    Hearing this I want to go to the Whiskey Marketing School. I have no justifiable reason to do so for my career or otherwise, but the appeal to join a community like this is strong.

      @zackzenron Před 6 měsíci +3

      It's well worth it. And besides, you never really know where your career/life will take you.
      I was an attorney when I went to Somm level 1. Since then, I'm still practicing law, but I'm consulting with bars and distilleries, teaching classes and leading whiskey tastings, and working at a distillery making Bourbon. The community is always there and supportive despite all of us being from so many different walks of life.

      Interesting! Because I have interest in whiskey all my life but am not a drinker. But the science behind it interests me.

    I was taught in a similar fashion in culinary school. We where told to always be training our replacement, to share our knowledge with everyone willing to learn. I love the thought of a shepherd. I’ve been eyeing a bottle of that Yellowstone single malt for months, I think you may have talked me into finally pulling the trigger on it.

    The idea of being inclusive coupled with service is the key to success in life. The fact that you have channeled that concept into your school is truly wonderful. Imagine how grand life would be if we all strive to be shepherds in our chosen path in life. Thanks Daniel for another inspiring story. Cheers.

    The somm community is amazing. Serving is very important and I think quite the passion for most of us in the somm community. Also either my bottle is bad or I just don't like large scale American single. I love craft American single malt but every huge distillery single malt I have tried was not for me. No idea why but so far that has been my experience. Cheers

    I Love this story, it makes me want to go to the Whiskey Marketing School! I love the approach you are trying to teach Daniel! I’ve visited the distillery a few months back for a quick bottle pick up and let me tell you the property was beautiful, as I was just merely looking and sight seeing I was welcomed by a Fellow Bastard and was asked if I wanted to join them to walk around the property where the distillery and the vault side was, and I gladly joined, even tho I was shy and a little star struck just being there he made me feel welcomed into the community! I’m really bad with names so I already forgot his name once I left 😂

    After a commercial for Yellowstone I picked up a bottle of their bourbon. Didn't really care for it, too young and burny for me. It did make for a good old fashioned though :) Huh, wow. I REALLY love the idea of having previous students come back to serve. That is really neat and great on multiple levels. Well done.

    I swear this is so damn awesome.. Wish there was such a concept of a program in Romania, cuz yeah, our concept of community is kinda shot to pieces by our lovely history with Communism. I'ts not about the money, its not about anything else, kist kinda wish the idea of a community seen as this interpretation would pop up in my area of interest in my own country.

    Question: Is it really single malt? Column still using malted barley.... Scotland would call that.... Hint: Loch Lomond

    • @strictlydiesel8305
      @strictlydiesel8305 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yes it's a single malt.
      Single malt only means malt whiskey from a single distiller.
      The pot still and malted barley designation is part of the UK Scotch Whisky Regulations.
      This isn't claiming to be Scotch.

    • @eugenenassif
      @eugenenassif Před 6 měsíci

      @@strictlydiesel8305 I think you're missing the point. This goes FAR deeper than Yellowstone and I'm not calling it scotch. If the US is going to really join the world of malt and everyone else (scotland, france, india, thaiwan, china, japan) universally accept and agree to one definition of single malt, don't you find it a little concerning that we fundamentally don't follow those rules?
