Many of the actors in The Breakfast Club were known as the Brat Pack. They were just basically the people who starred together in some of the most famous teen movies in the 80's. Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Anthony Michael Hall and Demi Moore were known as members of The Brat Pack.
What a frackin revelation captain obvious
Ryan Michaelangelo Favale jeez, no need to be a jerk about it.
Yeah I love fun facts like that but I really disliked this movie
A take off of the Rat Pack of the 1960's
@@tinhead9246 I dont understand the hype as one of the best 80's movies. First time i watched it and thought it was bad
Gotta love the 80's. It was the first decade that I can remember in full, and the 90's was the last. Anything after that hasn't been worth remembering.
You know buddy you are absolutely right 100%.
OMG, I thought it was just me.
xxoxia I think after the 90s everything went down hill.
WELL SAID!
@@rbennett But you whiteys wont even think about why we are where we are. Cause that be racism...
Regardless of your personal feelings about this movie, you cant deny that it was one of many rare films that defined youth in the 80's.
The simplicity of the 80's will never be duplicated.
“One of the many rare films...” what?
@@ericallen7112 Simplicity compared to now. At the time though it was hi-tech.

St. Elmo’s Fire is definetly the ultimate coming-of-age drama about friendships and life after university, going into the professional and adult world.
Which was incredibly unrealistic! Who got an apartment like the one Ally Sheedy & Judd Nelson had right out of college (unless mommy and daddy paid for it!)! Ha!
RedLikeWine IKR? And in Georgetown, D.C. no less. 😂
I thought it was boring af
@@RedLikeWine Well, it was the 80's.
Boomers had
"The Big Chill",
We had
"The Breakfast Club"
And
"St. Elmo's Fire".
Same-same.
I just graduated college so this movie definitely resonated with me, from the girls, to finding a job, to maintaining my friendships. One of my favorite 80's movies for sure!
Agree it's great
Whoever hated dis movie is 2 young 2 understand life dats my opinion
@@franklinsmith2808 Yeah it's basically about being a social worker and dealing with poor people on welfare SUCKS LOL!!
Does Rob Lowe ever age?
Scientists are looking into it...
your only as old as you feel, that's why he feels minors
My future husband? No.....
Mmm don’t think so
LITERALLY! (yes)
One of my favorite movies. Never understood why the critics disliked it so much.
When I was growing up, I used to love watching the critics talk about movies, like Siskel & Ebert. It is still interesting but now I see them as more being just opinionated rather than an authority as to what is a good or bad movie. I mean, they often disagreed with each other, so that tells you either can be wrong. For some movies, they just couldn't comprehend or understand it. I still love listening to them, and they make for good conversation.
I miss da good old days siskel and ebert debating about movies😢 I wish we could turn da hands of time back just 1 time 2da good days wen people and family and friends genuinely loved each other
Andrew McCarthy is the best thing that ever happend to earth.. for real
yes, Andrew McCarthy was so sexxy hott💦💦So was Rob Lowe♡♡
Always thought that ladies would prefer Rob Lowe instead him
Rob lowe was hotter.
I love Andrew, he is ... Everything ❤❤❤
I loved this movie. I'm 16 and my mom introduced me to these amazing 80s movies.
And now at 25 do you still love them?
I'm only 13 and my mom showed me The Outsiders, The Breakfast Club, and Some Kind of Wonderful. She then showed me this movie and I fell in love with all of these movies!!!!! I also fell DEEPLY in love with Rob Lowe and Judd Nelson!!!!!!! They are so hot!!!!! I always tell my parents that I wish I lived back in the 80's . Eerybody who did live in the 80's is ssoooooo lucky!!!!!!;))
I was only 5 when this was released but I love it. All the central actors are now in their 50's! A stark reminder that we all get older and edge toward a grave, regardless of whether you have £5 million in the bank or just £5.
Misanthrope Cutler i was 4 or 5 and didnt even see this movie til 1998
get older with £5 mil sure beat the hell out of getting old with £5.
The chemistry in this trailer is so much better than all the shows on Netflix. I'm 34 and ashamed to admit that I've yet to watch this movie (will later tomorrow) but the trailer is oozing with chemistry.
ever since Pretty In Pink i've fallen in deep love with Andrew McCarthy! so excited to see this!
Rest in Peace Joel Schumacher.
Makes me sad when I think about childhood in the eighties. Everyone seemed so much happier and outgoing. People were not lookibg for a reason to be offended, people had actual human interaction, and seemed to generally enjoy life so much more. This was the last truely stress free decade.
I agree and no phones no dare I say CZcams lol no anything but REAL LIFE
Andrew McCarthy's smile is just incredible!
all of my favorite actors in an amazing film im so happy yet sad at the same time
It's probably because you're feeling old :/
vademon28 I'm actually really young! Just grew up with 80's films because of my parents (:
God I miss the 80s...
