Personally, I found it much better when there was only a 3ish 99s available in the first week. I found it much more enjoyable to spend months(s) boiling and grinding a team. Thus resulting in a full 99 by mid summer for a experienced/hardcore player. However, the improvements gameplay this year is well worth the changes in content.

Going to be honest, the game feels so different this year. And I LOVE IT! The fact the game is refreshed every 50 days keeps it different from the maddens and 2Ks. The game feels so much more fun because there is a purpose behind playing

I think you’re right about the timing. We won’t really know how good the year will be until season 3 when they phase out the S1 cards. So far, it seems like they’re aiming for a fresh approach though, which is cool.
How I feel, I’ve liked the feel of max cards to start, just depends on how well they keep this content up, but no matter what it can only improve or just feel the same as last year
I like the way the content is set up this year a lot. I think itll make grinding later on in the year more worth it, it increases the variety in teams and players drastically and It makes the beginning of the game more fun for me personally because you can use good cards already.
Have fun grinding team affinity in august for a 99 machado that was already in the game week 1

Every mlb Diamond dynasty got dry and boring after the 99s got released at the end when everyone has the same card, now they’re doing what makes the game dead in the first week
I havent been on the game yet, but I am loving that I will have so many 95-99s to go in my Cleveland team in the first 3 months. I also love the captains and charisma series
I feel as the year goes on there will be collections for 99 Core players that can be utilized in any season. Would make those players value higher because of it
i love it cause it keeps the content fresh. you’re always gonna get you what deserve when you grind and it forces guys not to use the same cards all year. every card gets a fair shot

I honestly haven’t had this much fun with a game in a very long time. I think each set will keep the cards fresh and honestly be it’s own grind each time a new set comes out
I think you're totally right about the timing in which we'll be able to actually see the changes. I agree with you where I see both sides of it but I think the Set rules really save this wave of content in 23 and they'll be really fun as they force everyone to change their teams and strategies.
I’m loving the change so far, being able to have a god squad in the first week of grinding makes the game so much more fun because you’re able to figure out what cards work for you early. I think it’s going to be interesting if the new set cards are going to be better than these and how it affects that wild card spot. I think all these changes are going to make collections more doable, content keeping fresh, and overall just giving us an almost endless supply of content to grind. Game feels fresh and new and I’ve been playing since launch and still have guys to push for

As someone who isn't very good at games like this and doesn't have the time or patience to get good I love that it's easy to get good cards, even if it's just for grinding against the CPU it feels like I've put together a God squad, whereas last year when I couldn't get a cracked team easily I lost enjoyment quickly.
I like the idea of playing with cards I’ve never used before, like I got the Rickey Henderson and Biggio and have enjoyed both
I thought about it and I do miss getting excited over pulling golds and live series diamonds at the beginning of the year but I do like that they’re at least trying to switch it up and I will never knock them for that. I’m definitely going to stay open minded to the new things but I agree that the season 3 shift will definitely be a big indicator on how we feel. As of right know tho, I’m loving the game and hoping it stays that way
I think that it’s an awesome change and I love that you can start the grind on day one and not be bored and have to wait for good cards to get released

As an offline grinder I appreciate it! I’m just glad they’re trying something new, and it’ll be curious to see how it changes when the other sets launch.
I dont mind it, especially because the team affinity and WBC cards can only be done through grinding. I have a ton of cards that i barely see content creators spending a ton of money on the game have. I think it provides a different dynamic that so far i like

on one hand i like the change with the 99s this early. its a completely different pace and i dont have to feel like im wasting time early on grinding bc the low diamonds will needed to be upgraded eventually. but on the other hand im worried ab how much faster the game could get boring. hopefully the latter doesnt actually happen
Mlb 22 was my first the show game and I loved it, but I started late so I never have those Lower overall cards on my team. Though I’m stoked to play this years game, I hate that I’m gonna miss the process of upgrading my lower overall squad throughout the year
I love the new set seasons it makes early game actually exciting and it will keep teams fresh and give people a reason to get on the game and grind for a limited time card

my favorite part of the game was being able to collect stubs and collect the live reward collection because it would have the best cards in the game. Now with 99s day 1, it kills the grind part and burnout is going to come a lot faster. Might as well play for a couple of months and move on to another game because what more do you have to gain from this version.
i liked starting off the year with golds and low diamonds. however i do like the WBC cards and program and feel like that is pretty cool
I think it's gonna be interesting to see how the sets work... bc it's gonna be like the first couple months of awesome content every few months making it like a new game every few months!!
I think this is fun of having 99 cards early in the game because I don’t think diamond dynasty ever made us have 99 cards early in the game but when the game goes along, we may be having lower 90 overall’s in lower 88 overall cards flashbacks come out and play. the player of the monthly’s awards comes out, and other programs come out. But I will enjoy using the 99 cards while we still have them until sets ends.
I love the early 99s and the ease of access to get most of them for people who don’t have a ton of time to get them

