Well Taeyong and Mark are in the spotlight of every title track and i think it's good 'cause they're the ones that atracts people the most. But in thos vid Johnny and Yuta got really good screentime though. You should listen to b sides tracks (if you didn't do it already) you can feel that other members shining too

People need to hear another side tracks of them, it will shows that the line distribution is actually fair enough. In almost all the title track ty n mark has more lines bc of the genre or vibes more like hip hop which is more suitable for them (rap thing). If we listen to another side tracks there are a lot songs that shows more vocal line members. So as a whole album its fair enough :)

They pushed taeyong in centre to attract nct to the public I got into nct becuz of ty as he caught my attention first then I started stanning him first in nct then I started stanning other memebers (just my opinion)

I noticed everyone else. Kept thinking "I don't want to see this guy, let me see the tall guy and the dude singing" (cherry bomb) I actually can't stand the way he dances. It's like no one has ever taught him proper posture and it drives me nuts. I get its a style, but you don't have to dance that way every dance. Each dance calls for a different style, so yeah. I agree SM needs to calm the TY and even dial back on the mark thing. To me this song is a hot mess. Taeil's note is the best part. Oh and alllllllll of Yuta's screen time and lines bc holy crap finally.

Edit: about WinWin, why he got few lines it is because his Korean is not yet perfect OK besides he's a lead dancer in NCT127. Their songs depend who fit the vocal. Remember most of NCT songs are Hip Hop so.

I don't have anything to say about TY and Mark, but I disagree with you about Winwin. He's been in in Korea for years now, and while his spoken Korean is not the smoothest, that's what it is, spoken. Learning specific Korean lyrics for the sake of singing is very different from normal speech, and he's definitely proven his vocal capabilities with his single amazing line in Chain. The boy definitely has the potential to hold a vocal position. I think you're underestimating his capability a little. NCT's music doesn't even have a fixed genre either. There's a lot of places where his voice could have been used in their songs. And using the "lead dancer" position as an excuse is not very effective. Just because you're a lead dancer doesn't mean that your contribution to the song is purely background sound. That's hardly fair. Besides, even after being called lead dancer, he barely has center time anyway. His share of lines is undeniably unfair, so please don't try to gloss over that. But we can't control it, SM does, so all we can do is wait and hope for something better for him in the future.

This one time the line distribution was decent but i agree with you on a high level, taeyong and mark get like 80% of the line distribution together most of the time and like, how hard is it to let other members shine instead of them for once ya know? The shouting near the beginning is known as a Haka. It's known as a ceremonial dance or challenge in Maori culture. It consists of vigorous movements & stamping of the feet with rhythmically shouted accompaniments. People in some sporting teams do it.
That ‘screaming’ at the start is called the haka, Māori’s perform this as war cries and other things. Sorry if my explanation isn’t that well! 😄

I really love every reaction that can feels their uniqueness instead pointed it as a weirdness. NCT did make a "different" songs, so if you never listen to their song you probably will never like any of their songs. I think that is what they're trying to do, they make US changed our mind about the kind of music THEY made. It really is just like the theme of simon says song itself, don't ever follow the whatever simon says a.k.a people says, just break the rules and shows people how cool you yourself are. And I'm so happy if people can appreciate that side of them more :)

Pretty sure the yelling part that scares you at the start is the Maori language, sounds like what you would normally hear from a haka. Was very random for me as well being a New Zealander and all xD

I agree with your "Taeyong, Mark, and friends" comment. As soon as you said that I was like, oh! that's a good description of it! I DO think they're line distribution has gotten better and their b-side tracks have better distribution than their title tracks. And Mark has been in 127, Dream, and U, so that automatically gives him more attention. I also think Taeyong is a main dancer, I could be wrong, but that would give him more reason to be towards the front during choreography. Most of the strict rap lines are just the two of them, too, so when a song has more rapping they are going to be heavily featured.
It'll be interesting as NCT as a whole gains members and more units are created to see how distribution works. Honestly, I'm worried about how SM will manage the members and this whole unlimited members concept with NCT. I know they are doing a China unit, which I'm excited about because Winwin is my bias and he barely gets lines.

@@alyxeon You're absolutely right. And besides, 1st and 2nd gen Kpop was not during the time when social media could be used to share and perpetuate opinions on music as easily. Saying that nobody complained is quite unbelievable and a very gross generalization too. Lines need not be equal, but every member of a group deserves a part that they can call their own and that fans can use to identify them. As members of a group, they deserve at least that, instead of being pushed into the background.

Taeyong, Mark, Jaehyun, Doyoung, and Taeil definitely get a lot of lines. There isn't really any valid excuse for why they get so many and other members get hardly any lines. When people complain, they complain because they want certain members to have the chance to shine. It's not about hating on or tearing down the other members cuz we know it's not their fault, so some of you don't have to get so defensive.