Hop into a Delorean and hit 88 mph !
The Retro Geek Copy that.
U and me both
So glad i had such a cool mom show me all these older movies, sleepless in seattle, serendipity, breakfast club, pretty in pink, etc awesomeeee
When this movie came out in the mid-80's I was 12 yrs old or so. It made little sense to me then. Then I re-watched it as a then 23 year old graduating college in a semester and it taught me the harsh lesson that real life is harsh. I have found now that what the characters experienced as twenty somethings just out of school, falling in love, getting their first "real" jobs and living on their own is something I struggled with--friends can go their separate ways and though you may keep in touch it is not the same as it was in the college days.
i'm only a three month old fetus but i prefer movies from the 80s
same
+Nissim Levy It's funny because Bender is now a straight-laced Republican.
Back in my day we had to walk 3 miles for good Wi-Fi in the snow!
🤣🤣🤣
+1
Gosh, I really miss this movie! It evokes the 80s so much. Majority of the lead casts went on to become big stars. Not to mention Andi McDowell who only played support in this movie.
This was truly the A-List of young '80s actors of the day. The Brat Pack.
This young and magnetic talented Judd Nelson remains legendary
He has the X factor
st elmos fire blows my mind......best film ever! Andrew Mccarthy is a LEGEND
Yeah there's something about this movie that makes me watch it at least once a year since it came out.
This film showed how much more sociable people were back then. No internet, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. People talking and truly getting to know each other. More of a wholesome time of being people not drones. No electronic distractions or 24 hour media dictating our worlds. The 80's were the last time of true social connection before the dawn of social media. Good movie, St. Elmo's Fire, classic!
MrOcto13 great analogy
MrOcto13 great analogy
MrOcto13 When we really were people and not extensions of our devices. Well said MrOctoc, well said
+MrOcto13 Does not compute. Read error b.
Ahhh the classic youtube "x was better in the 19x's, not like today where everything is awful" comment. Only made all the more hilarious spewed by someone who wasn't even alive at the time they're trying to glorify.
+MrOcto13
And it showed what A-holes people are, when they're stuck in stupid self-centered cliques!
I’m proud to say I was made in the 80’s! Knowing that gives me peace about ageing!
I remember not liking this movie when it came out. I was in my last year of college like the actors portrayed in the movie. Over time, I have come to appreciate it much more. I realize now that my initial dislike of the movie stemmed from my own personal insecurities as it related to the difficulties I had in my social life. The brat pack made it look so easy. And yet - I knew many people at the time that were just like them. I guess thats why it strikes a chord. I definitely had my struggles back in 1985 - but if I could go back even for a day I would do it in a heartbeat. Funny how that works..
I’m actually fascinated by this movie even though I can’t stand it. At the time I was about 8 years older than the characters in it and I thought they were the kind of people I would avoid at all costs. And by the way none of them had any sense of style or taste in fashion, music, or even day to day living. The inevitable result I’m sure of having doofus fathers and snit mothers - still going on today of course.
I have no idea why some disliked Lowe's performance in this. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Stroya Agree with you
I agree too. I think he was even better in 'About Last Night' and Demi was his girlfriend in that one.
There is nothing wrong with his performance. The whole movie is stupid. 🤣
Born in 1979 and grew up through the 80s and everything was awesome,The Breakfast Club,St Elmos Fire,Young Guns,The Outsiders,The Warriors,Robocop,Terminator,Madonna and Belinda Carlysle and Jennifer Rush in the charts...the good old days.
Do u remember at da close range with Madonna and Sean Penn Great movie
St Elmo's Fire is the kind of movie you can't forget. Because it deals with a an unique and precious period haunted by kind and warm emotions. Suddenly appears the characters on screen and you feel like you already know them for some mysterious reasons. That's the real magic of St Elmo's Fire... Okay Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy were all extracted from the incredible Breakfast Club but they still sound like our old friends. Deep inside, we desperatly want to be with them, celebrating, loving and struggling for a better existence in the eighties. Breakfast Club left us joyful, moved but in the meantime sad because forever ignorant of what will be the next Mondays of Claire, Andrew, Brian, John and Allison and St Elmo's Fire provides the same kind of mixed emotions between joy and sadness... 80's were magic but not everlasting. And as Arcadia sang it : Goodbye is Forever and Ever and Ever and Ever... Maybe in an other space and time we will return to Shermer School or St Elmo's Bar :')
This is why I love the movie. No matter how much movies I'll watch in a lifetime, this is will always be the Best Movie I've ever seen. All the statements you made in that comment are the reasons I love it
Gaaaaaaaayyy !!