I love it. So much more to play for and it makes a even playing field. It used to be the only way to be good early was to put in 2000 dollars for collections, and if you didn’t you’d have a team full of 88-90 overalls. Nobody likes using bad cards that can’t compete against the big boys. I love this model, makes the game have so much life early
Personally I love the change. Allows for so many good cards throughout the year, especially early game, without having to limit the OVRs on them. By early July, most teams would change a lot anyways- and we will always have a wild card. There’s so many good options to use for our teams and I’m sure there’s so much more to come. I think people need to give it more of a chance!
I’m having a lot of fun this year so far, but we’ll have to see what seasons look like later in the year
I honestly think the sets and seasons is a really smart idea, because I’m guessing they’re find ways to keep cards from different sets relevant and when a new season starts everyone is gonna be put in the same spot with having to use new cards, it will help make more cards be used instead of one set god squad at the end of the year. Obviously there will be times where different sets can’t be used but there’s a better chance that cards from April will be usable in September, when in past games there was no way you could use April cards effectively.
I think the idea of sets and seasons is a good one, but this year with the WBC they kinda had their hand forced with high cards available early on. I want to see how it is implemented next year when they can slow burn it more.

I do like the 99s in the game. It’s more to grind for makes you wanna play more. I like that they are doing world baseball classic cards as well. But sds isn’t giving everyone maxed out stats so you’ll still be able to get better cards throughout the year.

I love the old way where you started with like set 1 being 95/97ish and the 99s coming later in the game around June
it seems like with the set cards it’s better for casual players like you said who want to hop on and have access to great cards.

I like how there are a lot of really good cards early because of the sets. Even tho they are really good, you will still get to grind for other cards because they will go away
I could see this as every game with seasons people play the beginning and get burnt out half way through
Im not sure rn, i love how there is a bunch of things to do, i am having the most fun playing offline this year than i have had in any other year. I kinda wish the 99s and 97s were harder to get tho. Bc when i do end up getting them, then maybe i would be bored, but time will tell

As a guy that is busy with school and work I’m super stoked! I love the system because I don’t have to play people I don’t wanna, I can target my favorite players and play em :)!
I like the sets and seasons. I feel like it will give us the opportunity to get different versions of players like 99 trout and ohtani for example. There is definitely going to be better versions of those players that we can get but with the additions of seasons we dont have to wait all year to get a usable and affordable version of our favorite cards
I like sets and seasons, it gives cards people wouldn’t use a new life with phasing out old cards, they just need the add in enough content and enough cards to keep it fresh
Honestly, I'm all for the 99's tbh, it just has to keep rolling in variety with programs and everything, makes it interesting for the team builds as well! Considering captains are a new thing this year and we'll have many sets this year in DD. Love your vids Koogs!
I think that as long that they don’t make too overpowered of cards like all 125 hitting stats, or 105 fastball and they give some diversity to the 99’s allowing multiple cards at each position be the best
I’ve been loving having great cards to use day 1 and it’s awesome to see 99s actually being used when the game is at its most popular.. we do still need to wait and see how they handle the transition between sets though so I’m still not completely sold. Big props to SDS for trying something unique because the old ultimate team model was getting super stale for me
What’s the best way in to finishing the live series collection or get stubs
I like it although I did like starting out in the previous games more with golds and working up to diamonds considering I’m ass at the game
As a casual who only plays occasionally it kinda sucks that a lot of my set one cards will be useless in ranked. The idea that I have to restart with half of my lineup is frustrating. But I can see the benefit of this model and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out tho.
I personally like this setup because it gives sds more opportunities for new content and forces people to mix up their teams year round
Another thing too is I personally always enjoyed using/facing live series cards for the first couple months now it feels they are pointless to have unless they get supercharged or you do collections
I think it nice to have stack team to perform with right away
I very much enjoy all the 99’s mostly for topps now and potm if they are gonna be high overalls I think they are gonna be great for this year

I think overall it’s good for the game cause we’re getting our favorite players/cards juiced already and not having to wait till October to get 99 Mantle, Trout, Griffey, Babe etc. by that time 80% of the people don’t play anymore
Im kind if in between on my opinion. One way im not thrilled about cards ive grinded for not being usable in a couple seasons, but then again, in the old model i was always grinding for new cards anyways. I also like the challenge of being forced to use different cards as the year goes on, it's just unfortunate that i wont have any mainstays in my lineup unless they are core players
Amazing content
Last year, I wasn't able to get The Show 22 for certain circumstances until around July, It was difficult for me to catch up to everyone specially because it was my first time trying an MLB game and while everyone had high overall godsquads, I was struggling with golds and a few diamonds against pitchers like 99 Randy, Nolan Ryan, etc. I think this change creates the opportunity for new players or just not as skilled players to be able to be on a steady pace with everyone and be able to compete. But I understand why some people may be upset about it and I totally respect it, but that's my opinion, thanks for reading this if you have.
I still don't have the game, but I hope to get it around Easter if we have the money. I watch all of your videos and see all of these great cards already in the game and I feel like someone who is no money spent like me is already starting at a major disadvantage when the get the game. Me personally, I would have liked it better if they started with the low 90s and worked their way up to the 99s, with the only starting 99s being the live series collection cards. What do you guys think?

