They didn't come with the same teachings. Earlier scriptures taught that Paradise will be on earth. Earlier scriptures taught that the soul is mortal. Earlier scriptures taught that we need a mediator before God and man. Earlier scriptures taught that man should marry one wife. Earlier scriptures taught that true worshippers shouldn't participate in war. Mohammed didn't teach none of these.

This would of been a finisher:
Ask him if he believes in the day of judgment. If yes, remind him that the prophets that passed that message on from Allah never mentioned the exact date (from the Quran OR the old and new testament) yet he accepts that prophecy. Therefore the exact date is not necessary for a prophecy to be valid and not a criteria.

From ’Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas, who said, I heard the Prophet of Allaah ﷺ say, *“In the last [part] of my nation there will be men who ride on means that resemble saddles. They will alight at the doors of the mosques. Their women are clothed but naked. On their heads are [what appears to be] like the humps of [lean] camels. Curse them for they are cursed. There's almost 8 billion people in the world, so whenever something important happens one of us is bound to have predicted it!