This comment was so well written I read it 3times. The fools who made fun of u r clearly kids
Out of all of those 80s classics this is the one I could never really get into and I don't know why.
i rented the video tape soon after the movie came out and wasn't overly impressed as i remember
I couldn't relate to it at the time because I was only 16 when it came out. However, several years later when I was almost out of college, I could relate to it. The only thing is that it was unrealistic in many aspects. No one gets an apartment like Ally Sheedy & Judd Nelson had in this movie (unless mommy and daddy pay for it!). And they were far too young to worry about getting up in the morning to get to work. I never worried about stuff like that in my early 20s. Never even worried about it in my late 30s. Makes me think some middle-aged person wrote it because they were behaving more like middle aged folks than early 20-somethings fresh out of college. I mean, c'mon! LOL But, in my opinion, it really was a great movie.
@@rosselliswilkinson It did feel fake. Never finished the movie so I though it was stupid. Friend set felt the same way and told me to watch the whole thing...well, it got a little better, started to be fake again, but the ending made it kind of real life
This film had me realize how beautiful Georgetown is.
My fav movie!
I'm 52 and saw this in the theater 1985!
i guess you're 21 now. old enough to have a drink. wanna rewatch this movie at my place, get a bottle of gin and a pizza and pretend we live in the 80's? fun fact. i was born in '85, the year this came out;)
Alex Shiva Botez 🤣🤣u smooth
I was 16 in '85 and I agree
They aired this movie last night on the Vh1 classic channel.. I've only seen half of it once, so I actually got the chance to watch the whole movie last night though. :) I wish I can go back and time and live in this era. So fun! I was born in 89, but still..LOL
The 80s movies , the great music, and the clothes and great hair ...❤❤❤
And the brat pack ofcourse 👌
i just watched the breakfast club... and this would be the next.... today's films are really nothing compared to the 80's... CLASSICS!
where does time go?
sigh
I was 16 yrs old when this movie came out , it was so awesome then.
TheAgentAssassin i wouldve been 4 or 5
One of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm addicted to this
Can you imagine being part of the Brat pack. Epic Era. I miss the 80s and John candy
I did not like this movie at first, but this is a type of movie that just grows on you, and now I love it.
I still believe that "Reality Bites" will suck if I see it again.
One of my favorite movies ever. Big crush on Rob Lowe growing up
I can't believe how badly this movie was reviewed, i adored it! Wanted to be Jules, copied her wardrobe, wanted her Jeep, wanted to live in Alec's cool loft... LOVE this movie still. Such a great time to grow up with this flick and of course everything John Hughes even touched!! :)
This came out just a few days before I was born! Back to the Future actually did hit theaters on the same day I was born! lol 85 was a good year. ;)
I'm 17 and I watched St. Elmo's Fire today and loved it! Thought it would be awesome since I love the breakfast club, it's one of my favourite movies. This shows that some 27 years later, new generations of teens can still enjoy 80s films. They sure don't make movies like this anymore!
About four years ago :) I have an older brother and he introduced me to TBC when I was about 14. But I grew up listening to saturday night jukebox which plays all the best 80s hits, so I've always loved the 80s.
I just watched this the other night on Hulu. It never gets old!
movies of the 80's are just soo great.. secret admirer and girl just wanna hav fun movie are unforgetable also. just like this one.
Can't wait for this to be released!! xx
What?......really?
Laura Pratt ? It's been out since 1985, thirty years! One of the greatest 80s movies ever. Surely you jest.
apfelprincess45 God, I had no idea. How would I ever know that from looking at this video?
Laura Pratt Hehehe because it says it's from 1985 would be a clue perhaps.
Ahh Demi Moore at 23 years old. Soooo gorgeous xx
I was born in 1978. The 80s are my only (lost) homeland.
Raskolnikovtzs 79 here!
i only came her for bender
i only came here for allison.

Re-enacting this movie in our high school play, I'm Kirby and watching this movie after practicing so much is so odd because I recognize all the stuff from our play (along with the stuff we changed)!
I've seen The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science so many times, but I have never seen St. Elmo's Fire. I'm about to rent it on CZcams and watch it. Im excited. If it's like the other movies than I'm gonna love it!!!
PLEASE NAME MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS FROM THE 80S!
rob lowe swear never get old good genes
I'm an 80's movie fanatic, and wasn't even born then. Still have to wait till I get older to see this movie :/
Why would a u have to wait till your older to see this movie lmao
It was my coming of age movie...I was 16 and looking forward to all the drama this movie showcased,
Bring back the 80's. ♥
LOL, those are the ONLY two words needed here!!!!
Brat Pack: Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, James Spader, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore and Robert Downey, Jr, Anthony Michael Hall
80s was the best decade ever. America had its style and everything.
