- So we surprised you all yesterday with the news that we had just arrived in Tenerife. So up bright and early the next morning we head off out to explore around our hotel and the surrounding area. This is going to be fun!

Use the microwave to boil your water. No need for a kettle
I recommend buying a travel kettle as there are plenty of shops where you can pick one up cheap and when you go shopping for water it is better value for money to buy the really big 4 or 5 ltr bottles and use that to refill your bottle or the multi packs of the same size that is in your room, also check to see if the hotel has water dispensers so you can refill the bottle you were given
Mazzy warm your water in the microwave and add your coffee or tea and then your milk you don't need a kettle

The red trees are Poincianas. They grow beautifully here in Western Australia :)
Have you looked in all of the cupboards,drawers etc if yes and no kettle,what’s you’re hesitation,go down to reception and let them know you have no kettle in your room!,,,

We were in Los Cristianos and walked up to Las Americas every day it takes an hour but we loved it. We would have a walk around the shops or have a coffee or an ice cream but we mostly loved the walk, enjoy

When i go awày on holiday i always bring my travel kettle just in case they haven't got one because I like my coffee in the morning when i wake up the travel kettle are very lightweight
The north side is interesting and a different climate altogether,the original airport for Tenerife is there where still the biggest plane disaster happened in 1977 when two jumbo 747 crashed killing 583 people,also Santa Cruz has many old buildings and a great port where the ferries and cruise ships depart from…they also made many movies there #1 Clash of the Titans - 2010. This must be the most popular film shot in Tenerife. ...

The Canaries are just a few miles away from Morocco, and the Sahara desert, thats why its cool at night

No, not a baby palm. It is a Yucca tree which has been cut down and the new shoots are just coming out. We have many in our garden.

Pink ground level plant is frangipani., the baby palm trees are cordylines and the orange and red flowering trees are called flame trees x
I have yuccas too which are commonly mistaken for cordylines. They do look similar
There is dark sand in Aberystwyth but there is a lot of slate in the area. But U don't have to go far for crystal blue sea and sandy sand 😂

I microwave my water more often than not for tea and coffee. Give it a go.
The tree which has spread out along the ground is a Frangipani. We have them in all colours here in the tropics but they grow upwards like a normal tree. I have never seen ones which grow at ground level, very weird.
The tree you saw is a Flame Tree and after flowering produces those long seed pods.

You MUST drive up to Teide National Park. SUBLIME SCENERY. Just like Arizona & Utah. A completely different experience to the tatty resort sea fronts. When you get up there, take the cable car to the top

Orange flowered tree is Delonix regia, commonly called Flamboyant or Royal Poinciana. There are several varieties from red to orange to yellow.

Hi Mazzy and Dan. Lol must admit when i first saw the beach i was surprised, i didnt expect it to be volcanic sand but there again it is a volcanic island. Mazzy take it easy with your leg and when you get back to the hotel elevate it. Ask at reception if you can hire a kettle. My daughter adores palm trees so i always look for a place (hotel) where they have them lol. Take care x

Turkey isnt that cheap to be honest. We can only go in the school holidays due to work and school. Its costing us 4883.00 yes its 2 weeks all inclusive. This is the most we have ever paid in the same resort. Xx

Great looking apartment you don’t need a kettle just put your cups into the microwave with water. Then add your coffee when the water is hot.

Dan, the brightly coloured red and orange blossom trees are called 'Flambuoyant' or 'Flame Trees, or Royal Poinciana - they thrive all over the Canaries and other sub-tropical climates. You should deffo try Siam Water Park in Costa Adeje! Hope Mazzy's leg recovers and you can continue exploring the island x
Watched all the paphos vlogs as I'm going there in 2 weeks but seeing you go to tenerife has made me want to carry on watching as I was just there 1 month ago 😂

On the front there's 3 bars that do a € 1 pints, and there's a restaurant that does a €3.49 English breakfast .
I agree with others ask at reception, when I went to furventura there wasn’t a kettle in our room, I brought a travel kettle from one of those shops that sell luggage, etc. x
I'm biased, I prefer Lanzarote, even though I haven't been to Tenerife. Use the morning to explore the island in the car and sunbathe in the afternoon when it gets hotter. I believe there are also ordinary sand beaches; maybe someone in the comments can let you know where they are. Not sure about Tenerife but Lanzarote's weather this year has been very unusual but seems to have picked up!
Ask for a kettle at reception they may give you one and charge a deposit I had to hire one on my last holiday but you get your deposit back when you take it back at the end. It stops people taking them Enjoy your holiday x

The last plant you showed was a Frangipani. Beautiful flowers in a summer in winter they drop their leaves and it just has bare "branches" Nicely scented as well. I have a few in my garden here in OZ. All the best keep up the good work.🦘🦘🦘🐨🐨

If you want a great curry you need to be at tandoori hut there’s 2 one in las americas and one in los chrisianos harry and his family are from Birmingham

Hi Maz and Dan, I’ve been to Tenerife a few times and I thought i’de let you know seeing as you have a car, that Las America’s, Los Christianos and Costa Adeje are beaches as we know them (not black) and very clean it is also a hotter side of the island (I think) and you can walk along the promenade from one end to the other of all 3 places. I think you will like it, the shops are lovely too, Mazzy will like it. Also there’s a lovely place in Adeje called Otelo who do authentic canarie potatoes with fried chicken yum yum! Hope you go as would be lovely to see it again. Enjoy your holiday, what a surprise , I was so excited when we saw you were going away again lol ❤

The beach is volcanic sand, it’s not dirty 😅 I agree though it’s not as pleasant to look at as white sand. Fuerteventura is beautiful white sand. I hope Mazzy’s leg is ok xx

From one paradise to another! I love the place names like Los Gigantes and Charco El Diablo. Shame Mazzy's leg was painful, maybe just too much walking?
I'll be watching these closely when I also go on holiday next week, to another tropical paradise called Blackpool in Lancashire. Which one of us will have better weather?
Try speak as much Spanish as you can. It does not have to be good or perfect. The hosts the Spanish 100% appreciate any effort how ever small. It shows respect to them, bad Spanish is better than no spanish. I have lived here in spain for over 20 years.

Buy a reuseable bottle or a couple and refill from the water machine think of all the plastic you will save! Have a great holiday!
