one of the most popular pieces of compositions. Stabat Mata dolorosa ( The Sorrowful Mother was Standing).
Pergolesi composed it during his final illness, of Tuberculosis. It's the first movement of 12 movement composition. It is said that he died the next day after completion 1736. Which includes a Salve Regina Setting. He was 26. As you said you can feel the Sorrow and pain in his work, that I can imagine. he must of felt it gives you some idea of what Mary must have felt as she stood watching Jesus being crucified. Great reaction.
The look on Simone's face when they hug right before the song ends is one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I think this was a big deal for them too.
They also sang Sancta Terra at this concert. In this song although they are both naturally sopranos, Floor took the alto part.

Yes, a hymn, from the 13th century, the music is by Pergolisi in the 18th century.
You have heard them singing together when you did EPICA Sancta Terra from this same 2013 concert. Those were the only 2 songs at that show that Floor joined them for.
You saw Sancta Terra with Floor and Simone,because i remember you melted when Floor leaned her head into Simones,and it had you dreaming of them being besties/best friends. And i told you that you were exactly right,it was Floors "shes my bestie" gesture towards Simone. They have gotten petnamed Wonderwoman (Floor) and Poison Ivy (Simone) because of theyr beauty and close connection. (Not that Wonderwoman and Poison Ivy would see eye to eye in the comics lol,its more a description of theyr beauty)

If anyone said to me that metal singers can't sing, all they do is yell, grunt, scream etc I would have to educate them by showing this video. I would then ask them to name some pop and rap singers who could do this. Watching them struggle to answer would be such fun.

Well, it is all said about this lovely and professional Performance of two great Singers and friends, paired with an really remarkable Orchestra. Just an side Note in this Vid you can really see how trained physically Floor is, just watch her trapez Muscles, some WWF Dudes would kill for them. Sure outstanding Talent but also so much Practice and Training, to perform on this Level.

"Stabat Mater Dolorosa" = "Stood the Mother, full of grief.........." sung completely in Latin, the hymn of the Virgin Mary's sadness at Jesus's crucifixion......Pergolesi knew he was dying when he composed this piece at age 26.....very well known in the classical repetoire, originally for 1 soprano, 1 alto and a 4 piece chamber accompaniment.........props to the orchestra and choir.....

On the earlier Epica albums, Simone sings almost exclusively in opera style. Some good videos to check out are "Cry For the Moon" and "Consign to Oblivion." Floor does some very beautiful classical singing on the Revamp song "Precibus." Unfortunately, there's no good video for that one.

The complete weird oddity of two Nordic metal singers doing a hymn in the middle of a metal concert is fascinating.
I can’t remember the last time I heard Beyoncé and lady Gaga do a duet like this. Hehe