Bring back the 80's...........I was 20 when I saw this movie, now I'm nearly 48! Time flies.
RIP Joel Schumacher.
Saw this when it came out at the Drive in. Classic movie!
The clothes, the hair, the lifestyes !...There was nothing like the 80's...sady it won't ever be again
I know ! Best decade ever !!
I loved this movie as a teen back in the 80z 😃
I miss the 80's and the Brat Pack.
0:58 My gosh ... Judd Nelson ... MY HEART IS THUMPING OUT OF MY CHEST,
1:21 Rob Lowe... MY HEART !!!
I was born in '98 and I love this movie
I still watch this movie everytime it is on late night cable. I don't know if it is because it's a good movie, or just a chance to see Ally Sheedy in her youth. I was so in love with a girl in the early 80's that looked so much like Ally in this movie. Over 30 years later, and I still am in love with her, yet haven't seen her in 30 years. Damn, what happened to the time, seems like just a little while ago... man, getting old sucks. I'll be watching this movie again when it pops up. Missing the 80's bad!
Whos here watching 2021? The best 80s movie ever made, fantastic!
I'm a 20 yr old guy who love this type of movies ❤ i wish i was a teenager in this era
It was pretty cool. 😊
Miss my Awesome 80sTeen years so much! The Music, The Movies & life in general...SO much better! I loved this Movie when it came out. A Brat Pak Classic!
How have I never seen this movie. I'm a huge 80s buff, defnly watching it this weekend
Forever young , is great the 80
We had it all.
But we squandered it, we let it all slip away, thinking it was always going to be like this.
andrew mccarthy
Aboogla Aboogla ah ah ah!
This is the best Movie I've ever seen.
As someone who came of age; in this era, I thought these movies were ridiculous. I've run into a half dozen or so of my classmates ( I graduated from Penn State in 1987) and I have contact with only one of them through FB. My first year, post graduation was absolute hell on earth for me. I lost my job, the woman I was dating broke up with me, and I couldn't find a job to save my life. I suspect that was the real world for many people my age ( I was twenty-seven, at-the-time. My world wasn't filled with endless parties, one thousand dollar suits or loft apartments. I'm retired now and my life has dramatically improved. I said goodbye to the eighties on New Years Day 1990 and I am a better person for it.
All we need is a Delorean and back to the 80s.. when we really have a conversation with our friends and not this fucking cellphones 24 hours.
when does it come out? i dig the retro 80s vibe.

next year !1!!1!!! can't wait !1!11!!11!!1!1!!11!!1!1

Thank God I grew up in the early 80s in my hometown Washington DC. The culture was cool and the punk rock scene was fantastic. The bayou club and the 9:30 club on F Street.
the best movies came from the 80's!
The People who worked on the Movie were as "Famous" as the folks who starred in it. Joel Schumacher got his first big Break working with the Designer Roy Frowick aka "Halston" who was the first Designer to die of AIDS. David Foster was on his way to Superstar Status. It's amazing to know that if you told any DJ not to play any Music that he produced or Diane Warren Wrote the Station would be bankrupt. No Whitney Houston (RIP), Hall & Oates, Chicago (with our without Peter Cetera), Toni Braxton, Nathalie Cole, Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John, Michael Buble, and countless others.
I was born in the wrong decade. The 80s is where it's at. Better music, better movies, and better style.
I was born in late 80s but still find this movie amazing. I love the music. Though this movie was not released in Korea, Love Theme by David Foster is pretty famous.
This movie was better than I thought.
I love Andrew McCarthy and I love this movie
We have better phones than the 80s and that´s pretty much it on our favor
I can't believe you missed out ANDREW MCCARTHY the HOTTEST OF THEM ALL!
this is the best film I've ever seen :') I was born in the wrong era. bring me back to the 80's please :)
St. Elmo's fire is named after St. Erasmus of Formiae (also called St. Elmo, the Italian name for St. Erasmus), the patron saint of sailors. The phenomenon sometimes appeared on ships at sea during thunderstorms and was regarded by sailors with religious awe for its glowing ball of light, accounting for the name.[3] Because it is a sign of electricity in the air and interferes with compass readings, sailors also regarded it as an omen of bad luck and stormy weather.
Can I say really depressing upsetting and above all a really dark depiction of what awaits the average person upon leaving University and incredibly enough still mangoes to be a really good film that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Elmo! ELMO! What did I tell you about playing with fire?
Thanks for the info, I never knew that! :)
I grew up in the 80's and I somehow missed this movie..heard the music from it though. I missed alot of bands and don't remember why..I was downloading my favorites recently and came across a ton of bands I didn't remember. I felt so stupid cuz you would think I would of listened to everyone. But,new bands were coming out almost every week so I can see why i missed some.