I think it will be good because that will bring more 99’s and gives people the option of to use different cards or having the ability to play with their favorite players. I always thought the point of diamond dynasty was to be able to play with all your favorite players on 1 team.
i think it's great that there are going to be so many 99 overalls by the end of the game, because it seems by the end of every year everyone is using the exact same 99 overall cards, this way while there may be less competition, there will be a vast amount more of variety.
Tbh I think it’s cool that 99’s are in the game this early it gives you something to grind for day one with all that content but Idk what they’re gonna do when after all the set one card are gone they might release some the same card in new sets like mvp Freddie freeman
Easily, the most fun I have ever had playing the game. A true home run by SDS this year. Also, think of it this way…you get 6 games in one game now, instead of just one game. The “sets” are essentially new games of the game spread out over the year. Anyway…absolute phenomenal job by SDS this year.

The sets and seasons is smart, yeah you won’t be able to use some cards in your inventory, but it keeps the game, and your team fresh, causing people to play deeper into the year, great execution by SDS

I like using a variety of players that I am a fan of. Hopefully more players get a good card.
The other part of me is annoyed that I had a full 90 team within a week. I enjoy the grind of inching ahead
I feel like for me, who only plays events when the awards are worth it, more 99s is more exciting because i get tk try new cards against the cpu. In 22, I felt burned out after verlander dropped since i felt like i had no more cards to try, so im excited to try more 99s.

I think it’s kind of interesting the seasons format like you I’m pretty unsure, but I think it could be good cause I definitely like to switch it up in diamond dynasty with my lineups and this makes that easier but then are we not gonna get 99 trout or Ohtani in season three so we can’t use them and if we do get one and season three how do they make it different and not boring releasing the same 99 overall cards

Seems cool now. Depending on how long it takes to die should depend if it stays this way or goes back.
I don't think this would be a good idea in future games, but I do think it is a very good experiment to use with this game because, well, SDS needed to change up the formula somehow and they did that in a massive way which I appreciate alot instead of changing it massively next when (hopefully) it's going to on current gen only and massive improvements (again hopefully) are implemented.

I love the new DD set up. And tbh I don’t see it dying because we will lose a lot of our cards when new sets come out which will make it feel like a new game again (kinda)
I feel like it’ll be interesting as long as they don’t make a ton of 99s core. If they stay specific to seasons it’s just like peoples teams get a little reset every season
being as good as possible at the game makes it more fun and i suck so having 99’s all year so i can at least have a chance to be competitive no matter the comp i’m playing is making me love the game even more and i had over 1k hours last year
I honestly really like it. There won’t be any cards that didn’t get the amazing 99 they deserve after everyone stops playing in November. There won’t be any Randy Johnson’s who just roll through a 90 overall team and people can’t use Randy the entire year.
I do miss the build up to a diamond team. Using golds was fun for the beginning.
But mostly I'm upset at the set decision.
Like, I wanna use Pedro etc all year. But I can't, and by the time I've gotten enough cards earned or bought for him the set might be close to over and it makes me getting him not only short lived but not stub efficient.

I think the idea of sets and seasons is great in theory because it allows us to use 99 overall GOOD cards day one. I personally hated using the underwhelming 87’s and 90’s that just kept us waiting till later in the year. This is the most I’ve ever played at the start of the year. The only problem I have with it is now that we’ve experienced this, im starting to get attached to my good cards like chipper jones, Mike trout and others. I’m not sure how I’m going to feel when eventually a new set comes around and I can’t use cards that I feel so attached to and comfortable with.
So when is Angel in the outfield coming out 👀

I like the content from the standpoint of that a lot of players will be getting 99 or really good cards. I love using players that i like in real life. so if they are actually usable in DD im all for it. More good players=more lineup diversity
I don’t think I’ll be able to tell whether I like or dislike this system till Set 3 like you said. I can definitely see some potential flaws down the line but I’m hoping SDS won’t be hesitant to make adjustments if need be to make things work. So far I’m absolutely loving the game and am having the most fun since MLB 20.
It's fun for sure and I think if they keep the cards unique each set we should be good.
I think it will work this year because it’s new but year over year I’m not sure. All depends on how SDS roadmaps the entire year
